Overview
At Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen Garden, you stay between the flowing Kiso River, the historic Urakuen Garden, and National Treasure Inuyama Castle. This striking setting places two of Inuyama’s greatest cultural treasures within easy reach: Inuyama Castle and the National Treasure Jo-an Teahouse.
Local stories shape the experience from the moment you enter. Colours, artwork, patterns, and furnishings take inspiration from the Inuyama Festival, its mechanical karakuri puppets, the Kiso River, and the town’s long tea culture. You can explore the castle town during the day, return for a natural hot spring bath, and end the evening with seasonal dining or a cocktail inspired by Inuyama.
The nearest station is Meitetsu Inuyama-Yuen Station, around seven minutes away on foot. Direct Meitetsu services connect the area with Nagoya, making this a convenient choice for a cultural break outside the city.

Dining
At Indigo Home Kitchen Yamateras, you can experience Inuyama through seasonal ingredients, familiar local flavours, and dishes shaped by the history of the neighbourhood. The restaurant takes inspiration from a traditional home in Inuyama Castle Town. A water feature reflects sunlight onto the ceiling throughout the day, creating a changing atmosphere from breakfast through dinner.
Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 11:00. You begin by choosing a main dish, followed by a semi-buffet of locally sourced food. Western choices include eggs Benedict, omelettes, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, poached eggs, and boiled eggs. You can select fillings such as ham, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, and onion for your omelette.
The Japanese breakfast includes grilled fish and locally sourced Inuyama yam, while a warm Chinese savoury porridge provides another comforting start to the day. The semi-buffet may include neighbourhood vegetables, tama konjac and sashimi konjac from Komatsuya Shoten in Inuyama Castle Town, house-smoked salmon, fruit, cereals, croissants, and baked treats from French bakery and café Gontran Cherrier.
Lunch is served from 11:30 to 15:00 on weekdays and until 15:30 on weekends. Dinner is available from 17:30 to 22:00. Evening menus draw on local produce, seasonal flavours, and stories from Inuyama, allowing you to discover the area through carefully presented food without leaving the property.
For drinks after dinner, the BAR Yoyama opens from 17:00 into the late evening. Its design takes inspiration from the thirteen yama floats of the Inuyama Festival and the calendars found inside Jo-an Teahouse. Signature cocktails bring local history and legends into the glass through their ingredients, colours, and presentation.
Seasonal sweets buffets, afternoon teas, and limited dining events also take place during selected periods. You can also order in-room dining at any time of day or night.
Onsen and Wellness
Hakutei no Yu is Inuyama’s only natural hot spring. Its clear, odourless alkaline water has a pH of approximately 8.5 and feels gentle against the skin. You can soak in both indoor and open-air baths, with art tiles that take their patterns from the movement of the Kiso River.
The indoor bath creates a calm setting with views towards bamboo and greenery, while the open-air bath lets you feel the changing temperature and air of Inuyama. The alkaline water is known for its skin-cleansing qualities, making the bath an inviting part of your morning or evening routine.
A sauna gives you another way to unwind after walking through the castle town. Soft ambient music adds to the relaxed bathing atmosphere. Hakutei no Yu opens from 06:00 to 11:00 and again from 15:00 to 23:00.
The fitness centre remains open 24 hours. You can use treadmills, exercise bikes, free weights, elliptical machines, and yoga mats. Several machines use self-powered or water-resistance systems, reducing electricity use while giving you a natural and controlled workout.

Activities
Urakuen Garden sits beside the property, giving you easy access to bamboo, stone paths, traditional planting, and National Treasure Jo-an Teahouse. Built by Oda Uraku, a younger brother of Oda Nobunaga and an important tea master, Jo-an is considered one of Japan’s finest historic teahouses.
A short walk takes you towards Inuyama Castle, one of only five Japanese castles with a main keep designated as a National Treasure. The keep is also one of Japan’s twelve surviving original castle towers. After climbing its steep wooden stairs, you can step onto the upper balcony for wide views over the Kiso River, the castle town, and the surrounding hills.
Below the castle, you can wander through Inuyama Castle Town, where historic wooden buildings now house cafés, craft shops, sweet shops, and food stalls. The town is known for snacks served on sticks, including rice cakes and local miso flavours, making it easy to taste something new as you explore.
During spring, the Inuyama Festival fills the streets with thirteen tall floats carrying karakuri puppets. In the evening, hundreds of lanterns light the floats and surrounding streets. During the warmer months, you may also watch traditional cormorant fishing on the Kiso River, when fishing boats and burning torches move across the water after dark.
