Overview
Fuji Onsenji Yumedono offers a private hot spring retreat near Lake Kawaguchi, where traditional Japanese craftsmanship, garden bathing, and seasonal cuisine shape every part of your stay. Set at the foot of Mount Fuji, the ryokan gives you easy access to the lake and the wider Fuji Five Lakes area while keeping the atmosphere quiet and intimate.
The main building takes inspiration from Kyoto’s Nijo Castle and uses Japanese zelkova wood throughout its structure. Detailed woodwork, stone paths, inner gardens, and soft lighting create a setting that feels closely connected to classic Japanese design.
Every room includes its own large open-air hot spring bath. You can soak without leaving your accommodation, follow your own bathing schedule, and enjoy the privacy that defines the Yumedono experience.

Dining
Dining at Yumedono celebrates seasonal Japanese cuisine through a multi-course kaiseki experience. The kitchen selects ingredients from respected producers across Japan and prepares them to highlight natural flavour, texture, and presentation.
Dinner follows the Yumedono Mikaku Saijiki course, beginning with a welcoming dish before moving through soup, sashimi, grilled dishes, a main course, seasonal specialities, rice, and dessert. The menu changes according to the season and the ingredients available on the day.
Yamanashi wine, local sake, Japanese whisky, and selected drinks from across Japan are available to accompany the meal.
Dinner and breakfast are served in a private dining room, allowing you to enjoy each course at a relaxed pace. The private rooms accommodate up to six people and give meals a more personal atmosphere without the interruptions of a large restaurant.
Onsen and wellness
Every room includes a large outdoor bath supplied with water from the Fuji Kawaguchiko hot spring area. There is no need to use a shared public bath or plan your evening around fixed bathing hours.
The spring is classified as a sodium-calcium chloride hot spring. Traditional bathing indications include fatigue, sensitivity to cold, muscle and joint discomfort, minor cuts, and recovery after physical activity.
The open-air baths sit within private garden spaces, with room to soak comfortably as a couple. The setting changes throughout the day, from soft morning light to the quieter atmosphere after dinner.
Your in-room onsen is available around the clock, so the bathing experience can remain at the centre of your stay without limiting your plans.
Guests with tattoos
Tattoos are accepted in the private open-air hot spring bath inside your room. All bathing takes place within your own accommodation, allowing you to enjoy the onsen in complete privacy.
Facilities
Yumedono keeps its shared spaces elegant and understated. The lobby reflects the craftsmanship of the zelkova main building, while the lounge gives you a comfortable place to pause before check-in or between outings.
Private dining rooms host breakfast and dinner, preserving the ryokan’s focus on quiet, personal experiences. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
Complimentary parking is available for 20 cars without advance reservation. Children can stay at the ryokan, while pets are not accepted.
