Overview

Step into Senkyoro and leave your worries behind. Surrounded by the forests and mountains of Hakone, this ryokan welcomes you with warm Japanese-style architecture and healing hot spring baths. Slip into a soft yukata robe, open the window, and breathe in the crisp mountain air. Watch the garden sway in the breeze. Let the white, mineral-rich hot spring water smooth your skin and calm your spirit. Senkyoro offers peace, privacy, and a deep connection with nature.

Accommodation

Senkyoro offers Japanese-style rooms filled with soft tatami floors and gentle lighting. Each room opens to the garden or the mountains, letting you enjoy the seasons through your window. You can choose from a range of rooms—some simple and relaxing, others with private open-air hot spring baths.

If you want complete privacy, stay in one of the Oku-no-Kigi villas. Each of the six wooden villas includes a private open-air hot spring, a cozy bedroom, and a dining area where you can enjoy meals in peace. Whether you stay in the main building or a villa, your room becomes your own quiet retreat.

Dining

Enjoy traditional Japanese kaiseki meals prepared with seasonal ingredients from local farms and waters. The chefs handcraft each course, from fresh sashimi to grilled dishes and simmered vegetables. Every dish is served at the perfect moment so you can relax and enjoy each bite.

Depending on your room, your dinner may be served in the hotel restaurant or in your room. Each meal includes:

  • Amuse-bouche
  • Appetizers
  • Soup
  • Sashimi
  • Grilled dish
  • Middle course
  • Simmered dish
  • Seasonal course

Rice served at Senkyoro is grown in Japan. Menus change with the seasons and availability, ensuring each meal feels fresh and unique.

Onsen and Wellness

Senkyoro’s hot springs flow directly from the source at Owakudani. The water is naturally white and silky, rich in minerals like sulfur and calcium. These acidic waters have a pH of 2.0 and are known to smooth rough or dry skin. No chemicals or pumps are used—just gravity carries the pure hot spring water into the baths.

You can relax in the indoor bath, Yuten-no-kura, which is open 24 hours a day. Or step outside to Haguregumo, the open-air bath with views of Hakone’s sky and forest. This bath closes at midnight for safety.

Some rooms include their own private open-air hot springs:

  • Otomenoyu: A stone tub surrounded by natural rock
  • Kintokinoyu: A warm wooden tub surrounded by trees

If you want to bathe in complete privacy and on your own schedule, choose a room with one of these private baths.

Guests with Tattoos

You can enjoy private baths in your room without restrictions. These are perfect if you prefer a more secluded hot spring experience.

Facilities

Senkyoro’s public spaces include peaceful lounges and walking paths. You can explore the grounds wearing your yukata and enjoy the calm of nature. Wireless internet is available throughout much of the property.

Garden

Senkyoro’s garden covers over 12 acres of land. Every season brings something new—cherry blossoms in spring, deep green leaves in summer, bright red foliage in autumn, and the silence of snow in winter. Birds call from the trees, and flowers bloom along the winding paths.

A full walk around the garden takes about 20–30 minutes. You can take your time, moving slowly in your yukata. Whether you walk in the early morning light or during the quiet of dusk, the garden offers peace and beauty in every step.
