Overview
At Lector Atami Momoyama, you stay on a hillside above central Atami, around seven minutes on foot from JR Atami Station. From the rooftop terrace and open-air bath, you can look across Sagami Bay and the city below. On selected evenings, the terrace also gives you a clear view of the Atami Marine Fireworks Festival.
This casual hot spring hotel lets you shape your stay around your own plans. You can collect a boxed breakfast and eat on the terrace, reserve a private open-air bath, enjoy a private sauna session, or spend a quiet evening reading manga in the lounge. Atami Station, local restaurants, shopping streets, and transport links are also within easy reach.
Accommodation
The main and annex buildings have three room categories, all with twin or triple bed layouts. Every room is non-smoking and includes free Wi-Fi, a television, refrigerator, electric kettle, safe, private bathroom, and toilet with a warm-water washing function.
The Superior Triple measures 35.34 square metres and includes three beds, with an extra bed available when you need additional sleeping space. The raised sleeping area creates a clear separation between the beds and the rest of the room, giving you more freedom to sit together and organise your luggage. This room is located in the main building and works well when you are travelling with family or friends.
The Superior Twin measures between 21.56 and 26.04 square metres. Two beds come as standard, while an extra bed can be added when you are staying together as a small group. You also have an air purifier and enough floor space to relax after exploring Atami.
The Compact Twin measures between 14.25 and 15.08 square metres and includes two beds. This practical room is located in the annex above the main building. Reaching it involves the equivalent of around six or seven floors of stairs, making it better suited to you when you travel light and have no difficulty with steps.
The nearby SMART wing expands your choice with double, twin, triple, and bunk-bed rooms. Five of its thirteen rooms include a private open-air bath supplied with natural Atami hot spring water. You can also choose larger twin and triple layouts when you would like more space or are travelling together.
Dining
Meals follow a flexible boxed style, allowing you to eat in your room, in the lounge, or outside on Momoyama Terrace. You are not tied to a formal restaurant setting or a long dining schedule, making this approach convenient when you want to spend more time sightseeing.
Breakfast comes in an American-style box with three types of bread that change from day to day. You can collect it between 07:30 and 08:30 and take it to your preferred place inside the building. On a clear morning, Momoyama Terrace gives you an inviting setting for breakfast with views towards the sea and city.
For dinner, you can choose between two local bento meals when you book an eligible dining plan. The Atami Irodori Bento includes regional foods such as rice with plum-flavoured minced meat and Atami ika menchi, a squid cake prepared by the long-established local shop Yamada-ya. Several items have been recognised through the Atami Collection A-PLUS programme.
The seafood bento combines shirasu and tuna in one colourful meal. You can collect dinner between 18:00 and 19:00, then eat wherever you feel most comfortable. Contents can change with seasonal availability.
Onsen and Wellness
The hot spring facilities use water classified as a calcium-sodium chloride and sulphate spring. Bathing indications include neuralgia, muscle and joint discomfort, stiffness, bruises, sprains, sensitivity to cold, and recovery from fatigue.
You can soak in an indoor public bath or head to the rooftop open-air bath for views across Atami and Sagami Bay. The elevated setting feels especially rewarding in the early morning and after dark, when the city lights begin to appear below you.
For more privacy, you can reserve one of the two rooftop open-air baths, En or Yui. Each private session lasts 45 minutes, giving you time to bathe together without entering the shared bathing areas. Reservation slots are available during the afternoon, evening, and early morning.
When you stay in the SMART wing, you also have access to three private baths supplied with free-flowing hot spring water. These baths do not require an advance reservation and are included with your stay. Selected SMART rooms provide another private option through an open-air bath inside your accommodation.
Private Sauna Rin gives you a quiet place to enjoy the heat alone or together. The sauna accommodates one or two people and operates from 16:00 to 22:00. You can arrange a session on the day of use.
Guests with Tattoos
Tattoos are not allowed.
Facilities
Momoyama Terrace sits on the rooftop with views across the city and sea. You can bring your breakfast here, relax between baths, or watch the Atami Marine Fireworks Festival when your stay matches an event date. An outdoor smoking area is also located on the terrace.
The lounge opens from 15:00 to 22:00 and again from 06:00 to 10:00. You can settle into a relaxation chair, watch television, or choose something from the manga corner. Availability can be limited when the space is being used for another purpose.
The entrance area provides a place to choose your yukata and collect selected toiletries. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms, meeting areas, and shared spaces.
Conference and meeting facilities include a larger conference room and two smaller meeting rooms. These spaces suit company retreats, workshops, group discussions, and private meetings and require advance arrangements.
The main and annex buildings do not have an elevator. You need to use stairs throughout the property, and some routes include many steps and changes in level. Choosing a main-building room is the easier option when climbing stairs may be difficult for you.
Activities
You can spend a slow day moving between the rooftop bath, private sauna, lounge, and terrace without leaving the hotel. A boxed breakfast outdoors, an evening private bath, and time with a book or manga create an easy hot spring break even during a short stay.
JR Atami Station places the city’s shopping streets, cafés, sweet shops, and transport connections within walking distance. You can browse for local food, head towards the coast and Atami Sun Beach, or use buses and trains to explore gardens, museums, shrines, and other areas around Atami.
The Atami Marine Fireworks Festival is one of the main reasons to choose Momoyama Terrace. When weather and event arrangements allow, you can watch the display rise above the city and bay without travelling to the crowded waterfront.
Additional Features
Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00. All rooms are non-smoking, with smoking limited to the designated outdoor area.
A reservation-only transfer service is available from JR Atami Station. You can also arrange a luggage carry service, allowing you to leave your bags and begin exploring Atami without taking them up the hillside yourself.
There is no private parking at Lector Atami Momoyama. When you arrive by car, you need to use a paid public car park nearby.
Celebration cakes can be arranged in advance for birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. You should complete the arrangement before your arrival so it can be prepared for your stay.
