Overview

Arashima Onsen Yumoto Amanoshima gives you a sea-facing hot spring stay in Toba, Mie, with wide views over Toba Bay and its own natural hot spring source. You stay at 1075-100 Arashimacho, Toba City, in a coastal setting that brings together ocean scenery, seasonal Ise-Shima cuisine, and alkaline hot spring bathing.

This is a strong choice when you want the classic pleasures of the Ise-Shima area in one place: seafood, ocean views, easy access to Toba sightseeing, and baths fed by Arashima Onsen water from deep underground. You can spend the day visiting Ise Grand Shrine, Toba Aquarium, or Mikimoto Pearl Island, then return for dinner, a soak, and a quiet evening by the bay.

Accommodation

You stay in an ocean-view room facing calm Toba Bay. Every room includes free Wi-Fi, and the room types include Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, Japanese rooms with beds, and Japanese rooms combined with Western-style space. Some room categories are non-smoking, while some Japanese-style and bedded Japanese rooms also have smoking options.

If you prefer beds, you can choose a Japanese-Western room with semi-double twin beds or a Japanese room with beds. These rooms let you enjoy a tatami area during the day, then sleep in Western-style bedding at night. If you prefer a classic ryokan feel, the Japanese-style rooms give you tatami, a wide veranda, soft light, and sea views from the room.

Room facilities include a unit bath, washbasin, toilet with washlet, LCD TV, tea set, kettle, safe, humidifying air purifier, and hair dryer. Amenities include yukata, hanten coat in autumn and winter, face towel, bath towel, toothbrush, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, and women’s shower cap.

You can also request helpful loan items such as smartphone chargers, nail clippers, ice pillows, thermometers, fan heaters, irons, children’s chairs, baby bath chairs, diaper buckets, children’s slippers, toddler futons, playing cards, and kabufuda cards. Some items have limited availability.

Dining

Dining at Amanoshima focuses on the seasonal flavors of Ise, Shima, and Toba. You can enjoy seafood and mountain ingredients from the region, with Ise lobster and abalone highlighted as key local tastes. Ise lobster may appear in different preparations, including sashimi, grilled dishes, or tempura, depending on the plan and season.

Kaiseki plans may include dishes such as seasonal appetizers, sashimi, tempura, chawanmushi, abalone grilled at the table, Matsusaka beef shabu-shabu, octopus rice made with octopus from Toshijima, soup, pickles, and seasonal dessert. Some plans feature Ise lobster as a cooked dish, while others include a whole Ise lobster sashimi course.

You can also add extra dishes to your meal, such as grilled turban shell, dashimaki omelet, tempura, fried shrimp, sashimi, simmered fish, abalone grilled at the table, Matsusaka beef steak, Ise lobster sashimi, or sea bream boat-style sashimi. The drink list includes Japanese sake, so you can pair local seafood with a more traditional evening meal.

Meals are served in the dining hall, regardless of your accommodation plan. The dining space uses chairs and tables, so you can enjoy dinner and breakfast without sitting directly on the floor.

If you have food allergies, vegetarian needs, vegan needs, or other special dietary restrictions, you should plan carefully before booking. Amanoshima does not provide meals for food allergies and does not accommodate vegetarian, vegan, or other special dietary requests

Onsen and Wellness

Amanoshima is the source inn for Arashima Onsen. The hot spring rises from 1,500 meters underground and uses an alkaline simple spring with pH 9.3. The inn uses this source in the large baths and open-air baths, and the water is not diluted because the source has enough volume.

The spring name is Arashima Onsen. The water is listed as an alkaline simple hot spring, with a 25.0°C source temperature and an output of 60 liters per minute through powered pumping from a 1,500-meter drilled source. The listed indications include neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, joint stiffness, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive concerns, hemorrhoids, cold sensitivity, fatigue recovery, and recovery after illness.

You can enjoy two large indoor bath styles. Himiko no Yu is a cypress bath made with a sacred tree said to be 2,000 years old, giving the space a warm wood scent and a strong sense of history. Moonlight Mermaid is designed around a mermaid legend, with shell details and a moonlit ocean feeling.

The open-air baths offer a different mood. Tensen no Yu is a rock bath where you can feel the sea breeze and night air, while Gekko no Yu lets you soak with views toward Toba Bay. Bathing areas switch between men and women by time, so you can enjoy different baths on the day you arrive and the next morning.

Bathing hours are 15:00 to 23:30 and 5:30 to 9:00. Bath amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body soap, peeling gel, women’s lotion and emulsion, and men’s hair tonic and liquid. Hair dryers and shower chairs are available, and you can find a vending machine in the lobby near the large bath.

Guests with tattoos

People with tattoos are now allowed to use the public baths.

Facilities

Amanoshima has 33 rooms and keeps its facilities focused on views, meals, bathing, and relaxed time inside the inn. You can use the entrance, front lobby, shop, dining hall, club and lounge, large baths, and open-air baths.

The entrance sits on the 2nd floor, and the lobby looks out over Toba Bay. Around the lobby, you can find a coffee corner and shop, giving you a place to pause before check-in, after a bath, or before departure.

The shop lets you pick up items during your stay or before checkout. The former banquet hall now works as the dining area, with a comfortable setting for meals. The club and lounge offers drinks and karaoke, making it easy to enjoy a casual evening after dinner.

Other facilities and services include free Wi-Fi in all rooms, parking for up to 50 cars, a front lobby, credit card payment support, an entrance slope, and a wheelchair available for loan.

Activities

Amanoshima gives you easy access to Toba and Ise-Shima sightseeing. Ise Grand Shrine’s Naiku and Geku areas are each about 30 minutes away by car, so you can plan a shrine visit during your stay.

Toba Aquarium is about 5 minutes away by car and is known for its large collection of marine and river life, including dugongs. Mikimoto Pearl Island is about 10 minutes away by car and introduces the story of Kokichi Mikimoto and cultured pearls.

You can also visit Arashima Beach, about 10 minutes away by car, or Shima Spain Village, about 30 minutes away by car. This gives you a mix of shrine visits, ocean sightseeing, family activities, and coastal scenery within easy reach.

Additional features

Anrakujima Onsen Yumoto Amanoshima suits travelers who want ocean views, restorative hot spring bathing, and regional cuisine in one place. Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out takes place at 10:00 AM, giving you time to enjoy both evening and morning baths.

You leave with the scent of the sea still in your memory and the feeling of warmth lingering in your body. Amanoshima offers more than a place to stay—it gives you a coastal retreat that feels welcoming, comforting, and easy to return to again.
