Overview
At Shoraiso, time slows to the rhythm of rustling trees and flowing water. Inspired by the word Shorai—the echo of wind and the quiet trickle of a tea ceremony—this modern retreat invites you to listen, reflect, and unwind. Located in the peaceful hot spring town of Yudanaka, Shoraiso opened in March 2024 as a ryokan where every detail supports true rest.
Surrounded by mountains and quiet streets, this five-room hideaway blends traditional design with elegant comfort. Whether you’re soaking in an open-air bath, relaxing in a tatami room, or sipping tea on your private terrace, each moment invites you deeper into stillness.
Accommodation
Shoraiso offers just five rooms, each with its own open-air bath fed by Yudanaka’s natural hot spring. With spacious layouts and private gardens, every room feels like a quiet world of its own. Designed for adults only, the entire ryokan maintains an atmosphere of calm and refinement.

This ground-floor suite features two tatami rooms (10 and 6 mats), a dining area, terrace, and small private garden. Accommodates up to 4 people on futons.
Hagi – Japanese Suite (90㎡ + terrace 5㎡)
Similar in layout to Kiku, Hagi also includes two traditional Japanese rooms, dining space, and a garden-view terrace. Suited for 2 to 4 people with futons.
Nadeshiko – Japanese-Western Room (94㎡ + terrace 5㎡)
This spacious hybrid suite includes a bedroom with twin beds, one tatami room (10 mats), a dining area, and a private terrace. Ideal for couples or small groups.
Komakusa – Twin Room (60㎡ + terrace 5㎡)
Located on the second floor, Komakusa features two twin beds, a cozy living room, and a terrace. Best suited for solo travelers or pairs.
Shakunage – Twin Room (60㎡ + terrace 3㎡)
Also upstairs, this twin room mirrors Komakusa with slightly smaller terrace space, offering privacy and warmth for one or two travelers.
Each room includes Wi-Fi, an air purifier, a toilet with bidet function, a hot water pot and tea set, refrigerator, and TV. You’ll also find yukata robes, samue loungewear, and a full set of amenities including lotion, razors, facial cleanser, toothbrushes, and more.
Children under 13 are not allowed, ensuring a restful experience for every adult visitor.
Dining
At Shoraiso, meals are served in your room’s private dining space or in a separate private dining room. Each course is carefully prepared using seasonal local ingredients and traditional Japanese techniques. Whether you’re enjoying the flavors of mountain vegetables in spring or warming dishes in winter, each meal complements the rhythm of the season.
You’ll find dishes that balance elegance and heartiness—designed to nourish after a day of travel, hot springs, or simply rest. If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, let the ryokan know in advance so they can tailor your meal.
Onsen and Wellness
Every room includes its own open-air bath filled with Yudanaka’s natural hot spring water. This mineral-rich water flows directly from the source, offering a deep, restorative soak.
In addition to your private bath, you can also enjoy the Momoyama and Shinonome communal baths, or book a session in the private spa located at the adjacent Yorozuya. These extra facilities offer more space to relax and a change in scenery—ideal for longer stays or special occasions.
Guests with Tattoos
Since all rooms include private open-air baths, guests with tattoos can fully enjoy the onsen experience without restrictions or concerns.
