Overview

Guesthouse Leu. brings a different kind of hot spring stay to Itamuro, a quiet area of Nasu-Shiobara known for nature, slow travel, and simple onsen culture. Rather than working like a standard hotel, this property supports a flexible way of spending time: short stays, longer visits, remote work, outdoor activities, and everyday living all fit naturally here.

The building carries the memory of its former ryokan days, including an indoor hot spring bath that remains part of the experience today. At the same time, Leu. has been reshaped into a practical guesthouse with private rooms, dormitory spaces, a shared kitchen, work-friendly areas, and social spaces designed for people who want more than a place to sleep.

This is a strong fit for independent travelers, remote workers, outdoor lovers, and longer-stay visitors who want access to the Nasu area without losing the warmth of a small, community-minded property. The atmosphere feels relaxed, practical, and open-ended, giving each stay its own rhythm.

Accommodation

Accommodation ranges from single dormitory spaces to private rooms designed for longer stays. The dormitory offers a simple semi-private setup with a single bed and desk. Each space includes a desk light, power outlet, Wi-Fi, safe, and hangers, while curtains create personal separation. The bed is single-level rather than bunk-style, which helps reduce movement and noise. There is also enough room to open or place luggage, making the dormitory easier to use than a typical compact hostel bed.

The private rooms are better suited to travelers who want more independence. The standard room includes a bathroom, toilet, bath, kitchen, cooking tools, tableware, and a large closet, making it practical for longer stays or a two-base lifestyle. Room features include a desk, desk light, power outlet, Wi-Fi, safe, hangers, shampoo, conditioner, TV, satellite broadcast, IH stove, dishes, and beds.

The concept room, Ikoi no Heya, is a special room designed around the idea of rest. Created by architecture design students from Utsunomiya, it uses its corner-room position to bring in light and a closer sense of nature. The room sleeps on futons and includes a desk, desk light, power outlet, Wi-Fi, safe, hangers, shampoo, conditioner, IH stove, and dishes.

Dining

Meals are not included, which gives the stay a more independent feeling. The shared kitchen on the JAM floor is available for self-catering and includes cooking tools, dishes, and seasonings. This makes it easy to prepare breakfast before heading out, cook a simple dinner after a day in Nasu, or keep a daily routine during a longer stay.

The property also has vending machines with drinks, bread, and snacks, adding convenience when a light bite is enough. For travelers who prefer eating out, the surrounding Nasu-Shiobara area offers local restaurants and cafés, while the kitchen makes it possible to balance dining out with quieter meals inside the property

Onsen and Wellness

Leu. includes a shared hot spring bath for staying visitors, continuing the building’s history as a former ryokan. The bath is separated by gender and uses weak alkaline simple hot spring water. The listed benefits include support for bruises, skin care, and fatigue recovery.

The bath area includes washing space, showers, shampoo, and body soap, making it easy to end the day with a warm soak after hiking, working, driving, or exploring the Nasu area. The water is part of the simple appeal of the property: quiet, unfussy, and available as a daily rhythm rather than a formal spa experience.

Guests with Tattoos

No tattoos are allowed in the shared space.

Facilities

Leu. is arranged across several floors, each supporting a different part of the stay. The second floor includes long-stay private rooms and a coin laundry, making it practical for extended visits. The first floor holds the front desk, the JAM floor, a shop, vending machines, a delivery box, shoe storage, and outdoor areas for bonfires and barbecue. The basement level includes the dormitory, hot spring bath, and a Zoom room for online meetings.

The JAM floor works as the main shared space. It brings together cooking, eating, working, and casual conversation in one area, with a kitchen that includes cooking tools, tableware, and seasonings. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building without registration, and the Zoom Box gives a more private setting for calls and online meetings.

Longer stays are supported by coin-operated washing machines and gas dryers, as well as a delivery space where packages can be received during the stay. The building is smoke-free, room and dormitory doors use auto-lock systems, and access after check-in is handled by key card.

Activities

Leu. works well as a base for exploring Nasu, Itamuro, and the wider Nasu-Shiobara area. Days can be shaped around nature walks, outdoor activities, local cafés, hot spring time, remote work, or quiet reading. The property also connects to events, learning, work, and community activities, giving the stay a more open and local feeling.

The best way to enjoy Leu. is to use it as both accommodation and a living base. A morning can start with coffee and work on the JAM floor, continue with a walk or drive through Nasu, and end with self-cooked dinner and a soak in the hot spring.

Additional Features

You check in between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM, with late arrival available for an extra fee if you arrange it in advance. After check-in, you come and go freely using your key card. The main entrance locks at 10:00 PM, and dormitory lights switch off at night to support rest.

You must be at least 18 years old to stay here. The entire building remains smoke-free, with a designated smoking area outside. Bath tax applies separately per night.
