Overview

At Wellness Forest Ito, you can settle into an exceptionally spacious room and enjoy the freedom of a home-style stay alongside the pleasures of an Ito Onsen retreat. Every room measures more than 120 square metres and combines a large living room with Western bedrooms, a Japanese tatami room, and a kitchen. This generous layout gives you space to gather, relax, and spend time together without feeling crowded.

Natural hot spring baths, open-air bathing, buffet dining, a swimsuit-friendly wellness pool, and seasonal outdoor swimming give you plenty to enjoy without leaving the property. Complimentary welcome drinks, post-bath ice cream, and late-night ramen add small treats throughout your stay. A scheduled shuttle from JR Ito Station also makes arrival straightforward when you travel by train.

Accommodation

Every room has a 2LDK or 3LDK layout with a living room measuring more than 30 tatami mats, a Japanese room, one or more Western bedrooms, and a kitchen. Rather than returning to a compact hotel room after dinner, you can stretch out on the sofa, sit together at the dining table, relax on the tatami, or enjoy a quieter evening in a separate bedroom.

Standard Rooms provide the property’s signature home-style experience, with a large living area, tatami room, kitchen, and Western bedroom. Depending on the room, you can have between two and four single beds. These rooms work especially well when you are travelling with family or friends and would like shared space without giving up separate sleeping areas.

The Asian Big Suite sits on the top floor and creates a more distinctive resort atmosphere with furniture imported from Bali. A custom canopy bed stands in the living room, while a separate bedroom provides another double bed. Selected 3LDK layouts also include an additional bedroom with two single beds.

The Mama’s and Daddy’s Rooms suit multigenerational stays and trips with younger children. Floors, walls, and furniture have been selected with family safety in mind, while the layout includes two bedrooms, a tatami room, a large dining table, a sofa area, and a massage chair. Extra-wide custom beds give you plenty of room to rest together with a small child.

Limited pet rooms allow you to stay with one small dog or cat. You need to bring vaccination records and use a cage when moving between the entrance and your room. Your pet must remain inside the room during the stay, and you need to bring its food with you.

Your room includes a kitchen, private bathroom and toilet, air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, an empty refrigerator, microwave, kettle, television, and washing machine. Most upgraded room categories also include a larger television, DVD player, and massage chair. Towels, bath products, a hairdryer, toothbrushes, slippers, bathrobes, and samue clothing are provided. You can also borrow tableware, board games, and selected kitchen items.

Dining

Dinner is served buffet-style at Restaurant Shiki, where you can choose from more than 50 Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. Seafood and seasonal Izu ingredients take centre stage, while the live kitchen prepares hot dishes such as freshly fried tempura and steak in front of you.

Seasonal sashimi, seafood rice bowls, and magochazuke bring local coastal flavours to your meal. Magochazuke is a fisherman-style dish that lets you enjoy seafood and rice with a warming broth. Desserts complete the buffet, while separately ordered dishes may include Ise lobster sashimi, abalone, or kinmedai when available. These special dishes require advance arrangements and depend on the season.

Dinner normally follows two seating periods beginning at 17:30 and 19:45. Your dining time is arranged during check-in, and the schedule can change according to occupancy and the season. Meals are served in the main restaurant rather than inside your room or in a private dining room.

At breakfast, you can begin with freshly grilled dried fish prepared at the live counter. The buffet also includes Japanese dishes, Western favourites, egg dishes, bread, and French toast. Breakfast is normally served from 07:30 to 09:30, with final entry or orders at 09:00.

Buffet signs identify eight major allergens: wheat, eggs, milk, buckwheat, peanuts, shrimp, crab, and walnuts. Because dishes are prepared in shared kitchens and displayed together, you should review the allergy information carefully when you have dietary concerns.

Later in the evening, you can enjoy complimentary Yonaki Soba at the restaurant. This light ramen is served from 23:00 to midnight and continues until the daily supply runs out.

Onsen and Wellness

The two large bathing areas, Tenku no Yu and Shiki no Yu, use natural Ito Onsen water and rotate between men and women. The change takes place by the morning, allowing you to experience both bathing areas when you soak in the evening and return after waking.

