Overview

Private Resort Kawazu gives you a fully private villa stay in Kawazu, on the eastern side of the Izu Peninsula. Set beside clear flowing water and surrounded by deep greenery, this one-group-per-day rental villa lets you step away from daily noise and enjoy time with family or friends in your own space.

Renovated in summer 2025, the villa brings together the warmth of a Japanese house with easy Western-style comfort. You can soak in your private hot spring bath, use the barrel sauna, cook together in the kitchen, enjoy BBQ in the garden, or spend a quiet night with the projector after a day in Izu. This is a stay made for slowing down, gathering together, and enjoying the feeling of having a whole retreat to yourself.

Accommodation

Private Resort Kawazu is a spacious 197-square-meter private villa with a 4LDK layout. The first floor has the living room, dining room, kitchen, hot spring bath, and toilet, while the second floor has four bedrooms and two toilets. The villa can accommodate up to 13 people, making it a good choice for families, multi-generation trips, and group stays.

The second-floor sleeping spaces include two Japanese-Western rooms and two Japanese rooms. One Japanese-Western room has a queen bed, while the other has two semi-double beds and three single beds. The Japanese rooms each have futon bedding, giving you a simple and flexible way to sleep in a more traditional style.

Inside, the villa feels open and comfortable without losing its Japanese character. Wood details, tatami spaces, and the quiet natural setting help you settle in quickly. The living area is made for gathering, whether you are sharing meals, watching a movie, talking late into the evening, or relaxing after a hot spring bath.

Amenities include air conditioning, towels, bath towels, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, face wash, toothbrushes, combs, cotton, razors, and body towels. A washing machine and dryer are also available, which makes the villa practical for longer stays.

Dining

Meals at Private Resort Kawazu are self-catering, so you can cook and eat at your own pace. The kitchen is equipped for proper home-style cooking, with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, frying pans, pots, kettle, knives, cutting boards, bowls, strainers, peeler, grater, wine opener, ladle, spatula, tongs, cooking chopsticks, scissors, dishes, glasses, wine glasses, mugs, chopsticks, cutlery, and rice bowls.

Basic seasonings are prepared, including salt, sugar, salt and pepper, soy sauce, and cooking oil. A coffee set is also available, so you can start the morning slowly with coffee while listening to the river and looking out toward the trees.

For outdoor dining, you can use the overseas-made gas BBQ grill between 9:00 and 21:00 for an additional fee. You bring your own ingredients, sauces, skewers, and any extra items you want for grilling. Charcoal grills cannot be brought in or used, and the BBQ area has no roof, so it cannot be used in the rain unless you bring your own tarp.

Onsen and Wellness

Private Resort Kawazu has its own private hot spring bath inside the villa. You do not share the bath with anyone outside your group, so you can enjoy the hot spring in a completely private setting. After a day of driving, sightseeing, or time outdoors, you can soak quietly and let the warmth help you reset.

The garden also has a barrel sauna available as a paid option. You can use it without advance reservation by paying through the on-site QR code, and swimwear is required. The sauna is a strong part of the stay if you want to alternate between heat, fresh air, and cool-down time in nature.

This is not a large ryokan with shared bathing areas. The experience is more personal: your own villa, your own bath, your own sauna time, and the sound of the river close by.

Guests with Tattoos

Private Resort Kawazu has a private hot spring bath inside the villa and no shared public bath. You can enjoy the bath with tattoos.

Facilities

Private Resort Kawazu is designed for private group stays rather than shared resort facilities. You have the whole villa, garden, hot spring bath, kitchen, living and dining area, four bedrooms, barrel sauna, BBQ space, washer, dryer, and parking area to yourself. The projector lets you watch Amazon Prime Video and YouTube, while paid streaming services such as Netflix or Hulu can be used with your own account. Terrestrial TV is not available.

Wi-Fi is available, but the connection may be unstable because the property uses carrier-based communication rather than a fiber-optic line. The villa also has smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector, and a fire extinguisher. Parking is available for two standard cars, and you need to walk down around 15 steps from the parking area to reach the entrance.

Pets cannot stay at Private Resort Kawazu. Smoking is not allowed indoors, but you can smoke on the balcony or in the smoking space near the entrance. Fireworks are not allowed on the property.

Activities

Private Resort Kawazu is made for slow, private time in nature. You can spend the morning with coffee, cook together in the kitchen, soak in the hot spring, enjoy sauna time, or listen to the sound of the river from the garden. A few steps down toward the river, you can enjoy the water and the surrounding natural setting, which makes the stay especially memorable in warmer seasons.

The villa also works well as a base for exploring Kawazu and the wider Izu area. You can visit beaches, waterfalls, hot spring town spots, seasonal flowers, and local restaurants during the day, then return to a private villa where you do not need to share the evening with anyone outside your group.

At night, you can keep the stay simple with a movie, a relaxed meal, quiet conversation, or time outside under the trees. Because the villa sits in a quiet residential-style area, outdoor noise should be kept low, especially at night.

Additional Features

Check-in is from 16:00 to 22:00, and check-out is by 10:00. Entry is self check-in, with a PIN sent through the check-in form before your stay. Support for check-in issues is not available after 22:00, so you should arrive within the stated time.

Kawazu Station is about 10 minutes away by car. If you use public transport, the nearest bus stop is Shimosagano, about three minutes away on foot. Taxi availability can be limited and cannot always be reserved in advance, so arriving by car is the easiest option.

Early check-in and late check-out may be possible for an additional hourly fee, depending on availability. Any change in the number of people should be made by the day before your stay, because pricing changes according to the number of people staying.
