Overview

Sekitei offers you a refined and peaceful escape on the opposite shore of Miyajima Island in Hiroshima. With its acclaimed Japanese garden ranked among the top in the country, this ryokan surrounds you with nature, craftsmanship, and the essence of Japanese culture. Every corner invites you to slow down and absorb the spirit of traditional Japan—through architecture, design, fine food, and soothing hot springs. Your stay here brings you face-to-face with the heart of Japanese beauty.

Accommodation

Sekitei has only 12 rooms, giving you a private and quiet experience. Each room has its own character and view—some look out across the Seto Inland Sea and Miyajima Island, while others face the lush garden. You can stay in the main building, one of the garden-facing separate buildings, or a summer house with a unique atmosphere.

All rooms include a private outdoor or semi-outdoor bath, so you can soak at your own pace. Rooms come with tatami flooring, heated floors, air conditioning, and fans. You’ll also find bathrobes, towels, shampoo, hair dryers, and more. A wireless internet connection is available in most rooms. If you need extra items like a DVD player, iron, or cosmetics, just ask the staff—they’ll bring them to your room.

Dining

Sekitei serves beautifully prepared Japanese meals using the freshest ingredients from the sea, mountains, and local farms. Dinner is served in your room, allowing you to enjoy the flavors of the season in privacy and comfort. Breakfast may be served either in your room or in the dining hall, depending on your preference.

The ryokan’s traditional Kaiseki cuisine changes with the seasons. You can enjoy a meal filled with texture, color, and flavor—each dish crafted to balance your senses and nourish your body.

Onsen and Wellness

Every room at Sekitei comes with its own private bath—either outdoor or semi-outdoor—so you can bathe in complete privacy. The water comes from a simple radon hot spring, known for easing muscle pain, neuralgia, fatigue, and chronic discomfort. This natural mineral spring supports both your physical health and peace of mind.

The baths are designed to reflect nature. Soak under the sky, look out at the sea, or enjoy the quiet of the garden. Let your mind slow down as warm water surrounds you.

Guests with Tattoos

Since all rooms include private baths, you can relax freely even if you have tattoos. There’s no need to use public baths, so your privacy is always protected.

Facilities

Sekitei offers several relaxing spaces outside your room. You can read or sip tea in the underground library terrace or visit one of the salons tucked throughout the property. Each salon overlooks the garden and offers a cozy place to reflect or chat. You’ll also find a gift shop, a table-style meal space, and a bar café in the lounge.

Wireless internet is available in the public areas, and rooms without steps are available if you need barrier-free access. If you’re using a wheelchair or need special assistance, contact the ryokan in advance.

Activities

Take your time exploring Sekitei’s award-winning garden. Paths curve gently through moss-covered stones, shaped pine trees, and seasonal flowers. Whether you’re enjoying the view from your room or walking through the grounds, you’ll feel a sense of calm in every detail.

You can also enjoy moments of peace in the tea salons or the library lounge. These quiet spaces give you time to read, sip tea, or simply enjoy the view.
