Overview

Seaside Satake gives you a seaside ryokan stay in Amino, Kyotango, with Hachicho Beach directly in front of you. You can walk to the sand in about one minute, making it easy to enjoy the coast before breakfast, after dinner, or whenever you want a quiet break by the water. From ocean-view rooms, you can look out over the Sea of Japan and enjoy the clear blue tones that define this part of Kyoto by the Sea.

The ryokan works well if you want a stay built around seafood, hot springs, and easy beach access. In 2024, the fifth-floor “Betsuyu” area opened with four rooms that include hot spring view baths, adding a more private option for travelers who want the sea and onsen experience in their own space.

Accommodation

You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, and the newer Betsuyu rooms on the fifth floor. Standard room options include ocean-view Japanese rooms, ocean-view Japanese-Western rooms, a 12-tatami Japanese-Western room, and 10-tatami Japanese rooms. These rooms keep the stay simple and comfortable, with tatami space, bedding or beds depending on the room type, and a relaxed seaside atmosphere.

The Betsuyu floor offers four rooms with hot spring view baths. Three face the ocean, while one looks toward the tiled rooftops of Kyotango. The largest room, Mina, is 120㎡ and includes an ocean view, private sauna, water bath, and hot spring bath. Raku is a 75㎡ ocean-view room with a hot spring bath, while Yu and Sho are 37㎡ rooms with hot spring baths.

Betsuyu rooms include helpful extras such as free drinks in the refrigerator, Imabari towels, room wear, bathrobes in selected rooms, ReFa shower heads, and drip coffee. These rooms suit you well if you want more privacy and time in the bath without using the shared bathing areas.

Dining

Meals focus on the seafood and seasonal ingredients of the Tango region. Dinner changes through the year, with spring menus featuring items such as red snow crab, prawns, mountain vegetables, seasonal rice dishes, and Tajima beef. Summer brings ingredients such as rock oysters, ayu, abalone, local squid, and seafood cooked on a ceramic plate.

Autumn meals may include matsutake mushrooms, nodoguro, abalone, Tajima beef, and seasonal rice. Winter is centered on crab, including plans with snow crab, crab hot pot, grilled crab, and crab sashimi. You can also add dishes such as fresh sashimi boat presentation, abalone, or Tajima beef steak.

Breakfast lets you choose Japanese or Western style. The Japanese breakfast includes Tango Koshihikari rice, homemade tofu, dried fish, and local ingredients. The Western breakfast uses bread from the seaside bakery Pango Tango and includes items such as homemade yogurt made with Tango Hiraya milk.

Onsen and Wellness

The hot spring uses Asamogawa Urashima Onsen water, an alkaline simple spring with a pH of 8.69. The water has a smooth feel and is known locally as a “beauty bath.” You can use the indoor baths, open-air baths, and, if you book a Betsuyu room, your own in-room hot spring bath.

The large public baths include indoor and open-air bathing areas for men and women. There is also a private bath available by reservation for 50 minutes at an additional fee. The private bath can be used from 3:00 PM to midnight and again from 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM

Guests with tattoos

If you have tattoos, the easiest option is to book a Betsuyu room with an in-room hot spring bath or reserve the private bath. For public bath use, check with the ryokan before your stay.
