Overview

Fugaku Hanabusa gives you a classic Izu Nagaoka Onsen stay with Mount Fuji at the center of the experience. You stay beside the Kano River, with views of Mount Fuji from every room and a setting that feels deeply connected to the landscape of central Izu. This is a ryokan for slow mornings, warm baths, seasonal dining, and quiet time with one of Japan’s most beautiful views.

Your stay moves at an easy pace. Wake up to the sight of Mount Fuji, enjoy Japanese breakfast in a private dining room, soak in soft alkaline hot spring water, and return in the evening for kaiseki cuisine built around the flavors of Izu and Shizuoka.

Accommodation

You can choose from seven room types, including spacious rooms with open-air or semi-open-air baths and Japanese-style rooms with twin beds. Every room looks toward Mount Fuji and the Kano River, so the view becomes part of your stay from morning to night.

For a special stay, choose a room with a source-flowing open-air or semi-open-air bath. The Executive Semi-Open-Air Bath Room was renewed in February 2025 and gives you a private corner layout, four Simmons beds, and a source-flowing semi-open-air bath. The Moderate Semi-Open-Air Bath Room was renewed in March 2023 and places you on the top floor with a twin low-bed Japanese room, a source-flowing semi-open-air bath, and a separate shower room.

The Luxury Twin Open-Air Bath Rooms give you a private terrace and a bath with Mount Fuji views. One room offers 41㎡ plus a terrace, while another offers 33㎡ plus a terrace and includes added touches such as a BOSE Bluetooth speaker and BALMUDA lantern. The Deluxe Open-Air Bath Room is a 77㎡ Japanese-Western room with a 14-tatami mat area and low beds, making it a good choice when you want more space. The Superior Open-Air Bath Room is a 46㎡ room with low beds and a calm Japanese feel.

The Twin Bed Modern Japanese Room gives you 42–46㎡ of space with a simple Japanese atmosphere and twin beds. This room does not have a hot spring bath in the room, so you can enjoy the large public bath and the three free private open-air baths instead.

In-room features include free Wi-Fi, a 4K-compatible TV, green tea, mineral water, a refrigerator, hair dryer, safe, towels, yukata rental, skincare items, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and other bath amenities. All rooms are non-smoking, with a smoking room available inside the building.

Dining

Dining here focuses on “eating Izu,” with seasonal kaiseki cuisine served in private dining rooms. You can enjoy carefully prepared dishes using Shizuoka and Izu ingredients, including seafood, local vegetables, Amagi wasabi, Fujisan salmon, and Shizuoka Wagyu “Itadaki.”

The standard Izu Kaiseki includes signature dishes such as A5 Shizuoka Wagyu seared sushi and the ryokan’s original “Izu Mabushi,” a rice dish with Amagi wasabi. The popular A5 Wagyu Kaiseki brings you Shizuoka Wagyu “Itadaki” as steak and seared sushi, served with five house-made sauces, including Amagi wasabi and beef-fat red wine sauce.

For an even richer dinner, the Special Kaiseki adds spiny lobster and abalone alongside A5 Wagyu, fresh seafood from Suruga Bay, and Izu Mabushi. You can also add extra dishes such as steamed abalone, spiny lobster sashimi, or a handmade dessert plate for celebrations.

Breakfast gives you many small Japanese dishes, so you can enjoy a little of everything. Seasonal small bowls may include grated yam, spicy chicken soboro with Arima sansho, handmade rolled omelet, pickles, and carefully prepared root vegetables with bonito broth. Dinner and breakfast can be enjoyed in private dining rooms, giving you a quiet meal in your own space.

Drinks are also a highlight. You can pair your meal with wine selected by in-house sommeliers, Japanese sake tasting sets, craft beer from Baird Brewery Garden in Shuzenji, or Shizuoka cider and other soft drinks.

Onsen and Wellness

You can enjoy Izu Nagaoka Onsen in three free private open-air baths, the large public baths, and selected rooms with private open-air or semi-open-air baths. The water is an alkaline simple spring with a soft feel on the skin.

The three private open-air baths are called Saiten, Saiun, and Saitsuki. You do not need to reserve them, and you can use them for free whenever they are open and available. Bathing hours are 15:00 to 24:00 and 5:30 to 9:30.

The large public baths are separated by gender and also use alkaline simple spring water. The bath areas open from 15:00 to 24:00 and 5:30 to 9:30, so you can enjoy a soak after arrival, before bed, and again in the morning.

If you want the most private onsen experience, choose one of the rooms with a source-flowing open-air or semi-open-air bath. These rooms let you soak in your own space while looking out toward Mount Fuji, depending on the room type and weather.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, the safest choice is a room with its own open-air or semi-open-air hot spring bath, or the free private open-air baths when available.
