Overview
LEAF Izukogen gives you a private two-storey home in a quiet villa area at the foot of Mount Omuro. Rather than staying in the Ajiro district, you stay in Izu Kogen, surrounded by mountain scenery and within a short drive of Izu-Kogen Station. You have the entire 106-square-metre property to yourself, with self-check-in through a key safe and space for up to eight people.
Large windows fill the living area with natural light, while warm wood, pendant lighting, and ceiling fans create an inviting place to settle in. Step onto the wooden deck and you can look towards the sea and the distinctive outline of Mount Omuro. On a clear night, you may also see stars that are difficult to appreciate in the city.
You can spend your time cooking, sharing drinks on the deck, playing games, or soaking in your private natural hot spring. One small dog can also join you when you arrange this in advance and follow the property’s pet conditions.
Accommodation
The house follows a 3LDK layout with three bedrooms spread across two floors. This gives you enough flexibility to travel with family or friends while still having separate sleeping areas.
On the second floor, the Japanese-Western room includes one Simmons queen bed and two futons. Indirect lighting and a ceiling fan keep the room comfortable, while the deck connects this space with the living area and outdoor scenery.
The first floor has two Japanese-style tatami rooms, each prepared with two futons. Sliding fusuma doors separate the rooms, but you can open them to create one larger connected space. This layout works well when you are travelling with children or want everyone to sleep close together.
Air conditioning and humidifying air purifiers support your stay throughout the year. Bedding, bath towels, face towels, toothbrushes, razors, and other essential toiletries are ready when you arrive.
Dining
LEAF Izukogen does not serve breakfast or dinner, so you can plan meals around your own schedule. The kitchen connects with the living and dining area, making it easy to cook without separating yourself from the rest of your group.
You have a refrigerator, oven and microwave unit, rice cooker, electric kettle, coffee machine, teapot, frying pans, cooking pots, knives, chopping boards, bowls, a colander, serving utensils, and other useful cooking equipment. Plates, bowls, chopsticks, cutlery, mugs, glasses, and wine glasses are also provided.
The wooden deck has its own dining table and chairs, allowing you to eat outside while looking towards the sea and Mount Omuro. A gas barbecue can be arranged in advance when you stay for two nights or longer. You only need to bring your ingredients and seasonings, as the approved cooking equipment and fuel must be used for safety reasons.
The deck does not have a roof, so you cannot barbecue during rain or strong winds. Outdoor cooking also finishes in the early evening to protect the quiet atmosphere of the surrounding villa community.
Onsen and Wellness
Your private bathroom includes a spacious tub made from Izu stone and supplied with natural hot spring water. Because the entire house belongs to your booking, you can bathe without following the schedules or rules of a shared public onsen.
The water is described as supporting soft-feeling skin and keratin care. The bathroom also includes an ultra-fine-bubble shower, a selection of shampoos, conditioner, body soap, towels, and a Dyson hairdryer.
The natural hot spring supply pauses from midnight until morning. You can reheat water stored in the tub when you want to bathe during this period. Inspections, heavy rain, or scheduled maintenance by the hot spring supplier can occasionally interrupt the natural supply. When this happens, the bath remains available with gas-heated water.
Guests with Tattoos
The natural hot spring bath is completely private, so you can use it if you have tattoos. There are no shared bathing facilities at LEAF Izukogen.
Facilities
The open living and dining room includes a sofa, dining table, chairs, ceiling fan, air conditioning, humidifying air purifier, and large windows facing the surrounding scenery. A 55-inch television gives you access to terrestrial channels, YouTube, Netflix, and compatible streaming content. You need to use your own account for paid streaming services. Audio speakers, card games, and board games give you more ways to spend a relaxed evening inside.
You also have stable fixed-line Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, laundry equipment, a separate washroom and toilet, and parking for up to three standard vehicles. The entire indoor area is non-smoking. Smoking is limited to the permitted outdoor area, and you need to keep music and conversations quiet outside because the house stands in a residential villa community.
One small dog can stay with you when arranged in advance. Different animal types, larger dogs, or more than one animal require separate approval before your stay.
Activities
You can enjoy LEAF Izukogen without planning a busy schedule. Start the morning with coffee beside the windows, prepare meals together, soak in the hot spring, play board games, or watch the light change across the sea from the deck. For a longer stay, an outdoor barbecue adds an easy group activity without leaving the property.
Mount Omuro is one of the closest natural landmarks. A chairlift takes you to the summit, where you can follow the walking route around the volcanic crater and look towards Mount Fuji, Sagami Bay, and the Izu Islands when the sky is clear.
At Jogasaki Coast, you can walk along paths created across an ancient lava landscape. The coastline includes the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge, coastal cliffs, and views towards the Izu Islands and Amagi mountains.
The wider Izu Kogen area also offers diving, snorkelling, trekking, pottery workshops, and soba-making experiences. Komuroyama Park, Izu Shaboten Zoo, and Izu Granpal Park give you more options when you are travelling with children or want a fuller day out.
Additional Features
Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m., and check-out is by 10:00 a.m. Izu-Kogen Station is around eight minutes away by car or approximately 20 minutes by local bus. A car gives you the easiest way to reach the property and explore the surrounding coast and highlands.
You check yourself in using the key safe, giving you a simple and private arrival. For stays of two weeks or longer, you can arrange cleaning, fresh linen, and replacement amenities during your visit.
LEAF Izukogen suits you when you want the independence of a holiday home together with a private natural hot spring. The flexible tatami rooms, full kitchen, ocean-facing deck, dog-friendly option, and easy access to Mount Omuro and Jogasaki Coast make it a comfortable base for spending time together in Izu.