Tenku no Yu features small and large hinoki baths as well as a rock-lined open-air bath. You can look towards the sky while soaking among trees, with the scent of hinoki adding to the experience. Shiki no Yu has a brighter tropical character, with greenery and marble-lined bathing areas. Both sides include indoor baths, open-air baths, and dry saunas.

The water is an alkaline simple spring with a pH of approximately 9.2 to 9.4. Bathing indications include stiff shoulders, joint and muscle discomfort, neuralgia, sensitivity to cold, lower-back discomfort, and recovery from fatigue. The smooth alkaline water makes an inviting finish to a day of sightseeing around Ito.

The public baths open from 15:00 to 01:00 and again from 05:00 to 10:00. The dry saunas close between midnight and 05:00. Towels are not stored in the bathing areas, so you need to bring the bath towel and hand towel supplied in your room.

For gentle exercise, you can visit the Quahouse in the Wellness Building. This swimsuit-only area includes a heated walking pool, reclining bath, and jacuzzi. You can use it together regardless of gender from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 22:00. The pool is designed for walking and wellness exercises rather than swimming, and floats, beach balls, and snorkelling equipment cannot be used. Swimsuits are available to rent, although sizes and quantities are limited.

Private reservable baths are not available. When you prefer to bathe away from the shared onsen, you can use the private bathroom inside your room.

Tattoo Policy

If you have a tattoo, you cannot use the shared public baths. This applies regardless of the tattoo’s size. You can use the private bathroom inside your room, but the property does not have a reservable private onsen.

Facilities

During the summer, you can cool off in the 7-by-20-metre rooftop Garden Pool. It normally opens from mid-July until the end of August and operates from 09:00 to 17:00. You can also use it before check-in on your arrival day, subject to the seasonal schedule.

Complimentary welcome drinks are available after arrival. Soft drinks are normally served from 13:00 to 20:00, while alcoholic drinks are available from 15:00 to 17:00. After bathing, you can collect a small ice cream in the lobby between 15:00 and 22:00.

You can choose adult or children’s samue beside reception and wear it as you move around the property. Complimentary loan items include board games, tableware, and kitchen equipment, making it easy to spend a relaxed evening together in your room.

Other facilities include Restaurant Shiki, the Quahouse, the seasonal Garden Pool, a shop selling local sweets and souvenirs, reservation-based table tennis, a small game corner, vending machines, and designated smoking spaces. Every room is non-smoking, and complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

Wheelchairs can be borrowed, and you can enter with a guide dog. The property provides wheelchair access in selected shared areas, although the apartment-style layouts and movement between buildings may not suit every mobility requirement. You should confirm specific room and access needs before travelling.

Activities

You can spend much of your stay enjoying the property at your own pace. Begin with a welcome drink, explore the Quahouse, challenge each other to table tennis, cool off in the summer pool, and return to your room for board games or a relaxed evening around the dining table. After dinner, you can soak in the open-air baths, collect an ice cream, and finish with late-night ramen.

Around Ito, you can visit the historic Tokaikan building, walk beside Ito Orange Beach, shop and dine at Ito Marine Town, or travel farther along the coast to Jogasaki. Jogasaki Coast was formed by lava from an eruption of Mount Omuro around 4,000 years ago and features walking routes, rugged cliffs, a lighthouse, and the 48-metre Kadowaki Suspension Bridge.

You can also explore Mount Omuro, Lake Ippeki, and the wider Izu Kogen area. Returning to your large room and natural hot spring baths gives you an easy way to slow down after a full sightseeing day.

Additional Features

Check-in begins at 15:00, with final arrival by midnight, and check-out is by 11:00. All 98 rooms are non-smoking. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available across the property.

The complimentary scheduled shuttle takes approximately 12 minutes between JR Ito Station and the property. Services from the station leave at 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30, and 17:30. Return buses leave the property every 30 minutes from 09:00 until 11:30. You need to arrange the shuttle in advance, and a member of the team meets you near the station ticket gate.

When you travel by car, paid parking is available for approximately 50 vehicles, with one vehicle permitted per room. You may be directed to a contracted parking area when the spaces beside the property are full, with transport provided between the external car park and the building.
