Overview

Stay among the trees and open fairways of Minami-Karuizawa at The Prince Karuizawa. The hotel stands away from the busier station district, with Mount Asama rising beyond the golf course when the weather is clear.

Every room faces Mount Asama, allowing you to watch the landscape change through spring greenery, summer light, autumn colour, and winter snow. Large windows keep the mountain and surrounding grounds connected to your room.

The hotel completed a major renewal across selected rooms and shared spaces in 2025. Dining, reading, cycling, golf, nearby natural hot springs, and seasonal outdoor activities give you several ways to enjoy the wider Prince Grand Resort Karuizawa.

Accommodation

Choose from twin rooms, a king room, executive accommodation, and large suites. Room sizes range from 34.8 to 94.4 square metres, and every category looks toward Mount Asama. Clouds, mist, trees, and changing weather can affect the view.

The Superior Twin and renovated Deluxe Twin each measure 34.8 square metres and contain two 120-centimetre-wide beds. Both occupy the second floor and accommodate two people.

The Garden Twin and renovated Deluxe Garden Twin measure 40.3 square metres. Two beds and a sofa bed allow up to three people to stay together. These first-floor rooms connect directly with the hotel garden.

The Executive Twin and Executive King sit on the third floor and measure 34.8 square metres. The Twin has two beds, while the King has one 200-centimetre-wide bed. Both include a daybed beside the picture window and access to the Executive Lounge.

The 69.6-square-metre Executive Suite has a separate bedroom and living room. Two 140-centimetre-wide beds accommodate up to two people, while a writing desk and larger sitting area support a longer stay.

The Prince Suite measures 94.4 square metres and accommodates up to four people. Its layout includes a living room and two bedrooms, each with two beds. Suite access also includes the Executive Lounge.

Room equipment includes free Wi-Fi, a television, humidifying air purifier, safe, Nespresso coffee machine, hair dryer, nightwear, bathrobes, towels, toiletries, and tea-making items. Private room bathrooms use regular heated water rather than natural hot spring water.

Dining

Dining Room Beaux Sejours serves French cuisine in a brick-lined room overlooking Mount Asama and the water beside the hotel. Wide windows make the landscape part of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with final orders at 10:00 a.m. Rather than a large resort buffet, you can begin the morning with a carefully prepared breakfast in a quieter dining setting.

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The menu focuses on seasonal French dishes and changes during the year.

Dinner runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. French courses use selected seasonal ingredients and detailed presentation, supported by an extensive wine collection. Dinner reservations are recommended, and a dress standard applies during the evening.

Bar Windsor provides a separate setting for whisky, cocktails, wine, and an after-dinner drink. In-room dining also allows you to eat privately while enjoying the view from your accommodation.

Executive-floor and suite stays include access to the Executive Lounge. Drinks and light food are served during daytime and evening periods, with the night session limited to those aged 12 and older.

Onsen and Wellness

The Prince Karuizawa does not have a hot spring bath inside its own building. Your stay includes access to Forest Hot-Spring beside Karuizawa Prince Hotel East and Momiji Hot-Spring beside Karuizawa Prince Hotel West.

Forest Hot-Spring uses water from Karuizawa Yagasaki Onsen. It is classified as a weakly alkaline, hypotonic sodium chloride spring and emerges at approximately 43.5°C.

The facility includes separate indoor and open-air baths for men and women, along with a steam sauna. Windows and outdoor bathing areas look toward the surrounding forest.

Momiji Hot-Spring uses water from Karuizawa Momijiyama Onsen. It is a weakly alkaline, hypotonic simple spring with indoor and open-air baths facing the trees and Momijiyama.

Momiji Hot-Spring also has Finnish-style löyly saunas and cold-water baths. A lounge provides space to sit and cool down after bathing.

Both hot spring facilities normally open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with final entry at 10:30 p.m. Towels are provided at reception. A local bathing tax applies.

You can travel between the hotel and the bathing facilities on the resort pickup bus. The baths are not within comfortable indoor walking distance, so allow time for transport.

The hotel does not have a reservable family onsen, private hot spring, or room with natural onsen water.

SPA THE FOREST PRINCE is located beside Karuizawa Prince Hotel East. Its treatment menu includes body and facial care in a forest-inspired spa setting.

Guests with Tattoos

From July 2026, you can use Forest Hot-Spring and Momiji Hot-Spring when you have tattoos. Tattoos alone are no longer a reason to deny access.

You can use the indoor baths, open-air baths, and sauna facilities under the same hygiene and conduct rules as everyone else.

The hotel does not provide a separate private onsen or reservable bathing room.

Facilities

Library Café Rindo gives you a quiet place to read beside windows overlooking the greenery. Books connected with Karuizawa line the shelves, while drinks and light refreshments are available during the day.

A dedicated fitness room opens from early morning until evening. It is limited to those aged 16 and older, and indoor training shoes can be borrowed.

The Executive Lounge serves the third-floor executive rooms and suite categories. Daytime and evening food and drinks are included for eligible room types.

Complimentary bicycles are available from spring until late autumn. Adult and children’s bicycles allow you to explore the resort grounds and nearby parts of Karuizawa, subject to weather and availability.

The Smile Concierge centre near the south exit of Karuizawa Station provides luggage and arrival support. Resort pickup buses also connect the station, hotel buildings, shopping area, and hot spring facilities.

On-site parking and an advance-reservation electric-vehicle charging point are available. Free Wi-Fi covers the rooms and principal shared areas.

Activities

Play golf at one of the courses within the wider Prince resort. The nearby Karuizawa Prince Hotel Golf Course has a relatively flat nine-hole layout suited to beginners and relaxed resort play.

Executive-floor and suite stays include one complimentary nine-hole round per day during the green season, excluding required taxes and insurance charges. The same room categories include one hour of tennis per day with advance booking.

Borrow a bicycle and ride through the resort grounds or toward Karuizawa Station and the Prince Shopping Plaza. The shopping complex contains fashion stores, sports brands, restaurants, cafés, and open lawn areas.

Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort opens during winter and offers slopes for beginners, experienced skiers, snowboarders, and children. Executive and suite accommodation includes access to preferred lift-ticket conditions during the ski season.

Forest adventure courses, children’s nature programs, tree trekking, and seasonal outdoor play areas operate within the resort. Opening periods depend on the weather and time of year.

Beyond the property, you can visit Kyu-Karuizawa, Kumoba Pond, Harunire Terrace, Shiraito Falls, local churches, museums, cafés, and forest paths.

Additional Features

A complimentary resort shuttle reaches the hotel from the south side of Karuizawa Station in around 20 minutes. Buses normally run at intervals between morning and evening. A taxi takes around five minutes under normal traffic conditions.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen connects Tokyo Station with Karuizawa Station in approximately one hour on the fastest services.

Parking is available on the property. Charges and access conditions depend on your stay, and the parking pass remains valid until the evening of your departure day.

The hotel works particularly well when you prefer large Mount Asama-facing rooms, French dining, golf, reading, and access to two natural hot spring facilities within a large highland resort.
