Overview
Kigasane sits by Lake Shibayama in Katayamazu Onsen, giving you a calm hot spring stay with lake views, natural spring water, regional food, and easy access to Kaga sightseeing. You can relax in the bright lobby with tea and cookies, spend time in the lounge with an all-inclusive plan, or enjoy the lake scenery from your room. Some rooms face Lake Shibayama, though the lake view may differ by room.
Accommodation
You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, and rooms with private baths. The Japanese-Western room with an open-air hot spring bath gives you 100% Katayamazu Onsen water, two bedrooms, a 12-tatami room, and space for 2 to 6 people. The pure Japanese-style room with a private open-air hot spring bath also uses 100% Katayamazu Onsen water and lets you enjoy views of Shibayama Lagoon from the room and bath. For a more compact stay, the Japanese-Western room with a semi-open-air bath includes twin beds and a tatami area, though the bath does not use natural hot spring water. You can also stay in a spacious Japanese-Western room for up to 6 people, a pure Japanese-style special room for 2 to 8 people, or a standard Japanese-style room for 1 to 5 people with a view of Shibayama Lagoon.
Dining
You can enjoy the flavors of Kaga at Restaurant and Tea Room Tsuki no Za. Breakfast and dinner are served in a semi-private setting, with fried dishes prepared in the open kitchen and steaks grilled fresh. The head chef focuses on serving hot dishes while they are still hot. Seasonal kaiseki meals highlight Kaga vegetables, seafood from the Sea of Japan, sweet shrimp, crab, blackthroat seaperch, Wagyu beef, Noto pork, and Ishikawa rice. You can also order special dishes such as white shrimp sashimi, deep-fried white shrimp, assorted sashimi, sweet shrimp sashimi, abalone, beef grilled on magnolia leaves, and Wagyu steak.
Onsen and Wellness
You can bathe in 100% natural Katayamazu Onsen water, a sodium chloride spring known for its high salt content. The water warms your body from the core and helps you stay warm after bathing by forming a gentle protective film on the skin. It is also said to help with cold sensitivity, neuralgia, chronic digestive concerns, gastrointestinal conditions, rheumatism, and gout.
The large public baths, Orihime and Hikoboshi, change between men and women depending on the date and time. Orihime offers an indoor bath and open-air bath, while Hikoboshi adds a Finnish-style sauna. The open-air baths are open from 15:00 to 25:00, and the sauna is open from 15:00 to 24:00.
Guests with tattoos
Because you can soak in a private onsen inside your room, you will be able to enjoy the onsen regardless of tattoos. For the public onsen, tattoos must be fully covered.
Facilities
You can enjoy two large public baths, open-air baths, a Finnish-style sauna in Hikoboshi, and the Hot Stone Bath Star Boat. The hot stone bath lets you lie on warm stones in a quiet space with healing music, helping you sweat comfortably at around 40℃.
You can use it for 1,000 yen per person for one hour, with same-day application at the front desk. The ryokan also offers an all-inclusive lounge for eligible plans, a work space with an extra charge, souvenir and gift shops, karaoke from 15:00 to 24:00, and a table tennis amusement space from 15:00 to 22:00. Small banquet rooms are also available for groups of 8 to 40 people.
Activities
You can walk to Lake Shibayama, Sunabashiri Park, Ukimido Ukiuki Benten, and Aizenji Temple from the ryokan. Around the lake, you can enjoy seasonal scenery, illuminated views at night, and kayak or SUP experiences. Within a short drive, you can visit Kutani ware shops and museums, Kitamaebune cultural sites, Rosanjin’s former residence, Kaga Fruit Land, Japan Automobile Museum, and Kaga Traditional Craft Village Yunokuni no Mori. Kanazawa, Fukui, Shirakawa-go, Tojinbo, Eiheiji Temple, and the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum are also good day-trip choices by car.
