Overview

APA Resort Kasuikyo places you in Katayamazu Onsen, one of the hot spring areas of Kaga Onsenkyo. From the resort, you look out toward Lake Shibayama and the Hakusan mountain range, with water, sky, and open scenery shaping the stay from morning to night. This is a spacious hot spring resort where you can enjoy lake views, seasonal Hokuriku dining, large baths, sauna time, and easy access to the surrounding hot spring town.

You can spend the day walking near the lakeside, relaxing in the lounge, soaking in Tamayura no Yu, or staying in a room with its own open-air bath. The resort works well when you want a classic onsen stay with wide views, Japanese-style rooms, family-friendly facilities, and enough space to settle in at your own pace.

Accommodation

APA Resort Kasuikyo offers rooms with views toward Lake Shibayama, and from some rooms you can also see Mount Hakusan in the distance. The rooms bring together Japanese-style relaxation, tatami space, and practical resort comfort, with options ranging from standard lakeside Japanese rooms to top-floor rooms with private open-air baths.

The top-floor open-air bath rooms sit on the 8th floor and give you the strongest sense of privacy and scenery. The top-floor Japanese room has a 10-tatami layout, a sitting area, a balcony, and a private open-air bath. The top-floor Japanese-Western Suite has a 7.5-tatami Japanese room, twin bedroom, sitting area, balcony, shower booth, and private open-air bath. From these rooms, you can enjoy the lake and mountain scenery while soaking in your own bath, with morning light and evening views adding to the experience.

The Superior Japanese-Western Room gives you a 4.5-tatami Japanese room, twin beds, a living area, and a balcony, so you can stretch out more comfortably than in a simple standard room. The Renovated Japanese-Western Rooms were completed in January 2025 and can be used as connecting rooms when you book two rooms and contact the resort in advance, making them a good choice when you want to stay close to family or friends while keeping some privacy.

The Superior Two-Room Japanese Room has two Japanese rooms, a sitting area, and a traditional feel, giving you a calm space for a classic ryokan-style stay. The Osho Room, Gyokusho Room, and Tachiai Room were prepared to commemorate the Eio title match, and they keep the feel of a refined Japanese room. If you stay in the Osho Room or Gyokusho Room, you may receive an original folding fan at check-in while supplies last.

The Standard Japanese-Western Room combines a 10-tatami Japanese space, twin beds, and a sitting area. The Lakeside Standard Japanese Room gives you a 10-tatami Japanese room, a sitting area, and a curved balcony facing the lake. This room type keeps the stay simple while still letting you enjoy the scenery that makes Kasuikyo special.

Dining

Dining at APA Resort Kasuikyo highlights Hokuriku flavors, with seafood from the Sea of Japan and seasonal ingredients from the region. Dinner focuses on Japanese kaiseki, with dishes that change by season. Winter brings snow crab, autumn brings matsutake mushrooms, and spring brings bamboo shoots, while seafood remains a central part of the meal throughout the year.

Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:30, with final entry at 9:00. Depending on the date, you may enjoy a Japanese and Western buffet or a Japanese set meal. The buffet includes local-style dishes and live kitchen items, with examples such as grilled dried fish, fresh egg dishes, seafood hot pot, Noto pork, seasonal vegetables, and desserts. Some plans also let you choose between the buffet and the Japanese breakfast set Hyakumangoku Asage at check-in.

Meals are served in a dining room, private Japanese dining room, small banquet room, or large banquet room depending on the day’s arrangements. If you have food allergies, the resort can adjust some meal items when you share the details in advance, but same-day changes are not available. Vegetarian requests can also be discussed in advance, depending on the details.

Onsen and Wellness

The main hot spring bath, Tamayura no Yu, looks out toward Lake Shibayama and the Hakusan mountain range. The bath area has a large indoor panoramic bath with a 15-meter-wide view, plus a semi-open-air bath next to the main bath. The open-air bath has a roof, so you can enjoy it in different weather. At night, you can see the lake and illuminated fountain from the bath area, giving your soak a different mood after dark.

The large bath area also includes a sauna and cold bath. After the sauna, you can cool down, return to the indoor bath or open-air bath, and enjoy the view of Hakusan from the outdoor cooling area. After bathing, you can relax in the lounge with free drinks.

The large public bath is usually open from 15:00 to 25:00 and again from 5:00 to 10:00. The sauna follows the same listed hours. Bath hours may change for maintenance, so you should check the schedule during your stay.

The hot spring water is from Katayamazu Onsen. The spring quality is sodium-calcium chloride spring water, and the water is associated with relief for shoulder stiffness, skin concerns, beauty support, and women’s health concerns. The resort notes that the indoor bath and open-air bath use the same spring quality and have the same listed benefits.

Day-use bathing is available from 14:00 to 22:00, depending on crowding and maintenance. Separate fees apply, and towel rental may be available depending on the plan.

Guests with Tattoos

APA Resort Kasuikyo follows APA’s large-bath tattoo policy. You cannot enter the large public bath with tattoos unless the tattoos can be fully covered by APA’s designated tattoo cover seals. You can receive up to two 10 cm by 12 cm cover seals per night at the front desk. If your tattoos cannot be fully covered by those seals, you cannot use the large public bath. If you want more privacy, choose a top-floor room with a private open-air bath.

Facilities

APA Resort Kasuikyo gives you plenty to enjoy before and after your hot spring time. After a soak at Tamayura no Yu, you can cool down in the relaxation lounge with complimentary drinks and ice candy while looking out toward Lake Shibayama. You can also browse the souvenir shop for Hokuriku sweets, local items, APA original goods, drinks, and travel essentials.

The resort also has spaces for both quiet breaks and light entertainment. You can spend time at the café or lounge, enjoy evening drinks at the bar, sing in a karaoke room, play table tennis or billiards, or visit the game corner. In summer, the indoor pool adds an easy family-friendly option during your stay.

For events and group stays, APA Resort Kasuikyo has banquet halls, meeting rooms, and multi-purpose spaces. Free Wi-Fi, free parking, room service in the evening, massage arrangement, and a reservation-based shuttle from Kaga Onsen Station help make the stay smoother from arrival to departure.

Activities

You can enjoy the lakeside setting without traveling far from the resort. Lake Shibayama sits right by the property, and Ukimido is about a 10-minute walk away, making it easy to take a relaxed walk by the water. Along the way, you can also stop near the footbath at Sunabashiri Park.

Inside the resort, you can try the illustrated letter corner, where you can make one free postcard-style keepsake. You can also play table tennis, billiards, karaoke, mahjong, or arcade games, spend time in the indoor garden, or use the seasonal indoor pool during summer. If you want to explore more of the area, the front desk can share a local map, and nearby options include Katayamazu Golf Club, lakeside cycling, local restaurants, cafés, bars, and the wider Kaga Onsenkyo area.

Additional Features

Check-in starts at 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00. Early check-in and late check-out may be available for an additional fee depending on the day’s room situation. The front desk is open 24 hours, and there is no curfew. You can store luggage before check-in, send luggage to the resort before your stay, and use free parking without advance reservation. A free shuttle runs between Kaga Onsen Station and Kasuikyo by reservation, with pick-up from the station between 14:30 and 18:00 and return service from the resort between 8:00 and 10:30. Children age 0 to 2 can sleep in the same bed free of charge, and pets cannot stay at the resort, though the resort can introduce nearby pet hotels.
