Overview

Laforet Ito Onsen Yunoniwa is a hot spring stay in central Ito, about eight minutes on foot from JR Ito Station. You stay in a warm Japanese-style setting with natural hot spring bathing, tatami rooms, seasonal Izu dining, and easy access to the town’s river walks, shopping streets, and coast.

The hot spring here is called Kenshin-yu, a historic bath once loved by Admiral Heihachiro Togo, who gave it its name. You can enjoy the water in the shared large baths, open-air baths, free private family baths, footbath terrace, and selected rooms with private hot spring baths.

Accommodation

Laforet Ito Onsen Yunoniwa has three main room types: Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-style rooms with beds, and Premium Rooms with hot spring baths. All rooms are non-smoking and designed with a relaxed Japanese feel, so you can take off your shoes, stretch out, and settle into the softer rhythm of Ito.

The Japanese-style rooms are 32 square meters and have tatami flooring, making them a good choice when you want a classic ryokan-style stay or when you travel with children. The Japanese-style rooms with beds are also 32 square meters and give you the comfort of beds while still keeping a tatami-room atmosphere.

The Premium Room with hot spring bath is 44.7 square meters and combines a Japanese room with a twin-bedroom layout. You can enjoy the hotel’s private hot spring source in your own room at any time, which makes this room a strong choice when you want more privacy or a slower bathing experience. Check-out for Premium Room stays is by 11:00, while standard room check-out is by 10:00.

Your room includes Wi-Fi, heating and cooling, a refrigerator, safe, yukata, haori, tabi socks, slippers, towels, and basic bath amenities. Toothbrushes, razors, hairbrushes, and shower caps are sold separately, so bring your own if you prefer.

Dining

Meals are served at Restaurant Shikisai, a first-floor dining space facing Nakaike Pond. Dinner is Japanese kaiseki, with seasonal dishes that use seafood from Ito Port, local ingredients from Izu, and the changing flavors of the season.

Dinner courses include Izumi Kaiseki, Shunsai Kaiseki, and Yunoniwa Kaiseki. Izumi Kaiseki is the standard course and gives you a balanced seasonal meal. Shunsai Kaiseki offers a more upgraded dinner, while Yunoniwa Kaiseki is the highest-grade course and brings in more special ingredients and richer seasonal dishes. Current seasonal menus may include dishes such as grilled tuna with tomato sauce, simmered golden-eye snapper with local mikan, beef and abalone steamed with hot spring heat, conger eel tempura, eel rice, ayu salt-grill, seafood hot pot with Izu tomatoes, Shizuoka pork, and summer vegetables. Ingredients and menus change by season and supply.

Breakfast is a mainly Japanese buffet served at Restaurant Shikisai. You can enjoy warm dishes, local breakfast items, freshly prepared food from the open kitchen, and Ito-style dried fish grilled one by one. On some days, breakfast may be served as a set meal instead of a buffet.

Allergy requests can be discussed in advance. Share the details at least three days before your stay so the kitchen can confirm what can be prepared safely.

Onsen and Wellness

The hot spring bath area is called Kenshin-yu. The water is a weak alkaline simple spring, clear and colorless, and it is associated with recovery from tiredness, neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, bruises, cold sensitivity, chronic digestive concerns, and recovery after illness.

You can use the gender-separated large public baths and open-air baths from 6:00 to 10:00 and from 12:00 to 24:00. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the afternoon bath opening begins at 15:00. The men’s and women’s bath areas switch daily, so you can enjoy both bath settings depending on your stay.

The private family baths are free for overnight stays, open 24 hours, and do not require advance reservation. You can use one when it is available, making it easy to enjoy hot spring bathing with privacy. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and hair dryers are provided in the bath areas.

After bathing, you can rest in the Japanese-style post-bath lounge from 6:00 to 10:00 and from 12:00 to 24:00. The footbath terrace also uses Kenshin-yu hot spring water and lets you warm your feet while looking toward the courtyard. Five types of stepping stones are placed in the footbath area, giving you a small wellness experience between meals and baths.

Guests with Tattoos

Laforet Ito Onsen Yunoniwa has shared public baths, open-air baths, and private family baths. Tattoos must be fully covered with up to two cover stickers measuring 8 cm by 10 cm before bathing. If your tattoo cannot be fully covered, use a Premium Room with its own private hot spring bath for a more comfortable and private stay.

Facilities

Laforet Ito Onsen Yunoniwa has Restaurant Shikisai, shared large hot spring baths, open-air baths, 24-hour private family baths, a post-bath lounge, footbath terrace, lobby lounge, shop, meeting and banquet spaces, and free parking.
