Overview

TAOYA Wakura is an oceanfront hot spring resort in Wakura Onsen, Nanao, on the Noto Peninsula. Reopened under the TAOYA brand in April 2025, this property gives you wide views of Nanao Bay, an infinity-style open-air onsen, buffet dining with Noto ingredients, and an all-inclusive style stay.

You come here for the sea. You see it from your room, from the lounge, from the restaurant, and from the baths. The atmosphere feels open and relaxed, with spaces designed for slow conversations, long soaks, and easy time between meals and the onsen. With meals, drinks during dinner, welcome drinks, lounge service, and many in-house services included, you can settle in and enjoy the coast without thinking too much about every extra detail.

Accommodation

All rooms at TAOYA Wakura face the sea, so you can wake up to Nanao Bay and watch the light change across the water throughout the day. You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-bed rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, and rooms with open-air baths. The design keeps a Japanese feel while giving you a clean, comfortable space to rest after sightseeing or bathing.

The standard Japanese-bed twin rooms offer a simple stay with beds in a Japanese-style setting. Superior rooms give you more space, with options such as Japanese-bed twins and Japanese-Western twins. For a more private stay, you can choose a room with an open-air bath, available in Japanese-style, Japanese-Western, and Western-style layouts. The baths in these rooms do not use hot spring water, but they give you a private place to bathe while enjoying the sea view.

Your room includes Wi-Fi, a television, refrigerator, kettle, tea set, safe, towels, and basic bath amenities. Yukata are available from the yukata corner, so you can choose one before heading to your room, the lounge, dinner, or the baths.

Dining

Dining at TAOYA Wakura is served in Restaurant Calme, a buffet restaurant inspired by the calm feel of the Noto sea. Dinner focuses on Noto ingredients, seafood, and live-kitchen dishes, giving you a relaxed way to enjoy local flavors without the formality of a kaiseki meal.

At dinner, you can enjoy seafood dishes such as fugu, buri, and nodoguro prepared as sushi, along with buri tataki-style dishes and seafood paella made with Noto rice. The live kitchen adds freshly prepared dishes, including steak and other warm items served as they are finished. You can also enjoy fried dishes, seasonal side dishes, desserts, and drinks that pair well with the meal. Alcohol and soft drinks during dinner are included in the all-inclusive service.

Breakfast is also buffet style. You can create your own seafood bowl, enjoy warm Japanese breakfast dishes, and try local touches such as French toast made with Noto milk. The meal feels generous but easy, so you can start the day with either something light or a fuller breakfast before heading out around Wakura, Nanao, or the wider Noto area.

Onsen and Wellness

TAOYA Wakura’s main highlight is the infinity-style open-air hot spring bath facing Nanao Bay. As you soak, the edge of the bath seems to meet the sea, giving you a strong sense of openness. The indoor large bath also looks toward the water through wide windows, so you can keep the bay in view even when bathing inside.

The baths use Wakura Onsen water, known as a “sea hot spring.” The water is clear and contains natural salt. Wakura Onsen is a sodium-calcium chloride spring with high tonicity, weak alkalinity, and a high source temperature. This salt-rich water helps your body feel warm after bathing and leaves the skin feeling smooth. At TAOYA Wakura, the bath water is adjusted with added water, heating, and circulation filtration.

You can also use the sauna and ganbanyoku stone spa, both added with the TAOYA renewal. These spaces give you another way to warm the body, rest, and enjoy the sea-facing setting. After your bath, you can move to the lounge, enjoy a drink, or take your time before dinner.

Guests with Tattoos

TAOYA Wakura has shared indoor and open-air public hot spring baths. You can use the shared baths if your tattoos are fully covered with the property’s designated cover stickers, up to two stickers. Larger tattoos that cannot be fully covered cannot be used in the shared bathing areas.

Facilities

TAOYA Wakura has a sea-view deck lounge, an indoor lounge with a fireplace, Restaurant Calme, shared indoor and open-air hot spring baths, a sauna, a ganbanyoku stone spa, a post-bath ice service, late-night snack service, massage chairs, a promenade, a table tennis corner, karaoke rooms, billiards, a shop, smoking space, and rental items. The all-inclusive service covers many of the in-house experiences, including lounge drinks, dinner drinks, post-bath treats, late-night snacks, and use of several relaxation and leisure spaces.

Activities

You can spend much of your stay inside the property, moving between the lounge, baths, ganbanyoku, sauna, massage chairs, games, dinner, and sea-view spaces. The setting works well when you want a quiet coastal break with everything close by.

Outside the property, Wakura Onsen Soyu is about a short walk away and gives you another way to experience the local hot spring culture. You can also visit nearby coastal and Noto-area sights such as Notojima Bridge, which connects Wakura Onsen with Notojima, or travel farther around Nanao and the Noto Peninsula when local conditions allow. This area is still recovering from the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, so some scenery, roads, and sightseeing spots may be affected by restoration work.

TAOYA Wakura includes free Wi-Fi, free parking, ocean-view rooms, all-inclusive style service, buffet breakfast and dinner, public hot spring baths, an infinity-style open-air bath, sauna, ganbanyoku, lounge drinks, and in-house leisure spaces.
