Overview

Hotel Sun Hatoya turns the Itō waterfront into a lively seaside resort experience. Every room looks across Sagami Bay, bringing the ocean into your stay from the moment you wake. Early mornings are especially memorable, when the sun rises over the water and fills the room with light.

The hotel brings together ocean-view accommodation, natural hot spring bathing, live entertainment, seafood dining, indoor water attractions, and activities for both adults and children. You can watch fish swim beside the bath, enjoy dinner with a laser show, spend time in the all-season swimsuit zone, or simply relax in your room with the sea stretching beyond the window.

JR Itō Station is about 5 minutes away by complimentary shuttle bus, making the resort easy to reach without a car.

Accommodation

Every room at Hotel Sun Hatoya faces the sea and includes a private bathroom and toilet. Choose from Japanese-style rooms, Western twin rooms, oceanfront corner rooms, suites, and special accommodation created in 2019.

The Special Japanese-Style Room offers three connected spaces: a 12-tatami main room, an 8-tatami second room, and a Western-style room measuring between 15㎡ and 22㎡. It also includes a private ocean-view bath and can accommodate larger families or groups.

The Special Western-Style Room combines 40㎡ to 45㎡ of indoor space with a sea-facing terrace measuring between 30㎡ and 45㎡. Selected layouts support wheelchair access, while the generous terrace gives you more room to enjoy the coastal setting.

Twin Rooms overlook Sagami Bay and accommodate up to three people with an additional bed. Standard Japanese Rooms offer a more traditional experience with tatami flooring and uninterrupted sea views.

For an even closer connection to the water, the Oceanfront Corner Rooms occupy some of the hotel’s most sea-facing positions. The top-floor suites add more space and far-reaching views across the bay.

Room amenities include a television, telephone, refrigerator, electric kettle, tea set, individual air conditioning, hairdryer, washlet toilet, toiletries, towels, yukata, and slippers. The Special Japanese and Special Western room categories are non-smoking.

Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00.

Dining

Dinner at Hotel Sun Hatoya combines seafood-focused Japanese cuisine with the energy of the Restaurant Theater. You can enjoy your meal while laser lights, stage lighting, music, and sound effects transform the dining room into an evening show.

The laser production was renewed in 2022, and selected dates also feature invited performers. Entertainment changes according to the schedule, giving each stay a different atmosphere.

Dinner is generally served as a Japanese set meal featuring fresh seafood and seasonal ingredients. On Saturdays and during periods such as New Year, spring holidays, Golden Week, and summer holidays, dinner may be presented as a seafood buffet.

Breakfast is normally served as a buffet in the restaurant, although a Japanese set meal may be offered on selected dates.

The hotel cannot adapt its menus for food allergies, so the dining experience is best suited when the standard menu works for you.

Onsen and wellness

Hotel Sun Hatoya draws its natural hot spring water from around 1,000 metres beneath the seabed. The clear spring emerges at approximately 43°C and gives you an onsen experience shaped by the hotel’s oceanfront location.

The signature Fish Bath places large aquariums beside the bathing area, allowing you to watch fish and sea turtles move through the water while you soak. The bath opens from 5:00 until 1:00 the following morning, giving you plenty of time for both early and late bathing.

The open-air baths look toward the Pacific, with sunrise adding an impressive start to the day. Sauna facilities offer another way to unwind after sightseeing or time in the pool.

Ocean Adventure adds a playful side to the hot spring experience. The indoor swimsuit zone, Ancient Beach, operates throughout the year and includes features such as jacuzzis, waterfall-style showers, reclining baths, and a mushroom fountain. The outdoor Nagisa Pool opens during selected summer periods and includes a waterslide beside the sea.

Swim diapers are accepted for children who have not completed toilet training, and suitable products are also sold inside the hotel.

Guests with tattoos

Tattoos are not accepted in the shared hot spring, sauna, spa, or pool facilities. This restriction also applies when tattoos are covered with clothing, a rash guard, or a similar covering.

If you book the Special Japanese-Style Room with its own ocean-view bath, tattoos are accepted in that private in-room bathing space.

Facilities

Hotel Sun Hatoya offers facilities that allow you to spend much of the trip without leaving the resort. Five conference rooms and four banquet spaces support meetings, reunions, celebrations, and group events.

The Dance Hall Sunshine features a professional wooden floor and hosts dance events on selected dates. Karaoke rooms and an evening snack area give you more entertainment after dinner, with drinks and light dishes available during operating hours.

The shop sells local products, travel items, and original Hatoya merchandise. You can also find indoor leisure areas and relaxation facilities throughout the property.

If you are travelling with a baby or young child, useful items are available in limited numbers. These include children’s pillows, waterproof bed sheets, baby baskets, diaper bins, bath chairs, baby baths, children’s soap, restaurant chairs, and bibs. Retort rice porridge or udon for infants can also be arranged in advance under eligible meal plans.

Complimentary parking is available for standard passenger cars.

Activities

You can create a full day without leaving the hotel. Start with sunrise over Sagami Bay, enjoy breakfast, move between the indoor swimsuit zone and the hot spring baths, then finish with dinner and the Restaurant Theater show.

During summer, the outdoor pool brings the resort atmosphere even closer to the sea. The indoor Ancient Beach remains available throughout the year, making Hotel Sun Hatoya a practical choice even when the weather changes.

Beyond the hotel, Izu Shaboten Zoo, Izu Granpal Park, and the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge at Jogasaki Coast are among the area’s best-known attractions. Central Itō also offers waterfront walks, local shops, seafood restaurants, and seasonal fireworks.

The complimentary shuttle makes it easy to return to Itō Station when you want to explore without driving.

Additional features

All rooms face the ocean and include private bathrooms and toilets. The hotel offers natural hot spring baths, ocean-view open-air baths, the Fish Bath, sauna facilities, an all-season indoor swimsuit zone, a seasonal outdoor pool, seafood dining, Restaurant Theater entertainment, karaoke, dance facilities, conference and banquet rooms, baby supplies, complimentary parking, and a free shuttle from JR Itō Station. The station shuttle takes about 5 minutes and operates without advance reservations, with departures to the hotel from 12:30 until 17:35 and morning return services from the hotel between 8:30 and 10:30.
