Overview
Step into Senoumi and surround yourself with the colors, sounds, and flavors of the sea. This oceanfront ryokan in Izu Inatori lets you feel the coast from the moment you arrive. Every part of the building—from the entrance to your room—is lined with soft tatami. Walk barefoot, breathe in the ocean breeze, and enjoy a stay that feels both relaxing and vivid. The name Senoumi comes from the nearby shallows, a perfect home for fish. At this ryokan, you taste the ocean, soak in its warmth, and gaze at its ever-changing face.
Accommodation
All rooms face the ocean. You can watch the sea and coastline from your window, your open-air bath, or your bed. The rooms vary in size and style, but each one invites you to settle in and enjoy the view.
Room types include:
- Aoi: A spacious modern room with twin beds and an open-air bath on the balcony, designed in deep blue with touches of local stone.
- Haruka: A modern Japanese room with a private outdoor bath where you can watch the changing colors of the sea and sky.
- Tenjinbara: A universal-access suite with twin beds, tatami space, and an ocean-facing terrace.
- C and D types: Classic Japanese rooms with open-air baths made of ceramic or cypress wood.
Each room includes thoughtful touches: tea and snacks, yukata robes, and soothing natural design.
Dining
Senoumi focuses on fresh seafood—especially kinmedai, the splendid alfonsino caught in local waters. You can enjoy it simmered, grilled, in sushi, or as shabu-shabu. The ryokan’s signature dish is the Fisherman’s Grill, where you cook lobster, abalone, turban shell, and shrimp at your table using a smokeless grill.
Dinner may include:
- Simmered whole kinmedai, cooked slowly in sake and sugar for deep, sweet flavor
- Kinmedai nigiri sushi
- Abalone sashimi or grilled whole in its shell
- Ise-ebi (spiny lobster), either raw or grilled with sweet soy glaze
- Optional upgrades with sashimi boats, grilled delicacies, and local wagyu beef
All meals are served in the dining room Narai no Kaze, a quiet and comfortable space with semi-private seating. You can also book a fully private room or banquet space for group meals.
For breakfast, you start the day with dishes like grilled kinmedai, dried horse mackerel, miso soup made with lobster stock, and soft-boiled eggs cooked in hot spring water. All are served fresh each morning in the dining area.
Onsen and Wellness
Senoumi draws hot spring water from its own private source. The water rises from 50 meters underground, naturally rich in iron, manganese, and salt. The baths are slightly tea-colored and help warm your body from the inside out.
On the top floor, the large public bath and open-air bath offer panoramic views of the ocean. You can soak while watching the waves, the sunset, or a sky full of stars.
Bath facilities include:
- Open-air bath for men (Tengusa) and women (Nadeshiko)
- Indoor baths (Umi no Yu and Hana no Yu)
- Sauna and cold plunge bath (men’s area only)
- Private bath (Futari Yu), with soft cypress scent and sea views, available by reservation
Guests with tattoos
Senoumi does not allow entry to the public baths for individuals with tattoos. Thank you for your understanding. You can use a private bath if you have tattoos.
Facilities
After your bath, head to the lounge and relax with a drink while gazing through floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the sea. The entire ryokan is tatami-lined, giving you a soft, barefoot experience throughout the building. For day use, you can enjoy the onsen and lounge areas after sightseeing.
A vending corner, souvenir shop, and private lockers are available on site. You’ll also find free parking along the coast.
Activities
Senoumi is a perfect base for exploring Izu. You’re just a short drive from the famous Kawazu cherry blossoms and family-friendly attractions in the Atagawa and Kitagawa areas. After your trip, return to the ryokan for a relaxing soak and a seafood-filled dinner.
