Overview

Daitokan is a simple hot spring ryokan in Ito Onsen, set in a quiet residential area about 12 minutes on foot from JR Ito Station. You stay close to Ito’s town center, restaurants, shopping streets, and coastal area, while still enjoying a calm place to return to after a day out.

This property focuses on hot spring bathing and flexible travel. Dinner is not served, and standard room service is not part of the stay. Instead, you enjoy a one-night-with-breakfast style stay, six source-flowing baths, three free private baths, and the freedom to come and go after check-in with no curfew.

Accommodation

Daitokan has 29 rooms, including Japanese-style rooms, special rooms, Western-style bed rooms, and one detached room. Most rooms are 10-tatami Japanese-style rooms, giving you enough space to stretch out, drink tea, and rest between baths.

Rooms include a washlet toilet, refrigerator, television, kettle, tea set, towels, and basic amenities. Baths in the rooms also use hot spring water, so you can enjoy a private soak without going to the shared bathing areas. You can choose smoking or non-smoking room options, and you select either yukata or samue-style roomwear at check-in.

The ryokan keeps the stay private and relaxed. Staff do not enter your room during your stay unless you request service, so you can settle in, bring your own food and drinks, and enjoy your time without interruption.

Dining

Daitokan includes a free simple Western-style breakfast. The meal is casual and light, giving you an easy start before sightseeing, work, or another hot spring soak.

Dinner is not served at the ryokan. This gives you the freedom to explore Ito’s local restaurants, izakaya, seafood spots, and casual dining places. You can also bring food and drinks back to your room if you prefer a quiet evening after bathing.

Onsen and Wellness

Daitokan has six baths, all using 100% source-flowing hot spring water. The baths use water from the ryokan’s own sources, and the water is not diluted, heated, circulated, or filtered. The ryokan manages the temperature by adjusting the amount of hot spring water flowing into each bath.

You can enjoy two large public baths, one large open-air bath, and three private baths. The private baths include a private open-air bath, a Goemon-style bath, and a private lie-down bath. They are free to use and do not need a reservation. When one is available, you enter, lock the door from inside, and enjoy the bath privately.

The baths are available from 14:00 until 11:00 the next morning, so you can enjoy late-night and early-morning bathing. The spring is a gentle simple hot spring, making it easy to enjoy repeated soaks during your stay.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you cannot enter Daitokan for overnight stays or day-use bathing. This rule applies to the property itself, not only the shared bathing areas.

Facilities

Daitokan has a lobby, free Wi-Fi, vending machines, six hot spring baths, three free private baths, room baths with hot spring water, and parking. The property also has a World War II-era air-raid shelter on-site, discovered during construction work and connected with the Izu Peninsula Geopark.

The stay system is simple and flexible. After check-in, there is no curfew, so you can go out for dinner, enjoy Ito at night, or return late without concern.

Activities

You can use Daitokan as a base for exploring Ito Onsen and the wider Izu area. JR Ito Station is about 12 minutes away on foot, and the town’s restaurants, old streets, shopping areas, and coastal spots are easy to reach.

You can walk around the Matsukawa River area, visit Tokaikan, explore local shops, or head toward the sea for fresh air. The ryokan also works well for solo travel, business stays, and longer stays because the schedule stays flexible and the focus remains on bathing, resting, and exploring.

Additional Features

Daitokan gives you 100% source-flowing hot spring water in all baths, six bath experiences, three free private baths, in-room hot spring baths, free simple Western-style breakfast, free Wi-Fi, parking, and no curfew after check-in.

Check-in is from 14:00 to 22:00, and check-out is by 11:00. Day-use bathing is available from 14:00 to 22:00, with final reception at 21:00. The property is about 12 minutes on foot from JR Ito Station, or about three minutes by car.
