Overview

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Kimitsu no Mori is a nature-side resort hotel in Kimitsu, Chiba, surrounded by the green landscape of the Bōsō Peninsula. You stay away from the busy coast and city center, with open space, forest views, buffet dining, public baths, and casual indoor activities that work well for families, couples, and group trips. The property has 41 rooms, including Japanese rooms, Western rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, barrier-free rooms, and detached cottage-style rooms with family baths.

This is not a natural hot spring ryokan. The bath uses Kōmeiseki no Yu, an artificial mineral bath made with Kōmeiseki stone, along with an open-air bath, reclining bath space, and sauna. You come here for an easy onsen-style break with buffet meals, bath time, karaoke, table tennis, manga, games, and free parking.

Accommodation

You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, barrier-free twin rooms, economy double rooms, and detached cottage-style rooms. The main building gives you the most straightforward access to dining, baths, and indoor facilities, while the detached rooms give you a more private stay in a separate one-building space.

The Japanese rooms have a 10-tatami layout and suit you when you want a classic tatami stay. The Japanese-Western rooms combine tatami space with beds, making them useful when you want both floor seating and easier sleep. Western-style options include twin and economy double rooms, while the barrier-free twin room adds easier movement for you if you prefer a more accessible layout.

The detached room is set apart from the main building and includes an 8-tatami Japanese room with a family bath. It works well when you want more privacy and a quiet “hideaway in the forest” feeling.

Dining

Dinner is a buffet with Japanese, Western, and Chinese-style creative dishes, plus local Chiba flavors. You can enjoy the meal casually, choosing what you like instead of following a formal kaiseki course. Chiba local sake is also part of the dining appeal when you want a drink with dinner.

Breakfast is also served buffet style. The dining setup suits you when you want flexibility, quick choices for children, and a relaxed pace before heading out for sightseeing or another bath

Onsen and Wellness

The public bath area uses Kōmeiseki no Yu, an artificial mineral bath rather than natural hot spring water. Kōmeiseki is a mineral stone approved as a quasi-drug, and the bath is associated with warmth and relief for concerns such as neuralgia, rheumatism, shoulder stiffness, lower back pain, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue.

You can use gender-separated large public baths, an open-air bath, reclining bath space, and sauna. The open-air bath gives you a more open bathing experience, especially in the evening when the sky feels wide and quiet above the forest setting. Bathing hours are usually available from afternoon to midnight and again in the morning.

The bath area includes towels for overnight stays, cotton swabs, hair dryers, combs, tissues, and gender-specific skincare or grooming items. The baths are not barrier-free, and there is no reservable private bath listed for the shared bath area.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you cannot use the large public bath unless the tattoo can be fully covered with the property’s designated cover seal. The same rule appears on the day-use bath information. A detached room with a family bath gives you more private bathing space, but the public bath rule still applies.

Facilities

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Kimitsu no Mori gives you enough to enjoy the stay without leaving the property. You can move from the lobby to the public baths, restaurant, shop, manga corner, game corner, table tennis area, karaoke space, and massage chairs, making the hotel easy for both quiet breaks and family time. The indoor facilities work especially well on rainy days or when you want a simple evening after dinner.

You also have practical support throughout the stay, including an elevator, vending machines, coin laundry, free parking, and front-desk support. The property has around 120 to 124 parking spaces, and there is no shuttle from Kimitsu Station, so arrival by car or taxi is the easiest choice.

Activities

You can enjoy your time inside the property with baths, sauna, manga, games, karaoke, table tennis, massage chairs, and casual meals. This makes the stay simple if you want a low-effort break where your day can revolve around bathing, eating, and resting.

Around Kimitsu, you can explore the Bōsō Peninsula’s inland nature. Popular nearby ideas include Shimizu Keiryu Park, also known for Nomizo Falls and Kameiwa Cave, Kameyama Lake, Kururi Castle, strawberry picking in season, and autumn scenery around the lake.

Additional Features

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Kimitsu no Mori gives you a 3-star, forest-side stay with 41 rooms, buffet dining, artificial mineral baths, open-air bathing, sauna, detached rooms with family baths, indoor entertainment, coin laundry, vending machines, and free parking. The stay suits you when you want an easy Chiba getaway with casual meals, bath time, and simple activities rather than a formal ryokan experience.
