Overview

IHATOV Nakaizu, also called Onsen-yado Nonbiri, gives you a private whole-building hot spring stay in the Nakaizu area of Izu. The property accepts only one group per day, so you have the house, baths, kitchen, living room, bar counter, and outdoor spaces to yourselves.

This stay works well when you want a private to yourselves.

This stay works well when you want a private Izu retreat for family, friends, or a three-generation trip. You can soak in a 100% natural hot spring open-air bath, enjoy the view from the second-floor bar counter, let children spend time with books and toys, cook your own meals, and relax without sharing the building with anyone else. The style is more like a private hot spring villa than a full-service ryokan.

Accommodation

IHATOV Nakaizu is a whole-house rental of more than 140㎡, with space for up to 10 people. The layout includes a living and dining room, kitchen, three Japanese-style bedrooms, bathroom, open-air bath, two toilets, wash area, play space for children, and a second-floor bar counter.

Sleeping is futon-style. The first floor has one 6-tatami Japanese room with three futons. The second floor has one 6-tatami Japanese room with three futons and one 8-tatami Japanese room with four futons. This setup lets a group of 10 sleep without using the living room as a bedroom.

The living room has sofas, a dining table, large TV, 100-inch projector, Amazon Stick, and streaming access when you use your own account. The house also has free high-speed Wi-Fi, air conditioning, washing machine, laundry supplies, towels, bath items, skincare items, toothbrushes, razors, combs, and useful items for children such as a high chair, children’s tableware, toys, picture books, baby bath, bath mat, waterproof sheet, and child-friendly body soap.

The whole building is non-smoking, including electronic cigarettes. Smoking is allowed only in the designated outdoor smoking space.

Dining

IHATOV Nakaizu does not serve meals, so you bring ingredients and prepare food in the kitchen. The self-catering style gives you freedom to eat when you like, cook for children, prepare simple snacks, or bring local seafood, meat, vegetables, and drinks from shops around Izu.

The kitchen includes an IH cooktop, tabletop hot pot set, rice cooker, microwave, toaster, smokeless roaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, cookware, knives, cutting board, plates, glasses, mugs, cutlery, chopsticks, wine glasses, dish soap, and sponge. Coffee grounds are not provided, so bring your own if you want fresh coffee.

Seasonings are kept to a minimum for hygiene reasons, so prepare anything important before arrival. There is no vending machine inside the building, so buy drinks before check-in. The property can suggest local supermarkets, meat shops, fish shops, and restaurants when you want to plan meals around local ingredients.

Outdoor barbecue, bonfires, and fireworks are not allowed. Use the kitchen and indoor cooking equipment instead.

Onsen and Wellness

The main bath experience is the private observation open-air bath. It uses 100% natural hot spring water with no added water and no heating. You can soak while looking over the Nakaizu scenery, and at night the open setting makes the bath especially memorable when the sky is clear.

The open-air bath is a rock-style bath with a jacuzzi feature. The property also has an indoor bath, which became available after the 2023 renovation. Because the whole building is reserved for your group, you do not share either bath with anyone outside your stay.

The hot spring temperature is around 42°C and cannot be adjusted because the water is natural source water without heating or added water. The temperature may feel hotter in summer and cooler in winter, especially as time passes after filling the bath. For group stays, bathing in sequence helps you enjoy the water while it stays warm.

The hot spring has a water-use limit. Once the bath is filled, reduce the flow or stop the water. The open-air bath holds about 1,000 liters, while the indoor bath holds about 700 liters. Heavy use beyond the set volume may create an extra charge, so use the water with care.

Guests with Tattoos

IHATOV Nakaizu is a private whole-building rental with no shared public bath. You can use the open-air hot spring bath and indoor bath privately with tattoos.

Facilities

IHATOV Nakaizu has a private open-air hot spring bath, indoor bath, living and dining room, three Japanese-style bedrooms, full kitchen, second-floor bar counter with mini kitchen, children’s play items, washing machine, free Wi-Fi, large TV, 100-inch projector, streaming device, two toilets, outdoor smoking space, and free parking.

The second-floor bar counter is one of the most distinctive spaces. You can sit with a drink, enjoy the view, and still stay close to the upstairs bedroom area. The living room works well for movies, family time, or relaxed evenings with your group.

Check-in is unmanned through a key box at the entrance. The property asks you to treat the house with care because it is a private rental, not a staffed hotel. Loud parties, outdoor noise at night, bringing audio equipment, fireworks, bonfires, outdoor barbecue, pets, and smoking inside the building are not allowed. The surrounding area includes local homes, so quiet use is important.

Activities

IHATOV Nakaizu gives you a private base for exploring Izu at your own pace. Shuzenji Station is about 10 minutes away by taxi, and the Shuzenji area works well for temple visits, riverside walks, bamboo paths, cafés, and hot spring town sightseeing.

You can also plan drives to central Izu, the Nakaizu countryside, Omuroyama, Ito, and other Izu attractions. The property is useful for slow family stays, workation-style stays, quiet group trips, and relaxed holidays where the house itself becomes the main part of the trip.

Inside the house, you can watch movies on the projector, cook together, let children play with toys and picture books, enjoy drinks at the bar counter, and bathe privately throughout your stay.

Additional Features

IHATOV Nakaizu is best for you if you want a one-group-per-day private hot spring house with more than 140㎡ of space, futon sleeping for up to 10 people, a 100% natural hot spring open-air bath, indoor bath, full kitchen, bar counter, children’s play items, free Wi-Fi, projector, washing machine, and parking.

Check-in starts at 16:00, and check-out is at 10:00. You also have self check-in by key box, free parking for up to three cars, access by taxi from Shuzenji Station, and a quiet house-rule style suited to families, friends, and private stays rather than parties.
