Overview
Wanwan Paradise Premier Shiobara is a dog-friendly hot spring hotel in Shiobara Onsen, Tochigi. You stay at 1256 Shiobara, Nasushiobara, surrounded by mountain scenery, fresh air, and the long hot spring history of the Shiobara area.
This hotel is designed so you can spend the stay with your dog, not just bring your dog along. All rooms allow dogs, and you can eat together at the restaurant, play in dog spaces, relax in your room, and enjoy the mountain setting without separating your travel experience into “your time” and “dog time.”
The hotel works well when you want hot springs, seasonal food, dog-friendly rooms, indoor and outdoor dog play areas, and easy access to the Shiobara and Nasu area. You come here to slow down, breathe mountain air, and enjoy a stay where your dog remains close from check-in to checkout.
Accommodation
You choose from six dog-friendly room types. Options include Japanese-style rooms, Western-style twin rooms, Japanese twin rooms, a barrier-free room, and a special Japanese-Western room with an open-air hot spring bath.
The special Japanese-Western room with an open-air bath gives you the most private bathing experience. You can enjoy a natural hot spring bath in your own room, then spend time on the terrace with your dog. This room type suits you well when you want extra space, privacy, and a more relaxed pace.
Japanese rooms include 8-tatami and 10-tatami layouts. These rooms give you tatami flooring and a calm Japanese atmosphere, with enough room to sit, rest, and spend time with your dog. The 10-tatami room gives more space, making it useful when you travel with family or a larger dog.
The standard twin room has a Western-style layout with two beds and a private bath. The Japanese twin room has Ryukyu-style tatami and two semi-double beds, giving you a mix of Japanese texture and bed-based comfort.
The barrier-free room has two electric beds, a private bath, and handrails around the bathroom and wash area. This room works well when easier movement matters during your stay.
Dog items are prepared in the rooms, including food bowls, pet deodorizing spray, pet sheet tray, spare pet sheet, sticky carpet cleaner, fur remover, paper towels, waste bags, and cage. This helps you pack lighter and settle in faster.
Rooms include free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, refrigerator, TV, safe, washlet toilet, towels, slippers, toothbrushes, and room wear.
Dining
You dine with your dog in the restaurant, making mealtime part of the shared stay. Dinner is served as Western-style kaiseki, with seasonal dishes and ingredients connected to Tochigi and the Shiobara area.
The special kaiseki course includes upgraded meat and seafood dishes, such as A5-rank Nasu Highland wagyu fillet steak and lobster. Seasonal menus may include highland vegetable antipasto, lobster with sauce, clam and roe royale, wagyu steak, pork rice with yuba, and seasonal dessert.
The standard kaiseki course offers a balanced dinner with meat and fish dishes. Seasonal examples include highland vegetable antipasto, fish dishes such as trout or sea bream, soup, domestic beef steak or sirloin, local-style rice or noodles, and dessert.
Children’s meals are available, and extra dishes can be ordered depending on the day. Dog meals are also available, including WAN Burger, smoked chicken plate, meatball plate, roll chicken plate, chicken fingers, and salmon with Hokkaido potato in milk stew. Dog anniversary cakes can also be reserved in advance.
Breakfast is buffet-style, though it may change to a half-buffet depending on the season. Breakfast items may include Nasushiobara spinach, handmade tofu, Utsunomiya yakisoba, French toast, and homemade pudding made with Nasu eggs.
Onsen and Wellness
The hot spring is one of the main reasons to stay here. You can enjoy Fukuwata Onsen in the large public bath and the source-flowing open-air bath. The bathing area gives you a warm, restorative pause after travel, dog walks, or sightseeing.
The spring quality is sodium-calcium chloride spring, with a source temperature of 48.1°C. The water is associated with benefits such as neuralgia, sprains, burns, muscle pain, chronic digestive concerns, cuts, joint pain, hemorrhoids, chronic skin concerns, frozen shoulder, cold sensitivity, and chronic women’s health concerns.
Bathing hours for overnight stays are 5:00 to 9:00 and 12:00 to 24:00. Day-use bathing is also available during set hours, though times may change during busy periods.
The bathing area includes useful items such as baby bed, bathing wheelchair, hair dryers, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, make-up remover, lotion, and cotton swabs. The baby bed is prepared on the women’s side only.
Dogs cannot enter the large public bath or changing rooms. Plan your bath time while your dog rests safely in your room.
Guests with Tattoos
If you want the most private bathing option, choose the special Japanese-Western room with an open-air hot spring bath.
