Overview

Step into the long-standing tradition of Yoshidaya Sannoukaku, a ryokan with deep roots in Yamashiro Onsen, a hot spring town with over 1,300 years of history. This ryokan carries forward the heritage of two original establishments, “Yoshidaya” and “Kuraya,” blending the spirit of a well-established inn with warm hospitality. When you arrive, the staff welcomes you with a seasonal drink in the spacious lobby. Large windows frame the changing scenery — cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green leaves in summer, red foliage in autumn, and snowy views in winter. Every season offers a new reason to pause and enjoy your surroundings.

Accommodation

You can choose from a range of Japanese-style rooms in the main building or upgrade to special suites with private open-air baths in the Shofuan annex.

Main Building Rooms

Special Room (Hooh-den): Enjoy 27 m² of main space plus additional rooms, ideal for multi-generational travel or celebrations. The room includes a mini-kitchen and traditional tatami flooring.

Quasi-Special Room (Hooh-den): A slightly smaller but refined option with a second room and a small garden. Perfect for anniversaries or when you want extra comfort.

Large Room (Hooh-den): Accommodates up to 10 people with multiple connected rooms, ideal for family gatherings or group stays.

Standard Room: A simple, calm 18 m² Japanese-style space with veranda, perfect for couples or solo travelers.

Shofuan Annex – Rooms with Open-Air Baths

Each of the five Shofuan rooms has a distinct design element — such as a tea room, dining space, or “Nemuri no Ma” sleeping room — combined with a private open-air hot spring bath fed directly from the source. Rooms feature seasonal garden views, handcrafted furnishings, and winter comforts like floor heating or a kotatsu.

Dining

Your stay includes carefully crafted kaiseki meals that highlight seasonal Hokuriku ingredients. Dishes feature fresh seafood from local ports, Kaga vegetables, and regional delicacies served on Kutani and Shigaraki ceramics. You can dine in the privacy of your room or in the semi-private “Nagomi” dining area. Breakfast is a colorful buffet of over 40 dishes, from local vegetables to freshly prepared side dishes, giving you a nourishing start to your day.

In winter, special menus feature snow crab prepared in multiple styles — boiled, grilled, in hot pots, or as sashimi. You can also add premium dishes like rosy seabass, abalone, or local beef to your meal plan.

Onsen and Wellness

Yoshidaya Sannoukaku boasts Yamashiro Onsen’s largest hot spring output, with more than 100,000 liters flowing daily. Large public baths and open-air baths are located on the first and third floors, alternating between men’s and women’s use morning and evening. The sodium-calcium chloride water is known for easing muscle pain, fatigue, and joint stiffness.

For privacy, reserve the “Waraku” private bath — a spacious, barrier-free bathing area with direct source water and adjustable temperature, suitable even for families with small children or pregnant travelers.

Guests with Tattoos: If you have tattoos, you can fully enjoy the private “Waraku” bath without restrictions. This ensures a comfortable and inclusive experience.

Facilities

You have access to a wide range of leisure and relaxation options:

  • Outdoor pool (seasonal)
  • Karaoke room, game corner, and table tennis
  • Lounge and bar
  • Beauty spa and massage services
  • Banquet halls for gatherings

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, though signals may be weaker in some rooms.

Activities

Beyond relaxing in your room and soaking in the baths, you can try pottery, golf, fishing, cycling, and seasonal activities. In winter, your room is prepared for comfort with heated floors or a kotatsu, so you can watch the snow fall in warmth. You can also celebrate special occasions with arranged cakes, champagne, or flower bouquets.
