Overview
Aoyama Yamato is a hot spring ryokan in Ito Onsen, set on a quiet hill in Izu with views toward the town, the mountains, and Sagami Bay. You come here for soft 100% source-flowing hot spring water, Japanese-style rooms, seasonal Izu cuisine, and a relaxed stay with thoughtful service.
The atmosphere feels calm from the moment you arrive. Large windows, tatami rooms, warm hospitality, and open views help you settle into the slower pace of Ito. After a soak in Seizan no Yu, you can enjoy dinner in your room or in a private dining room, then return to a spacious room designed for rest.
Accommodation
Aoyama Yamato has 42 rooms, with room types for solo stays, couples, families, and larger groups. You can choose from premium rooms with private open-air baths, deluxe rooms with an extra adjoining room, standard Japanese-style rooms, barrier-free Western-style rooms with open-air baths, and connecting rooms that combine a Western twin room with a Japanese-style room.
The premium rooms give you the most private bathing experience. Some have 100% source-flowing open-air baths, while others use hot spring water with circulation filtration. These rooms work well when you want to soak at your own pace without leaving your room. The special premium room includes a 12.5-tatami room, an 8-tatami room, a private open-air bath, and generous space for a slower stay.
The deluxe and standard Japanese-style rooms keep a classic ryokan feel, with tatami flooring, wide windows, and views of the Izu mountains or Ito townscape. Standard rooms come in 12.5-tatami and 10-tatami layouts, and they include a private bath and washlet toilet. The in-room indoor baths use heated tap water, not hot spring water, except for specific room types with hot spring bath features.
The barrier-free Western-style rooms have twin beds and private open-air baths, making them easier to use if you prefer beds or need a room with simpler movement. The connecting rooms combine a Western twin room with a 15-tatami Japanese room, giving you more space when you travel with family or a multi-generation group.
Your room includes Wi-Fi, heating and cooling, a refrigerator, tea items, yukata, towels, and basic bath amenities. Smoking is not allowed inside rooms, and a smoking space is available on the second floor.
Dining
Dinner at Aoyama Yamato is Japanese kaiseki built around the pleasure of choice. Depending on your plan, you can choose some items such as the aperitif and main dish, so the meal feels more personal. Menus change monthly or seasonally, and meals are served either in your room or in a private dining room, depending on your room type and plan.
The main kaiseki course, Yamato Yuzen, includes seasonal flavors and lets you choose from several main dishes. You may enjoy Izu seafood, local fish, abalone, meat dishes, vegetables, and carefully prepared seasonal plates. The special Daigomi course focuses on richer Izu flavors such as spiny lobster sashimi, abalone, and golden-eye snapper dishes, making it a good choice for celebrations or a more indulgent meal.
Breakfast is a Japanese morning meal with freshly cooked rice, hot miso soup, Ito-style dried horse mackerel, Izu wasabi pickles, steamed seasonal vegetables, and yosedofu. The meal feels warm and satisfying without being heavy, giving you a comfortable start before sightseeing or another hot spring soak.
Dinner usually begins at 18:00 or 18:30 for in-room dining, and at 18:00 or 18:45 for private dining rooms. Breakfast usually begins at 8:00 or 8:30.
Onsen and Wellness
Aoyama Yamato’s hot spring area is called Seizan no Yu. The shared large baths, open-air baths, and private family bath all use 100% source-flowing Ito Onsen water blended from three sources. During hotter periods, water may be added to adjust the temperature because the water enters the tubs at a high temperature.
The spring quality is a simple alkaline spring with clear water and a pH of 8.43. The water feels soft on the skin and is known for leaving your skin feeling smooth after bathing. The shared bath area includes large indoor baths, open-air baths, and dry saunas.
The open-air baths are Hoshi no Yu and Kaze no Yu. Hoshi no Yu is a deep rock bath facing the trees, and at night you can look up toward the sky while you soak. Kaze no Yu has an open feeling and may feel almost sky-like when mist moves through the area. The large indoor baths, Tsuki no Yu and Hana no Yu, look toward Ito town and Sagami Bay, with views that change by weather and time of day.
The private family bath, Suzume no Yu, is a nostalgic hinoki barrel-style bath that can be reserved by time slot. It is useful when you want privacy, when you are staying with children, or when you prefer not to use the shared baths. The post-bath lounge has cold drinks such as Izu natural water and shiso juice, along with free massage chairs for a quiet cool-down.
Guests with Tattoos
Aoyama Yamato has shared public indoor baths and open-air baths, and tattoos, including fashion tattoos, are not accepted in these shared bathing areas. You can use the bath in your room or reserve the private family bath instead. Rooms with private open-air baths are the best choice when you want to enjoy hot spring bathing with full privacy.
Facilities
Aoyama Yamato has Lounge Tea Club Sakura, private dining rooms, private restaurant spaces Tsubakian and Omuro, banquet and party spaces, Convention Hall Aoyama, souvenir shop Michikusa, Aroma Esthe Kirakira, shared hot spring baths, a private family bath, a post-bath lounge, a second-floor smoking space, and parking. The lounge has large windows facing the garden and serves drinks such as original tea, cold-brew coffee, Chinese tea, coffee, milk, cocoa, fruit juice, and smoothies. The aroma esthetic room offers all-hand treatments using essential oils, while the souvenir shop gives you a place to pick up local items and small gifts before leaving.
Activities
You can spend most of your time inside the ryokan, moving between your room, the baths, the lounge, dinner, and quiet rest. The private family bath, rooms with open-air baths, and in-room or private dining options make the stay easy when you want privacy or a slower pace.
The ryokan also supports special occasions such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries, long-life celebrations, okuizome ceremonies, and multi-generation trips. Baby-friendly plans include support items, private or in-room dining options, and the private bath option, making the stay easier when you travel with young children.
Outside the ryokan, Ito gives you beaches, seasonal fireworks, coastal scenery, local seafood, and easy access to wider Izu sightseeing. You can visit Ito’s old town area, explore the coast, or travel farther toward places such as Jogasaki Coast, Mount Omuro, and other Izu attractions.
