Overview
At Itoen Hotel Toi, you stay beside the coast of West Izu with Suruga Bay stretching out before you. The hotel stands above the shoreline along National Route 136, creating wide views of the sea from the public baths, lobby, and selected rooms. In the evening, you can watch the sky change colour as the sun sets across the water.
Your stay brings together the long hot spring history of Toi Onsen, relaxed buffet dining, and complimentary entertainment. You can soak while looking through floor-to-ceiling windows, enjoy Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes with unlimited drinks, then spend the evening singing karaoke, playing table tennis, or simply watching the sea from the fourth-floor lobby.
Accommodation
You can choose from Japanese rooms, Western rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, larger special rooms, and rooms with a private open-air bath. The 89-room collection includes simple layouts for solo travel and couples, as well as more spacious options for families and friends.
Every Japanese room faces Suruga Bay, allowing you to sit beside the window and watch the horizon from your tatami room. Selected ocean-view plans guarantee a sea-facing Japanese room, while the height of the hotel means you can still enjoy an open coastal outlook from rooms on the lower floors.
Japanese-Western rooms combine a tatami area overlooking the sea with a separate bedroom containing two single beds. This layout gives you a Japanese space for tea and conversation while allowing you to sleep in a Western-style bed.
Western rooms come in single, twin, and triple layouts. Room outlooks differ within this category, so choose an ocean-view room when the view is an important part of your stay. The larger special rooms include an additional sitting area and broad views across Suruga Bay.
For more privacy, six rooms include an open-air bath facing the sea. You can soak with the changing light, listen to the coastal surroundings, and enjoy the bath without following the public bathing schedule. These rooms are particularly inviting around sunset, when the sky and sea often turn shades of orange and gold.
Your room includes hand and bath towels, yukata, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, a razor, comb, brush, refrigerator, personal safe, and hairdryer. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in every room. After check-in, you can settle in without routine visits to your room, giving you more privacy throughout your stay.
Dining
Dinner is served in the sixth-floor buffet restaurant and includes around 50 Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. Seasonal ingredients and changing food fairs bring new flavours to the selection throughout the year, while familiar dishes make it easy to build a meal that suits your appetite.
Alcoholic drinks and soft drinks are included during dinner. You can choose from options such as draft beer, Japanese sake, shochu, and soft drinks while returning to the buffet as often as you like. Dinner lasts 90 minutes, and your starting time is arranged according to the dining schedule on the day.
Seasonal fairs add limited-time dishes to the main buffet. These may focus on sushi, seafood, regional cooking, or other seasonal ingredients. The exact selection changes with your travel dates and ingredient availability.
You can also add dishes such as a whole simmered kinmedai, butter-grilled abalone, or Shizuoka Wagyu steak to selected meal plans. Advance arrangements may be required for these additional dishes.
Breakfast is served in the same sixth-floor restaurant from 07:30 to 09:00. The Japanese and Western buffet includes hot dishes, rice, bread, and soft drinks, giving you an easy start before exploring Toi and the wider West Izu coast. Opening times may change when occupancy is high.
Onsen and Wellness
The fourth-floor public baths look directly across Suruga Bay through walls of glass. The men’s Kanayama Bath and women’s Ginzan Bath provide the same broad coastal view, allowing you to watch the light move across the water while soaking indoors.
The water comes from Toi Onsen and is classified as a calcium-sodium sulfate and chloride spring. It is hypotonic, mildly alkaline, and naturally hot. Bathing indications include joint stiffness, joint and muscle discomfort, neuralgia, sensitivity to cold, bruises, sprains, frozen shoulder, and fatigue.
The public baths open from 15:00 until midnight and again from 05:00 to 10:30. The men’s and women’s baths do not switch during the stay, and both remain in their designated areas.
The public bathing area is fully indoors, so there is no shared open-air bath or reservable private bath. You can enjoy an outdoor soak by booking one of the six rooms with its own open-air bath, which remains available throughout your stay.
Tattoo Policy
If you have a tattoo, you cannot use the large public baths. You can use the private bathroom inside your room, and a room with its own open-air bath gives you the best way to enjoy Toi Onsen water in privacy.
Facilities
Complimentary entertainment includes a spacious shared karaoke lounge, five private karaoke rooms, four table tennis tables, and two billiard tables. The karaoke facilities open from 09:00 to 23:00. Private karaoke, table tennis, and billiards require a same-day reservation and normally allow one 60-minute session.
The third-floor game corner includes retro arcade machines and normally opens from 14:00 to 21:00. Game use is paid separately, and operating hours may change during selected periods.
You can choose a yukata after arrival and relax in the fourth-floor lobby, where large windows frame the sea and the setting sun. The shop also sits on the fourth floor and opens from 08:00 to 20:00, giving you time to browse sweets and souvenirs from Toi and the wider Izu region.
Complimentary bicycles are available from 07:00 until sunset when weather conditions allow. The collection includes six electric-assist bicycles and four standard bicycles. You need to arrange your bicycle at reception on the day.
Fishing rods are available from 06:00 to 17:00. You can collect one at reception and ask for directions to nearby fishing areas. Bait can also be purchased before you set out.
The outdoor swimming pool opens during the summer. In 2026, you can use it from July 18 to August 31, between 09:00 and 11:00 and again from 13:00 to 17:00. The pool measures approximately 10.5 by 5.5 metres and is one metre deep. Weather and sea conditions may affect opening, and towel rental is charged separately.
Activities
A complimentary bicycle gives you an easy way to explore the nearby coastline, reach local shops, or visit central Toi without using your car. You can also borrow a fishing rod and spend a quiet morning beside the sea before returning for breakfast or a late-morning bath.
Toi Beach is around 20 minutes away on foot and approximately five minutes by local bus. During summer, you can combine time at the beach with a swim in the outdoor pool before returning to the hotel for the evening buffet.
Toi Gold Mine introduces you to the town’s mining history through tunnels, displays, and gold-related attractions. Matsubara Park is another popular stop near the centre of Toi, especially during seasonal flower events and the annual summer festival.
Back at the hotel, you can fill your evening with karaoke, table tennis, billiards, retro games, and a long soak overlooking Suruga Bay. The fourth-floor lobby also provides an inviting place to sit in your yukata and watch the sunset without planning an activity.
