Overview

You stay at Oyado Asaka, a private whole-property ryokan in Matsuzaki, a small coastal town on the southwest side of the Izu Peninsula. The ryokan sits about a 3-minute walk from Matsuzaki Beach, so you can easily head out for sea air, coastal walks, and sunset time by the water.

This is a full rental stay for your group only. You do not share the building with other people, and the official FAQ states that no staff stay on site. You can settle in, use the common spaces freely, and enjoy the baths on your own schedule.

Accommodation

You stay in a spacious Japanese-style ryokan with seven bedrooms and space for up to 29 people. The rooms use futon bedding, with four futons prepared in most rooms and five futons in one room. The number of bedrooms you use depends on your group size.

All bedrooms are Japanese-style rooms, with traditional details such as tatami, hanging scrolls, and sliding doors. Each room has air conditioning, so you can stay comfortable in both summer and winter. Each floor also has a toilet and washbasin.

Dining

Meals are not included, so you have full freedom over what and when you eat. You can cook in the island kitchen, bring in fresh local seafood, or eat at restaurants in Matsuzaki. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, electric kettle, tableware, cutlery, cookware, oven range, and IH stove.

You can also use the Weber BBQ grill free of charge. A new grill net is prepared each time, but you need to bring your own food, charcoal, fire starter, and seasonings. BBQ use must finish by 21:00 because the property is in a residential area.

Onsen and Wellness

You can enjoy Matsuzaki Onsen in both an indoor bath and an open-air bath. The hot spring is source-flowing, and you can use both baths whenever you like during your stay.

The official site describes the spring as a sodium-calcium sulfate spring with clear water. It is said to help with concerns such as neuralgia and sensitivity to cold. After beach time, sightseeing, or a long drive through Izu, you can return to the ryokan and soak without following a public bath schedule.

Guests with Tattoos

There are no public onsen restrictions to worry about here. Since you use the baths privately as part of the rental, tattoos do not present an issue. You can bathe freely and comfortably throughout your stay.

Facilities

You have plenty to enjoy inside the ryokan. The large banquet room includes a 150-inch screen, projector, Netflix, DAM karaoke, massage chair, board games, and manga. Karaoke should not be used after 22:00.

The playroom includes table tennis, Taiko no Tatsujin, Whac-A-Mole, and air hockey. You can also use the washing machine and dryer, outdoor shower, vending machines, BBQ grill, kitchen, indoor bath, and open-air bath. Parking is free and available for up to 7 cars, with 4 spaces on site and extra spaces near the beach.

Activities

You can walk to the nearby beach for morning strolls or sunset views. Inside the house, games and entertainment spaces keep everyone occupied regardless of the weather. Barbecue evenings offer a simple way to enjoy time together without leaving the property.

If you want to explore further, the surrounding area offers coastal scenery and small-town sights suitable for relaxed day trips.

Additional Features

  • Self check-in for flexible arrival times
