Overview

Tatsumikan welcomes you with onsen, people, and charcoal fire—three “warmthes” that invite you into a cozy countryside escape. The property just completed its second phase of renovation in May 2024, unveiling new rooms with outdoor baths and private saunas. Located in Minakami’s Moonlit Field (Tsukiyonono), it blends history, nature, and heartfelt hospitality.

Dining

Tatsumikan’s culinary style is rustic, charcoal-fire grilling that traces its roots to bushido legends. Enjoy the signature irori kensan-yaki, local Akagi beef, and gently steamed dishes using onsen water. You can also request private dining rooms, and breakfast showcases seasonal local flavors—often illustrated with views of Mount Tanigawa.

Onsen and Wellness

Tatsumikan features both public and private bathing options:

  • Haniwa Bath – a large mural bath blending folk art and art history.
  • Rotating public baths:
    • Tamayura no Yu (garden open-air bath)
    • Kawasemi no Yu (all-hinoki bath with glass moon spout)
  • Private baths available by reservation
    • Hina no Yu – all-hinoki
    • Fūgetsu no Yu – hot spring jacuzzi

These waters flow directly from Minakami’s source, rich in ceramide-boosting minerals and gentle on skin. They address ailments like nerve pain, rheumatism, shoulder stiffness, hemorrhoids, wounds, plus digestive and metabolic benefits.

Private baths and open-air rooms ensure a relaxed experience for guests with tattoos—no restrictions apply in those spaces.
