Accommodation
Every room at Ryokan Beniayu faces Lake Biwa, giving you uninterrupted views of the water and surrounding nature. Each room includes a semi-open-air hot spring bath, massage chair, and amenities to help you unwind.
Japanese Room with Semi-Open-Air Hot Spring Bath
Sleep on futons laid out on tatami mats in a traditional space made for quiet evenings and deep rest. You can choose to have your meals served in your room or in the restaurant.
Western Room with Semi-Open-Air Hot Spring Bath
This single Western-style room includes a bed and a lake-facing open-air bath. It’s perfect if you prefer Western comfort while still enjoying the Japanese ryokan experience. Meals are served in the restaurant.
Japanese-Western Room (1st Floor)
Opened in July 2024, this room blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with the function of a modern Western-style stay. Located on the first floor, it offers easy lake access and relaxing interiors. Meals are served in the restaurant. (Note: not wheelchair accessible due to steps.)
Japanese-Western Room (2nd Floor)
With tatami seating and Western beds, this room offers a perfect balance of styles. You can enjoy meals either in your room or at the restaurant.
Special Suite with Semi-Open-Air Hot Spring Bath
This 55-square-meter suite is the most spacious option at Beniayu. It includes up to five beds, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a panoramic view of Lake Biwa. Whether you’re a couple or a group, this room offers space, privacy, and comfort.

Omi Beef Shabu-Shabu
Enjoy a hot pot meal with Omi beef and a soymilk-based broth. The broth is infused with beef flavor, creating a deep, savory taste.
Japanese Vegan Course
If you prefer a plant-based option, this kaiseki meal includes myoga sushi, tempura, grilled vegetables, and sashimi-style dishes—all made without animal products.
Local Sake Pairings
Try sake from Shiga Prefecture, known for both its rice and sake craftsmanship. One of the most recommended choices is “Shichihon Yari,” a sake with bold flavors that complement the meal perfectly.

Onsen and Wellness
Every room includes its own semi-open-air hot spring bath with views of Lake Biwa. The hot spring water contains sodium bicarbonate, which is known for its gentle effect on the skin. Soak in your private tub while watching the horizon shift with the light, from sunrise to moonlight.
Guests with Tattoos
Since each room includes a private bath, you can fully enjoy the onsen experience regardless of tattoos. There are no restrictions on private use.
