Accommodation
Each room at Kinkouroh faces Kinko Bay and Sakurajima Island, offering scenery that is unique to this part of Japan. Local elements such as bamboo, Japanese paper, volcanic ash plaster, and lava from Sakurajima create a deep sense of place. Some rooms include a half-open-air bath with free-flowing hot spring water directly from the ryokan’s private source.
Room types include:
- Sakurajima Room: A Japanese-Western room with a tatami lounge, decorative antiques, and finishes made from Sakurajima lava and Kyushu wood. (Note: This room uses regular water, not hot spring water.)
- Chiran Room: A traditional Japanese-style room featuring an inner garden and a half-open-air bath with hot spring water. Bamboo and historical touches reflect the legacy of the Satsuma samurai.
- Ibusuki Room: A Satsuma-style Japanese room with a half-open-air stone bath and flowing hot spring water.
- Kirishima Room: A Japanese-Western room with a raised tatami area and a shower booth, built with natural materials and lava stone.
- Japanese & Western Rooms with Twin Beds: Rooms combining tatami floors and beds, decorated with tropical-style furnishings.
- Traditional Japanese Rooms: Classic rooms with tatami flooring and retro-style shower booths.
- Western-Style Rooms: Twin bedrooms with a raised tatami area.
- Standard Japanese Rooms: Quiet spaces with wide verandas, ideal for simple and restful stays.
Yukata robes are available in adult and children’s sizes.
Dining
At Kinkouroh, you can enjoy fusion kaiseki meals that bring out the natural flavors of Kagoshima’s local ingredients. Each meal combines traditional techniques with seasonal foods nurtured by the climate and landscape of Ibusuki and Kinko Bay.
Dinner options include:
- Special Fusion Kaiseki: A full course with lobster, Kuroushi steak, Kurobuta pork shabu-shabu, and sashimi. Each dish uses fresh fish from Kinko Bay and local seasonal vegetables.
- Satsuma Sandaikuro Kaiseki: Features Kagoshima’s three meat specialties—Kurobuta pork, Kuroushi beef, and Kurodori chicken—each prepared differently and served with seasonal fish and vegetables.
- Kurobuta Pork Sukiyaki Kaiseki: Combines sweet, tender pork sukiyaki with a full kaiseki lineup.
- Satsuma Fusion Kaiseki: Includes rich bonito broth with Kurobuta pork shabu-shabu and fresh seafood.
- Traditional Japanese Breakfast: Start your day with broiled fish, sashimi, lobster miso soup, Satsuma-age, and a cup of original coffee or Chiran tea.
For children, Kinkouroh offers two meal plans:
- Deluxe Menu: Includes sashimi, curry rice, grilled meat, salad, fruit, and vanilla ice cream.
- Single Plate Menu: A smaller meal with curry rice, grilled items, salad, and ice cream.
If you have food allergies, let the ryokan know your details in advance. The staff will do their best to accommodate your needs.
