Overview
The Happo by HHG gives you a polished mountain hotel stay in the center of Happo, Hakuba. The hotel sits close to Happo One Resort, making it easy to reach the slopes in winter and the hiking, gondola, and outdoor routes in green season.
This is a strong choice when you want Hakuba convenience with a refined alpine feel. You have an in-house onsen, Finnish sauna, ski lockers with heated boot racks, room service ordering, dining and bar options, rental and retail support in the same plaza, and easy access to restaurants, nightlife, and village transport.
Accommodation
The Happo offers 30 rooms with a clean alpine design and practical layouts for ski trips, hiking stays, couples, friends, and families. Room types include Superior rooms, Deluxe double or twin rooms, Deluxe Triple rooms, Family rooms, and The Happo Suite.
Superior rooms suit two people and include a double or twin setup, walk-in shower, washlet, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, and storage space. Deluxe rooms add more room to relax, with either a double or twin setup and selected layouts that include a daybed. Deluxe Triple rooms work well when you want three proper sleeping spaces and more room after a day outdoors.
The Family Room gives you a larger layout with a main bed setup, bunk beds, lounge space, two sinks, a bathtub, separate toilet, and enough space for a family stay. The Happo Suite offers the most spacious two-person stay, with panoramic mountain views, lounge space, a bathtub, two sinks, and a more private feeling within the hotel.
Rooms include useful features such as large TVs, Wi-Fi, refrigerator, washlet, walk-in shower or bathtub depending on room type, storage, and daily service. The design keeps things simple, warm, and easy to use after skiing, snowboarding, hiking, or exploring Hakuba.
Dining
The Happo gives you several easy dining options inside or connected to the hotel. The Clubhouse serves coffee and Australian-inspired breakfast from morning, then becomes a relaxed bar and social space later in the day. It is a comfortable place to start with coffee before heading out or return to for a drink after time on the mountain.
Gio’s at The Happo Hotel offers all-day dining with Italian cooking, locally sourced ingredients, handmade pasta, wine, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The style suits you well when you want a proper meal without leaving the building, especially after a long ski day or summer mountain outing.
Room service ordering is also available through the hotel’s online platform, including coffee and bottled wine. This adds a practical option when you want to stay in your room, keep things low-key, or settle in after arrival.
Onsen and Wellness
The Happo has an in-house onsen for hotel stays. The bath area was renovated and includes a large warm bath, cold bath, Finnish sauna, and room-key access. It gives you an easy recovery space after skiing, snowboarding, cycling, hiking, or walking around the village.
The hot spring comes from the Hakuba Happo Onsen area, one of Hakuba’s most distinctive springs. The water is an alkaline simple hot spring with a very high pH and a smooth feel on the skin. Happo Onsen is supplied from wells in the Happo-one area and is known for its connection to serpentine rock and natural hydrogen.
There is no private in-house onsen listed for The Happo. The main bathing experience is the shared hotel onsen, paired with the sauna and cold bath.
Guests with Tattoos
The Happo has a shared in-house onsen. Hakuba Happo Onsen welcomes bathers with tattoos, so you can use the shared hot spring bath with tattoos.
Facilities
The Happo has an in-house onsen, Finnish sauna, cold bath, restaurant and bar spaces, coffee service, room service ordering, reception support, Wi-Fi, laundry, parking, ski rental coordination, retail and rental access in The Happo Plaza, and premium ski lockers with heated boot racks.
The ski lockers are especially useful in winter. Each room has access to secure storage with boot heating, helping your gear dry overnight before another day on the slopes. Rhythm Summit and Rhythm Happo are located in The Happo Plaza, making rental and retail needs easy to handle close to your room.
The hotel also focuses on smooth arrival and movement around Hakuba. Electronic self check-in, online food ordering, ski gear coordination, pick-up and drop-off service, and shuttle access help keep the stay simple.
Activities
The Happo places you close to Happo One Resort, one of Hakuba’s best-known ski areas. In winter, you can ski, snowboard, arrange rental gear, use the local shuttle network, and return quickly to the hotel for the onsen and sauna.
In green season, Hakuba opens up for hiking, mountain biking, rafting, canyoning, paragliding, gondola rides, and mountain-view walks. The hotel also works well for non-ski days, with cafés, restaurants, bars, shops, hot spring facilities, and village walks nearby.
The wider area gives you access to Hakuba Valley resorts, Iwatake, Hakuba 47 and Goryu, Happo-ike Pond hikes, Tsugaike nature routes, and day trips toward Nagano’s temples, castles, and countryside sights.
