Overview
Stay close to Lake Motosu at Motosu Phoenix Hotel, surrounded by forest at the foot of Mount Fuji. The quieter setting gives you space to step away from busy sightseeing areas while keeping you within reach of the natural attractions around the Fuji Five Lakes.
Moss-covered lava, mature trees, and fresh mountain air shape the landscape around the hotel. You can spend your day exploring Lake Motosu, searching for Mount Fuji viewpoints, hiking through the surrounding highlands, or enjoying seasonal flowers before returning for a buffet dinner and an open-air bath.
Mount Fuji can be seen from parts of the property, including selected rooms and the terrace seating at Restaurant Fuji. Only a limited number of rooms offer a direct Mount Fuji view, and the rooms do not overlook Lake Motosu.
Accommodation
Choose from six room categories across the Main Building and East Wing. Your options include Western twin rooms, Japanese rooms with futon bedding, Japanese-Western rooms with twin beds and a raised tatami area, and a larger special room that combines Western and Japanese sleeping spaces.
The Main Building Japanese-Western Room measures 34 square metres. It includes two single beds and a raised tatami area where an additional futon can be prepared. The Main Building Western Room offers a 23-square-metre twin layout, while the 34-square-metre Japanese Room sits on the top floor of the Main Building and provides a full tatami setting with futon bedding.
For more space, the 54-square-metre Main Building Special Room combines a twin bedroom with a Japanese room. This layout gives you both beds and tatami space, making it well suited to a longer stay or a trip with family.
In the East Wing, you can choose a 27-square-metre Japanese-Western Room with two single beds and a raised tatami area, or a 27-square-metre Western Room with twin beds.
Every room is non-smoking and includes a private bathroom, Washlet toilet, television, electric kettle, hair dryer, air conditioning, heating, and free Wi-Fi. Yukata, slippers, bath towels, face towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, razors, combs, and cotton swabs are also provided.
Dining
Enjoy dinner and breakfast at Restaurant Fuji on the second floor of the Main Building. The spacious restaurant includes terrace seating, where you may see Mount Fuji when the weather is clear.
Dinner is served as a buffet built around seasonal ingredients, local vegetables, meat, traditional Japanese dishes, individual specialities, and sashimi. You can choose each dish at your own pace and return for more of your favourites throughout the meal.
Japanese sake, shochu, and other drinks are available to pair with dinner. A sashimi boat, all-you-can-eat crab, and Koshu beef can also be added when arranged in advance.
Dinner is normally served from 17:30 to 20:30, with the final order at 20:00.
Breakfast is also served as a buffet. The morning selection focuses on lighter choices such as salad, fruit, milk, and fruit juice, alongside other breakfast dishes. Breakfast is normally available from 7:00 to 9:00.
Meals are served in the restaurant rather than in your room. You should wear regular clothing and shoes or outdoor footwear in the restaurant, as room yukata and slippers are not permitted in the dining area or lobby.
Onsen and Wellness
Relax in the large artificial hot spring baths after a day around Lake Motosu. Separate bathing areas are provided for men and women, and each side includes a spacious indoor bath and an open-air bath.
The outdoor baths let you enjoy the cool forest air while soaking in warm water. The men’s bathing area also includes a sauna.
The large baths and open-air baths are normally open from 17:00 to 1:00, followed by a short overnight closure. Morning bathing is available from 2:00 to 9:00.
On selected dates, the large bath may also be reserved for private family or group use when arranged at least ten days before arrival.
Guests with Tattoos
You cannot enter the large indoor baths, open-air baths, or sauna with visible tattoos. You may use these shared bathing facilities only when every tattoo is fully concealed with a suitable covering seal.
Facilities
You can use free Wi-Fi in every room and throughout the building. The hotel also provides three karaoke rooms, a lobby shop selling Yamanashi souvenirs and drinks, vending machines, elevators, and designated smoking rooms on selected floors. The shop is normally open from 7:00 to 22:00.
A coin-operated laundry room is available on the basement floor 24 hours a day. The washing machines add detergent automatically, and separate dryers are provided.
Accessibility features include a dedicated escalator along the route between the rooms and restaurant, as well as a multipurpose toilet in the first-floor lobby. Free on-site parking is available, while pets cannot stay at the hotel.
Activities
Lake Motosu gives you a scenic setting for lakeside walks, photography, water activities, and views of Mount Fuji. The lake is known for the view that inspired the Mount Fuji image used on Japanese banknotes.
For a closer look at that landscape, hike to the Nakanokura Pass viewpoint. The trail climbs in a series of turns to the place where photographer Koyo Okada captured the famous image of Mount Fuji reflected in Lake Motosu.
Motosuko Dive Resort is also close to the hotel. You can explore the lake underwater with an experienced guide, with facilities such as showers and changing rooms available at the diving centre.
During spring, visit the Fuji Shibazakura Festival to see fields of pink, white, and purple moss phlox with Mount Fuji rising behind them. The same site presents colourful seasonal flowers and green landscapes during the summer event period.
Back at the hotel, you can enjoy karaoke, browse local souvenirs in the shop, or end your day with an indoor or open-air bath.
