Overview

Step into GRANDIA HOUSEN, a refined ryokan located in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture. Surrounded by nature and steeped in tradition, this onsen retreat blends the spirit of Japanese hospitality with the beauty of seasonal landscapes. Fukui, once known as Miketsukuni, provided food to the imperial court—and that legacy of rich ingredients and artisan skill continues to this day.

At GRANDIA HOUSEN, you can soak in natural hot springs, admire views of cherry blossoms in spring or vibrant leaves in autumn, and enjoy moments of deep relaxation. With views of a carefully landscaped Japanese garden and the comfort of traditional design, every visit feels fresh and deeply renewing.

Accommodation

GRANDIA HOUSEN offers five distinct lodging styles, each crafted to provide an atmosphere of privacy and comfort. Whether you want a luxurious suite or a simple room with a view of the countryside, you’ll find the right space to match your pace.

Villa Kotobukitei

Sixteen suites, each designed for adult luxury, offer open-air hot spring baths and elegant, functional furnishings. These rooms bring together tradition and relaxation in a private space where time slows down.

Sakuratei Suite

With a semi-open-air bath and an expansive layout, the Sakuratei Suite lets you relax in a partition-free environment. The natural scenery outside changes with the seasons, giving you a sense of freedom and renewal.

Yutorogitei

These 14 modern Japanese-style rooms each come with an open-air bath. Some are barrier-free, making them easy to access and use. Each space feels like a private villa you can use however you like.

Sakuratei Nagomi

Designed for families or small groups, these spacious rooms exceed 60㎡ and include a desk in select rooms—perfect for a flexible stay. Each room also features a 4K smart TV.

Cocomichitei

Thirteen rooms with beds and access to an exclusive lounge where you can enjoy complimentary drinks, including alcohol. You’ll also have access to a cypress-scented communal bath reserved for guests in this annex.

Kousuiden

From the upper floors of this section, you can enjoy a rural landscape that transforms with the seasons. The Japanese-style rooms offer a quiet escape above the city.

Dining

At GRANDIA HOUSEN, each meal tells a story of Fukui. Local ingredients—especially the prized Echizen crab—take center stage, enhanced by the skill of expert chefs. Whether you stay for one night or several, you can try different dinner experiences throughout your visit.

Choose from buffet-style dining, multi-course shabu-shabu meals, or kaiseki cuisine served in a private room. Every dish highlights the seasonal bounty of the region, prepared with the care and precision that defines Japanese cuisine.

Restaurant Tokinokura

Enjoy an elegant buffet supervised by the executive chef who once designed in-flight meals for JAL’s first class. Watch chefs prepare Japanese beef steak, Hokuriku seafood, and freshly fried tempura in real time. Drinks are available freely.

Dining Fukura

Share a full-course meal featuring Wakasa beef shabu-shabu in a contemporary setting. The ingredients from Fukui shine in both flavor and presentation.

Japanese Restaurant Yuzen

Yuzen offers seasonal kaiseki meals in private rooms. A wine cellar stocked with local sake and fine wine adds a perfect touch to this calm, stylish space.

Japanese Restaurant Kotobuki

Located inside Villa Kotobukitei, Kotobuki serves traditional meals in bamboo-accented private rooms. Each element, from the plating to the dinnerware, deepens the dining experience.

Crab Dishes

Fukui is famous for its Echizen crab—often called the king of crab. At GRANDIA HOUSEN, you can enjoy its sweet, refined taste as part of your accommodation experience.

Onsen and Wellness

The open-air baths at GRANDIA HOUSEN let you soak in nature while washing away fatigue. Every bath is a private sanctuary where you can unwind at your own pace. The baths differ by room, giving you new sensations each time you stay.

Let the hot spring water warm your body and calm your thoughts while you listen to birdsong, watch the wind move through the trees, or admire the clear evening sky.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have a tattoo, you can enjoy your bath in private facilities included with many room types. These open-air baths ensure complete privacy and peace of mind.
