Overview

Kochoran sits along the peaceful coast of Toba Bay, where you can enjoy the sea breeze and the quiet rhythm of the waves. Beautiful orchids bloom throughout the year, adding color and charm to your stay. From both the large public bath and the open-air bath, you can gaze out at the ocean while soaking in natural hot spring water. Kochoran invites you to slow down and savor moments of comfort and hospitality.

This ryokan is about five minutes by car from Toba Station. If you want to visit Ise Jingu Shrine, one of Japan’s most powerful spiritual spots, the drive takes about 30 minutes. A free shuttle service from Kintetsu Toba Station makes your arrival smooth and easy.

Dining

Kochoran takes great pride in its cuisine. Your dinner features the tastes of the sea—Japanese Spiny Lobster, abalone, and Wagyu beef—served in a seasonal kaiseki style. The head chef crafts each course using fresh, local ingredients. Hot dishes arrive hot, and cold dishes stay cold, allowing you to enjoy each flavor as it’s meant to be.

You’ll enjoy dinner in your room, allowing you to eat at your own pace in privacy. Breakfast is served in the restaurant, with a gentle menu that includes freshly cooked rice, miso soup, and 13 seasonal side dishes.

Children can enjoy their own carefully prepared meals, which include favorites like hamburger steak, shrimp gratin, and chawanmushi. The meals are designed to let children share the same joy of travel through food.

Please note: Kochoran is unable to accommodate food allergies or vegetarian requests due to shared kitchen facilities and preparation methods.

Onsen and Wellness

Kochoran offers a large communal bath and an open-air bath where you can soak in natural hot spring water while looking out at Toba Bay. The baths alternate between men and women, giving everyone a chance to experience both spaces.

Inside your room, some suites offer a bubble bath that sends gentle bubbles from the floor, creating a relaxing sensation. Other rooms have ceramic and cypress indoor tubs, offering a private bathing experience with a view of the sea.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, please inquire at the front desk about using the baths privately. The ryokan can guide you to the appropriate facilities to ensure a comfortable experience.
