Overview

Stay close to the centre of Tottori while enjoying a natural hot spring drawn from beneath the property. Hotel Monarque Tottori is around a five-minute walk from JR Tottori Station, giving you easy access to the city, the Tottori Sand Dunes, and the wider San’in region.

Oshidori-no-Yu brings the experience of Tottori Onsen into a convenient city setting. After sightseeing, business meetings, or a long journey, you can change into the indoor wear provided and head to the spacious bathing area for a soothing soak.

With 108 rooms, a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet, a restaurant, banquet spaces, saunas, and accommodation for solo stays or larger family trips, Hotel Monarque Tottori gives you a practical base with the added pleasure of natural hot spring bathing.

Accommodation

Hotel Monarque Tottori has 108 non-smoking rooms, ranging from compact singles and doubles to twin rooms, Japanese-Western layouts, and a large two-bedroom Grand Room. Free Wi-Fi and YouTube-compatible televisions are available throughout the accommodation.

The Grand Room is the most spacious choice at 82 square metres. Its main living and dining area includes two king beds, while a separate bedroom has two semi-double beds. The generous layout makes it well suited to a family holiday, a group stay, or time away across several generations.

The Japanese-Western Deluxe Room combines an 18-tatami living area with two semi-double beds. A low sofa and indirect lighting create a warm place to sit together, while televisions in both the living and sleeping areas make it easy to relax at your own pace.

The standard Japanese-Western Room has low beds and a tatami living area. A sink, microwave, and kettle add convenience during a longer visit or a family stay.

Choose the Premium Room for a 23-square-metre layout with a wide bed, sofa space, work desk, and adjustable wall-mounted television. The room’s wood-focused interior and soft lighting provide a comfortable setting for both work and rest.

Twin choices include the 30-square-metre Deluxe Twin, the 25-square-metre Superior Twin, and the 30-square-metre Large Twin. The Stylish Twin L adds a raised tatami area, a coffee maker, and a large television. In the Hollywood Twin, two semi-double beds sit directly beside one another, making the layout convenient when you are travelling with a young child.

Compact double, semi-double, and single rooms provide functional spaces for shorter visits and solo travel. Room equipment includes air conditioning, a refrigerator, shower toilet, hairdryer, towels, toiletries, and feather bedding.

Three pillow styles are available from reception. You can choose between feather, binchotan charcoal, and memory foam to find the support that feels right for you.

Dining

Begin the morning with a Japanese and Western buffet at Main Dining Patrie. The selection introduces you to Tottori through grilled fish, local vegetables, White Rose milk, and other regional ingredients.

Rice served in the restaurant includes Hoshizora Mai, a Tottori-grown grain known for its glossy appearance, gentle sweetness, and pleasantly firm texture. Seasonal fruit and dishes may change according to the time of year and available produce.

Patrie also serves Japanese, Western, and combined Japanese-Western meals for lunch and dinner. Menus highlight fresh seafood and ingredients from Tottori, with seasonal courses changing throughout the year.

Private and semi-private dining spaces provide a more personal setting for celebrations, family meals, and important occasions. Larger Japanese and Western dining arrangements can also be prepared in the banquet halls.

Onsen and Wellness

Oshidori-no-Yu uses natural Tottori Onsen water drawn from a private source within the grounds. The source reaches 56°C and is classified as a sodium sulfate and chloride spring.

The clear water has a light, smooth feel against the skin. Its mineral profile is traditionally associated with easing muscle and joint discomfort, sensitivity to cold, stiffness, and travel fatigue.

There is one large indoor bath for men and one for women. There are no open-air baths. Each bathing area includes a sauna, allowing you to warm your body gradually after soaking.

For hygiene and temperature control, part of the water is filtered and circulated, and water is added when required. The main baths open from early morning until mid-morning, then reopen from the early afternoon until midnight.

The saunas operate during the evening and currently use a gentler temperature setting designed for slow, comfortable warming rather than intense heat. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and scales are provided, while three additional shampoo sets can be borrowed.

Day-use bathing is available during the afternoon, subject to operating conditions and maintenance schedules.

Guests with Tattoos

You cannot use Oshidori-no-Yu or the saunas if you have tattoos. Hotel Monarque Tottori does not have a reservable private hot spring bath.

Facilities

The first-floor amenity bar allows you to select only the personal-care items you need. Cleansing oil, face wash, skin lotion, moisturiser, cotton pads, cotton swabs, hair ties, shower caps, and razors are available near reception. Yukata and indoor wear can also be collected from the self-service area.

A nearby drink station provides coffee, tea, lattes, green tea, and plum-kelp tea. You can take a drink back to your room or enjoy it while resting in the lobby.

Shop Ansur carries Tottori souvenirs, regional confectionery, pear products, local foods, and seasonal items. A tea lounge provides another place to sit between sightseeing trips or while waiting to meet the people travelling with you.

Banquet halls and conference rooms support private celebrations, business meetings, group meals, and larger events. The property also includes a coin-operated laundry, vending machines, designated smoking rooms, and cleaning services.

Wheelchair spaces are available near the main entrance, and wheelchairs can be borrowed for use inside the building. Accessible facilities are provided in selected shared areas, although the accommodation does not include a fully barrier-free room. Luggage can be stored before arrival time or after departure.

Activities

Travel from central Tottori to the Tottori Sand Dunes, where wind from the Sea of Japan creates ripples and steep sandy slopes. Walk towards the Umanose ridge for a broad view of the dunes and coastline, or try seasonal experiences such as camel rides and sandboarding.

The Sand Museum stands close to the dunes and presents large sculptures made entirely from sand. Exhibition themes change, allowing the temporary artworks to introduce a different region or culture during each display period.

For history and architecture, explore the Tottori Castle Ruins and nearby Jinpukaku. The white Western-style building and surrounding garden provide a striking contrast with the old castle grounds.

You can also travel east to the Uradome Coast, where sea caves, cliffs, white beaches, and unusual rock formations line the water. Sightseeing boats and coastal walks provide two different ways to experience the landscape.

Additional Features

Free Wi-Fi, YouTube-compatible televisions, self-service drinks, three pillow choices, natural hot spring bathing, separate men’s and women’s saunas, luggage storage, laundry facilities, a souvenir shop, banquet halls, and easy access to JR services support a convenient stay in Tottori.

Every room is non-smoking. Separate smoking areas are available in designated parts of the building.
