Overview
Umiakari gives you a coastal onsen stay overlooking Toyama Bay in Himi, Toyama Prefecture. The hotel stands in the Uba area along the Nadaura Coast, where the changing sea, fishing boats, and distant Tateyama mountain range shape the view.
The experience centres on Himi seafood, two natural hot spring sources, and rooms facing either the bay or the surrounding mountains. On a clear morning, you may watch the sun rise beyond the Tateyama peaks while soaking in the panoramic open-air bath.
You can spend the day exploring Himi’s markets and coastline, then return for a seafood dinner and another long soak. The combination of open views, local food, and source-fed baths gives you a strong connection to this part of Toyama.
Accommodation
Umiakari offers accommodation across the Mori, Hana, and Hoshi wings. Choices include Japanese rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, Western-style rooms, and two special rooms with private semi-open-air baths.
The Mori Wing opened in 2023 and contains only two rooms. Each room accommodates two to four people and includes Simmons beds, a private semi-open-air bath, a massage chair, an air purifier, a refrigerator, a television, and a ReFa hairdryer.
The Hana Wing has ten spacious Japanese-Western rooms with views toward Toyama Bay or the mountains. Selected rooms accommodate up to six people, making them suitable for families and small groups.
The Hoshi Wing includes Japanese rooms, Japanese-inspired rooms with beds, and compact twin accommodation. Depending on the category, your room may include a shower booth or rely on the hotel’s main bathing facilities.
Every room is non-smoking and includes free Wi-Fi, a television, refrigerator, electric kettle, safe, towels, indoor clothing, and toiletries. Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00.
Dining
Dinner highlights seafood landed at Himi Fishing Port, along with regional ingredients such as Himi beef, white shrimp, Himi udon, and locally grown rice.
You can dine in one of three settings. Dining Umi looks across Toyama Bay and serves seafood-focused kaiseki. The standard Himi Kaiseki usually includes around eight courses prepared with seasonal fish and local ingredients.
Selected plans allow you to add a main dish such as stone-grilled beef, stone-grilled white shrimp, or grilled abalone.
Dining Honoo focuses on ingredients cooked over heat. Menus may combine sashimi and appetisers with grilled seafood, Ise lobster, and Himi beef. Dining Tsuki provides private dining rooms when you prefer a more personal meal with your partner or family.
Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:00 at Dining Umi on the sixth floor. The Japanese and Western buffet normally offers around 40 items, including coastal specialities, vegetables, side dishes, rice, bread, and drinks.
Onsen and wellness
Umiakari has two natural hot spring sources, allowing you to experience water with slightly different colours and textures during your stay.
The panoramic baths in the main building face Toyama Bay. Both the indoor and open-air baths use 100% natural hot spring water and offer views toward the Tateyama mountain range when conditions are clear. In the evening, you may also see the lights of fishing boats across the water.
The main baths are open from 4:00 to 9:00 and from 11:00 to midnight. An early visit gives you the chance to watch the sun rise over the bay.
Shio no Katei is a separate bathing building around three minutes from the front desk on foot. Its natural rock baths use free-flowing water from the hotel’s original source.
Both sources are sodium-chloride springs. The water is traditionally associated with warmth retention, recovery from fatigue, and relief from sensitivity to cold.
Guests with tattoos
If you have tattoos, you can enjoy a private soak in one of the Mori Wing rooms with a semi-open-air bath. The bath remains entirely within your accommodation, giving you privacy throughout your stay.
Facilities
The hotel includes Akariya, a shop selling local products, sweets, drinks, and souvenirs from Himi and Toyama. Vending machines and paid mahjong tables are also available.
Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout the rooms, and complimentary on-site parking is available when you arrive by car. The hotel can also collect you from JR Himi Station between 14:00 and 18:00 when your arrival time is provided. Morning transport follows selected JR Himi Line departures.
The six-storey building has full heating and air conditioning. Yukata, towels, toiletries, hairdryers, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are supplied for your stay.
