Overview
Hakkai Konohana-kan gives you a deeply private stay in Oshino Village, close to Mount Fuji and the clear spring waters of Oshino Hakkai. With only five rooms, each with its own entrance, garden, in-room dining space, and semi-open-air hot spring bath, you can enjoy the quiet of a small ryokan without sharing the flow of your stay with others.
The inn takes its name from Konohanasakuya-hime, the goddess linked with Mount Fuji and cherry blossoms. This story gives the ryokan a gentle sense of place, while the surrounding water, forest, and mountain views bring you closer to the landscape that makes Oshino so special. From here, you can enjoy Mount Fuji, spring-fed ponds, seasonal flowers, and quiet time in your own private space.
Accommodation
Hakkai Konohana-kan has five maisonette-style rooms in total: three in the Main Building and two in the Villa. Every room has a private entrance, dedicated garden, in-room dining area, and semi-open-air hot spring bath that you can use 24 hours a day. Each room has its sleeping space on the second floor, giving you a clear separation between dining, bathing, and rest.
In the Main Building, Benifuji is the largest room and can accommodate up to five people. It has a garden facing the trees, a semi-open-air bath on the first floor, and a spacious second-floor bedroom and tatami living area. Yukifuji and Ougonfuji each accommodate up to four people. Yukifuji gives you views of Mount Fuji as the light changes through the day, while Ougonfuji has one of the most open feelings in the Main Building, with a tatami living space where you can look toward Mount Fuji even while seated.
The Main Building sits against the landscape of Yamanaka no Harimomi Junrin, a nationally designated natural monument known for its forest of Japanese fir trees. This gives the rooms a quiet natural backdrop, especially when you want to spend time in your garden or soak in your private bath.
The Villa opened in August 2025 and includes Tsukimi Fuji and Kongou Fuji. These two rooms accommodate up to four people each and offer a more spacious, refined stay with broad Mount Fuji views. Tsukimi Fuji is inspired by Konohanasakuya-hime and has a garden approach with a bamboo grove feeling, a private entrance, and a semi-open-air bath that opens wide toward the view. Kongou Fuji draws inspiration from the clear waters of Oshino Hakkai, with a garden design that reflects seasonal color, a spacious terrace, and a calm room atmosphere shaped around water and nature.
Children under 10 cannot stay at Hakkai Konohana-kan, so the atmosphere stays quiet and adult-focused. The rooms are not suitable if you use a wheelchair or have difficulty using stairs, as every room has stairs and the bedrooms are all on the second floor.
Dining
Meals at Hakkai Konohana-kan are served privately in your room, so you can enjoy dinner and breakfast without leaving your own space. This fits the ryokan’s fully private style: your room, bath, garden, and meals all stay within your personal area.
Dinner is a creative kaiseki meal made with seasonal ingredients and local Yamanashi flavors. The menu changes monthly, bringing together Yamanashi brand meat, seafood, local rice, eggs, and carefully chosen seasonal produce. The meal feels generous but calm, with each course prepared to match the season rather than follow one fixed style.
Breakfast is also served in your room. You can enjoy rice cooked in a kama pot, Oshino tofu made with the area’s clear water, Fujinosuke salmon, and Oshino Koyo Tamago eggs. The morning meal gives you a clean, nourishing start before exploring Mount Fuji, Oshino Hakkai, or the Fuji Five Lakes area.
Onsen and Wellness
Each room at Hakkai Konohana-kan has its own semi-open-air hot spring bath, and you can use it 24 hours a day. You do not need to reserve a bath time, move through shared changing rooms, or adjust your schedule around other people. You can soak early in the morning, after sightseeing, or late at night under the quiet sky.
The hot spring water is alkaline simple spring water. It is associated with relief for nerve pain, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery. The bath experience feels especially personal because it stays within your room: your own entrance, your own garden, your own dining space, and your own hot spring.
The Villa baths have large windows that can open wide, giving you a semi-open-air feel with views toward Mount Fuji on clear days. In the Main Building, the baths look toward private gardens, trees, and the natural surroundings of Oshino.
Guests with Tattoos
All baths at Hakkai Konohana-kan are private in-room semi-open-air hot spring baths. You can enjoy the hot spring in your own room with tattoos.
Facilities
Hakkai Konohana-kan keeps its facilities intentionally private. Instead of large shared spaces, the inn gives you everything within your own room area: a private entrance, garden, in-room dining space, and semi-open-air hot spring bath. This makes the stay feel quiet, personal, and easy to enjoy at your own pace.
The inn also offers free Wi-Fi, parking, and simple travel support. Bicycle rental and shuttle service are listed among the available facilities, making it easier to explore the surrounding area depending on the timing and arrangements. The overall experience focuses on privacy rather than shared entertainment, so you come here to rest, soak, dine, and enjoy the view.
Activities
Hakkai Konohana-kan works well as a quiet base for exploring the Mount Fuji area. Oshino Hakkai is about three minutes away by car and is known for its eight clear ponds fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji. The water filters through volcanic rock over many years, creating the bright, clear spring water that makes the area famous.
Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park is also about three minutes away by car and gives you seasonal flowers with Mount Fuji in the background. Lake Kawaguchi is about 20 minutes away by car, and Gotemba Premium Outlets is also about 20 minutes away, so you can balance nature, sightseeing, and shopping without long travel times.
The inn also recommends using your stay as a base for seasonal Mount Fuji activities, local experiences, sightseeing, and visits to nearby good-fortune shrines. With only five rooms and a fully private setup, you can explore during the day and return to a quiet bath, private dinner, and peaceful night.
Additional Features
Hakkai Konohana-kan opened in summer 2022 as a five-room private ryokan near Oshino Hakkai. The Villa added two new rooms in August 2025, bringing the inn to its current five-room layout. Check-in and check-out times may depend on your booking plan, but common booking sources list check-in from 15:00 and check-out by 10:00.
The inn is about three minutes by car from Yamanakako IC, making it convenient when you travel by car around the Mount Fuji area. Because the property has only five rooms and each one has stairs, it suits you best when you want a quiet adult stay with privacy, in-room meals, and your own hot spring bath rather than a large resort with shared facilities.
