Overview
Hotel Route-Inn Grand Chichibu gives you a comfortable base close to the center of Chichibu, surrounded by the mountains of western Saitama. You stay about six minutes on foot from Chichibu Railway’s Chichibu Station, with Chichibu Shrine, local restaurants, shops, and sightseeing spots within easy reach. If you arrive by car, the hotel is about 45 minutes from Hanazono Interchange and offers a large free parking area.
This hotel combines the practical features of a Route-Inn stay with natural hot spring bathing, indoor and open-air baths, saunas, an evening restaurant, and spacious room choices for solo trips, couples, families, and small groups. You can spend the day exploring Chichibu, return for dinner, soak until late at night, and start the next morning with a buffet breakfast.
The location also makes everyday travel simple. Roadside Station Chichibu is about three minutes away on foot, while Chichibu Shrine and Chichibu Festival Museum are about ten minutes away. You remain close to the town center without giving up the mountain atmosphere that makes Chichibu feel different from central Tokyo.
Accommodation
You can choose from single, semi-double, double, twin, triple, four-bed, and barrier-free rooms. Every room follows the hotel’s Grand design standard, with warm tones, practical furniture, free Wi-Fi, an Android television, and a humidifying air purifier.
Single rooms measure between 14.8 and 16.6 square metres and include a 140-centimetre-wide bed. The economy single gives you 17 square metres with a narrower 110-centimetre bed. Semi-double rooms measure between 17.1 and 18.5 square metres with a 140-centimetre bed, while double rooms offer between 17.7 and 18.5 square metres with a 160-centimetre bed.
Twin rooms range from 19.51 to 24.1 square metres and include two 110-centimetre beds. For more space, the moderate twin offers between 26 and 26.7 square metres, while the superior twin gives you 29.3 square metres. The deluxe twin is the largest two-person option, with between 37.7 and 40 square metres, a 50-inch Android television, and a bathroom separated from the toilet.
The 48-square-metre triple room includes three beds, while the 77-square-metre four-bed room gives you the most spacious layout. Both include a separate bath and toilet and a 50-inch television. The 24-square-metre barrier-free twin removes steps around the entrance and bathroom, adds handrails, and provides enough bathroom space for easier wheelchair movement.
Your room includes a refrigerator, electric kettle, television, telephone, unit bath or separate bathroom depending on room type, washlet toilet, hair dryer, green and black tea, towels, jinbei-style room wear, slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, razor, hairbrush, cotton swabs, and body sponge. You can also watch WOWOW without an added charge, while the VOD room theatre is available for a fee.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Restaurant Hanagura from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM. You can begin the day with a buffet of warm dishes and freshly baked bread. The bread selection includes butter croissants and two or three European-style breads that change daily, allowing you to enjoy a lighter breakfast or combine bread with Japanese dishes for a more filling start.
Breakfast is included when attached to your accommodation plan. When it is not included, you can add it for a fee. The dining room also lets you check the current crowd level from your room television, helping you choose a quieter time to eat.
In the evening, Hanagura becomes a casual Japanese restaurant and drinking spot. It opens daily from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM, with last orders at 9:00 PM. You can choose rice bowls, sashimi, smaller dishes, and filling set meals without leaving the hotel after a long day.
Local flavours feature strongly on the menu. Options include pork miso grill, waraji katsudon, shakkushina fried rice, and shabu-shabu meals finished with Chichibu soba. You can also try Chichibu drinks such as Ichiro’s Malt whisky, Chichibu Nishiki sake, and Buko Masamune sake. A 90-minute all-you-can-drink option is available when you want beer, wine, sake, shochu, highballs, or sours with dinner.
Onsen and Wellness
The natural hot spring bath, Tabibito no Yu, uses water from Otaki Onsen Mitsumine Kami no Yu. The water is clear, colourless, and odourless, with a sodium-chloride composition classified as low-tonicity, weakly alkaline, and low-temperature. Its gentle alkaline quality gives the water a smooth feel against your skin.
The gender-separated bathing areas include spacious indoor baths, open-air bathing, saunas, and cold-water baths. You can soak after sightseeing, warm up after a cold winter day, or begin the morning with quiet bath time before breakfast. Both the men’s and women’s saunas have space for up to eight people.
The baths and saunas open from 3:00 PM to 2:00 AM and again from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM. These long hours work well when you arrive late or plan an early departure. Your room television shows the current bath congestion level, so you can check how busy the area is before you go.
Traditional bathing indications include relief from tiredness, muscle and joint discomfort, sensitivity to cold, dry skin, minor cuts, digestive concerns, and sleep difficulties. You should enjoy these as traditional hot spring indications rather than medical treatment.
The bath areas provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toner, moisturiser, cotton swabs, tissues, scales, and hair dryers. The women’s area also includes cleansing oil, brushes, cotton pads, ReFa shower heads, and ReFa hair dryers. The men’s area includes shaving foam, combs, and razors.
Guests with Tattoos
If you have tattoos, you can use the shared hot spring baths only when every tattoo is completely covered with a cover seal. Cover seals measuring 11.4 by 20 centimetres are available for purchase at the front desk. The hotel does not have a reservable private bath, so the cover must fully conceal your tattoo before you enter the bathing area.
