Overview

Tokyu Harvest Club VIALA Kinugawa Keisui gives you a private hot spring stay overlooking the forests and steep valley scenery of Kinugawa in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. Wide windows connect the interior with the landscape, while wood, stone, warm lighting, and open terraces create an elegant setting for slowing down.

Every room includes its own open-air hot spring bath, so you can soak whenever you like without leaving your accommodation. You can also enjoy a large shared onsen, sauna, firepit terrace, rooftop viewing deck, and inventive dining built around fire, fermentation, and regional ingredients.

The property forms part of Tokyu Harvest Club’s VIALA collection. It combines the space and privacy of a private retreat with the dining, bathing, and shared facilities of a full resort.

Accommodation

The property has 48 rooms, and every category includes a private open-air hot spring bath. Rooms begin at 57 square metres, giving you more space than a standard resort room. You can choose Western, Japanese-Western, family, maisonette, accessible, and pet-friendly layouts.

Deluxe Western Rooms range from 57 to 71 square metres and accommodate three or four people, depending on the layout. Deluxe Japanese-Western Rooms offer 59 square metres and combine beds with tatami space, allowing up to five people to stay together.

The 71-square-metre Universal Deluxe Room provides an easier layout when you use a wheelchair or need more room to move. It accommodates up to four people and still includes a private open-air hot spring bath.

Family Suites offer 82 square metres and accommodate up to six people. The Japanese-Western layout gives you separate areas for sleeping and relaxing, making it a strong choice for a family or small group.

Signature Suites range from 117 to 152 square metres. These large maisonette rooms include separate living and sleeping spaces, Japanese or Japanese-Western interiors, and private bathing overlooking the surrounding landscape. Depending on the suite, you can stay with up to five or six people.

Selected pet-friendly rooms provide 63 or 82 square metres and accommodate up to five people. Separate rental cage rooms for dogs and cats are also available for an added charge.

Your room includes samue-style indoor clothing, a bathrobe, towels, bath products, a hair dryer, electric kettle, humidifying air purifier, safe, Bluetooth speaker, tea and glassware. You can also borrow baby beds, bed guards, chargers, wheelchairs, board games, and other useful items while supplies last.

Dining

Restaurant Kei centres its dining experience on fire, fermentation, and nature. The kitchen works with produce from Tochigi, northern Kanto, and the Tohoku region, using wood, charcoal, and other fire-based techniques to bring out each ingredient’s flavour.

The HINOHO chef’s-counter course places you close to the open kitchen. You can watch each dish take shape while the culinary team explains the producers, ingredients, and cooking methods behind the meal.

KUNUGI offers a full table course shaped by seasonal ingredients and wood-fire cooking. TOCHI provides a lighter table course when you prefer a shorter dinner without losing the restaurant’s main character. Drink pairings may include wine, sake, or alcohol-free choices selected for each course.

Dinner service begins from 5:30 PM, with seating times depending on your chosen course and plan. Advance booking is recommended.

At breakfast, you choose a Japanese or Western main set and add dishes from the half buffet. The morning selection includes fermented ingredients, vegetables, local seasonings, small side dishes, bread, drinks, and desserts. Breakfast reservations are available at 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, 9:00 AM, and 9:30 AM.

The lifestyle shop beside the restaurant sells selected tableware and ingredients used at Kei. You can also pick up the culinary team’s original brioche, pound cake, and other items between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM.

Onsen and Wellness

The resort draws water from its private Shaka no Yu source. The spring is an alkaline simple hot spring classified as hypotonic, alkaline, and high-temperature. Its traditional indications include relief from muscle discomfort, joint stiffness, neuralgia, sensitivity to cold, bruises, and tiredness.

Every room includes a private open-air bath filled with hot spring water. You can bathe early in the morning, after dinner, or late at night while enjoying fresh air and views of the surrounding trees.

The first-floor bathing area includes indoor hot spring baths, open-air baths, a sauna, and a cold-water bath. Large windows bring natural light into the sauna and help connect the bathing area with the forest outside.

The shared baths open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 3:00 PM to midnight. Towels should be brought from your room.

Two reservable family baths sit on the sixth floor and give you a private space beneath the open sky. Sessions last one hour and are available from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM for an added charge.

If You Have Tattoos

If you have tattoos, tattoo-style stickers, or body art, you cannot use the shared public baths.

You can enjoy the private open-air hot spring bath inside your room instead. Every room includes one, so you can experience the resort’s natural hot spring water in complete privacy throughout your stay.

Facilities

The VIALA priority lounge opens from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, while the main lobby lounge remains available throughout the day and night. You can sit beside the high windows, enjoy the forest outlook, or spend quiet time reading and talking.

KINUGAWA TERRACE opens from 5:00 AM to midnight. Its sunken firepit seating lets you watch the flames while looking toward the valley. The rooftop THE VIEW TERRACE follows the same hours and gives you an open place for stargazing when the sky is clear.

Two complimentary telework booths sit beside the first-floor lounge and can be used before check-in or after check-out. The building also includes 24-hour vending areas and a complimentary laundry room.

Selected rooms welcome pets, and rental cage rooms are available for dogs and cats. Baby equipment, wheelchairs, games, and mahjong sets can also be arranged, subject to availability and applicable charges.

Activities

You can spend much of your time inside the resort. Begin with a private bath, enjoy breakfast overlooking the trees, relax in the lounge, and return to the onsen before dinner. After your meal, sit beside the firepit or head to the rooftop to look at the stars.

The resort also hosts changing cultural, dining, craft, and wellness programmes. These may include wine-focused evenings, natural craft sessions, tea experiences, fragrance activities, and calligraphy. Dates and reservation conditions change throughout the year.

Tobu World Square is close to the resort and displays detailed miniature versions of landmarks from around the world. You can also visit Edo Wonderland, join a seasonal Kinugawa River boat trip, or explore the bridges and walking areas around the hot spring town.

For a longer day out, continue to central Nikko for Toshogu Shrine, Rinnoji Temple, Futarasan Shrine, and the wider World Heritage area.
