Overview
When you arrive at Pension Todoroki in Kamitaga, Atami, you step onto a quiet hillside where the scenery shifts with the seasons. You look out toward Sagami Bay, breathe in the fresh hillside air, and settle into a rhythm that slows your thoughts. You enjoy food that highlights the sea and the mountains, and you soak in open-air baths that look toward the night sky. Every moment encourages you to unwind, breathe deeply, and create memories that stay with you long after your trip ends.
Accommodation
You choose from three room types, each designed to give you a private, comfortable space where you can relax at your own pace.
Seaside Twin (with bath/toilet)
This corner room includes a unit bath and toilet. You have both a bedroom and a living area, and if you stay with more than two people, the staff prepares extra beds. Large windows draw your eyes toward the sea and the lights of Ajiro below.
Seaside Twin
You settle into a wide bedroom and living room. A hammock invites you to nap while you look out over the ocean from this elevated hill. Morning sun and evening moonlight both feel especially vivid from here.
Mountain-side Twin
You face the green slopes behind the ryokan and enjoy the colors that shift throughout the year. This room sits above the bathing area, so you may hear some mechanical sounds, but you also enjoy a quiet, calming view of nature.
Each room includes towels, yukata, hanten coats, toothbrush sets, razors, and shower caps. You also have Wi-Fi, a refrigerator, a TV, a hair dryer, individual air conditioning, an electric kettle, a tea set, and a mirror.
Dining
Your meals celebrate the flavors of Izu. Every dish highlights fresh seafood and carefully selected ingredients, including domestic beef steak that adds depth and richness to your table. You enjoy dinner in the dining room, where you take your time and savor the flow of dishes.
Standard Course
This course remains the most popular. You enjoy whole braised golden-eyed snapper, a boat platter of local fish, and tender domestic beef steak. The seasoning stays gentle so the natural sweetness of the fish and meat stands out.
Golden-eyed Snapper Course
You focus on seafood with simmered golden-eyed snapper and fresh sashimi. The sauce leans refreshing rather than overly sweet, offering clean flavors that match the fish.
Funamori Course
You choose this when you want a simpler but larger boat platter. The ryokan sources fish caught that day, giving you a fresh taste of the region.
Light Course
If you plan to enjoy drinks or already tried many Atami foods during the day, this lighter course fits perfectly. Breakfast also feels a bit lighter than usual.
Breakfast
You start your morning with a Japanese breakfast that supports your body after a night of rest. You enjoy tamagoyaki, dried horse mackerel, and warm dishes that ease you into the day.
If you have allergies, you can consult the ryokan in advance. They cook everything in one kitchen, so they may ask you to reconsider your stay if you have severe or wide-ranging restrictions.
Onsen and Wellness
You enjoy one open-air bath and two indoor baths, all of which you can reserve for private use.
Open-Air Bath
You soak while looking toward the ocean in the distance. During the day, you see greenery around you; at night, the stars appear above you. You can add cypress balls to the bath for an aromatic touch.
Indoor Baths
Two baths welcome both children and adults. A small duck figure adds a lighthearted mood, and depending on the season, you can add citrus fruits or cypress balls for a refreshing soak.
The open-air bath requires a reservation at check-in for a 45-minute session. You can enter the indoor baths freely for one hour between check-in and check-out. Amenities include shampoo, treatment, body wash, soap, cotton swabs, cotton pads, cleansing items, toner, and emulsion.
Guests With Tattoos
You can use the private baths without worry if you have tattoos. Because all baths are reservable for private use, you can enjoy your time comfortably.
Facilities
You stay in a building on a hill surrounded by greenery with wide views of Sagami Bay and the town of Ajiro. Most rooms face the sea, so at night you enjoy the moonlit water and the soft lights of the town below. Both dinner and breakfast take place in the dining room, where you can enjoy alcoholic drinks that pair well with the menu.
Inside the building, you find a calm atmosphere and simple conveniences that make your stay smooth and relaxed.
Activities
During your stay, you can explore the Atami area with ease. Nearby beaches, museums, shrines, and seasonal firework festivals give you plenty of ways to fill your day. You may also choose to spend your time quietly—reading in your room, watching the ocean, or taking long baths.
