Overview

Liberty Resort Daito Onsen gives you a countryside resort stay in Kakegawa, with natural hot springs, hotel rooms, cottage stays, camping, BBQ, a café, and pet-friendly spaces in one place. You can spend the day soaking in tea-brown hot spring water, relaxing on a private deck, grilling outdoors, or staying close to nature with views toward Mount Fuji and the sea from the camp area.

This is a flexible resort for a casual Shizuoka escape. You can choose the more private feel of The Ocean Hills, the easy outdoor style of Sunaba Village, or a free-site camping stay. The experience feels relaxed and playful, with enough space to slow down, enjoy the open air, and shape the trip around hot springs, food, pets, or time outside.

Accommodation

The Ocean Hills offers eight hotel rooms, each with a loft and a private open-air bath made with Mount Fuji lava stone. These in-room baths are not hot spring baths, but they give you a private place to soak in your own space. Each room also has a deck or private deck, Simmons mattresses, free Wi-Fi, individual air conditioning, a TV, refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, washlet toilet, bathroom, wash area, air purifier, and coffee machine with coffee, tea, and green tea.

The Loyal Suite is the most spacious and refined hotel room style, with a private deck, loft, and open-air lava-stone bath. The Premium Suite gives you an elevated room atmosphere with a deck, loft, and open-air bath. The West Coast rooms have a brighter, casual resort feel with a deck, loft, and open-air bath, making them a good choice when you want a simple break with an outdoor mood.

If you travel with a pet, the Modern rooms at The Ocean Hills let you stay with up to two small dogs or cats. These rooms include a private dog run, loft, and open-air lava-stone bath, and you can also use the hotel-stay dog run. Pet amenities include a cage and pet sheets, while food and other pet items should be brought with you.

Sunaba Village gives you a cottage-style stay with 10 compact cabins. Each cabin has a loft, wood deck, mini kitchen, shower room, washlet toilet, BBQ grill, IH stove, kettle, individual air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, hair dryer, safe, cooking tools, dishes, glasses, and basic amenities. Two people sleep in beds, while the third person uses the loft mattress. The TV is for streaming services, so terrestrial and BS channels are not available.

Sunaba Village also has pet-friendly cabins. You can stay with up to two small dogs or one medium-to-large dog in a designated pet cabin. A pet fee applies, and you need to follow the resort’s pet rules, including vaccination, toilet training, leash use outside, and proper cleanup.

Dining

Dining changes depending on how you choose to stay. If you stay at The Ocean Hills, you can dine at Jungle, the hotel-only restaurant. The dinner experience focuses on a creative course that does not stay tied to one fixed cuisine style. The atmosphere is calm, and the meal is designed for a slower evening after your bath or time outdoors. Breakfast is a warm Japanese-style breakfast to start the day gently.

If you stay at Sunaba Village, you can enjoy private BBQ on your wood deck. The BBQ style keeps things easy, with ingredients and tools prepared so you can focus on cooking and eating rather than setup and cleanup. This works well when you want a relaxed outdoor meal with family, friends, or your dog nearby.

Day-use BBQ is also available with advance reservation. You can use the BBQ area for a four-hour window between 12:00 and 20:00, and the plan includes day-use hot spring bathing. The café offers drinks, light meals, and desserts in a bright resort-style space, with terrace seating available when you bring your dog. Café hours change by date, so you should check the current schedule before planning around it.

Onsen and Wellness

The natural hot spring is the heart of Liberty Resort Daito Onsen. The water has a tea-brown color and a warming sodium-chloride quality, giving you a soothing bath experience after travel, outdoor time, or camping. The spring quality is sodium chloride spring water, classified as isotonic, weakly alkaline, and low temperature. The source temperature is 33.7°C, the pH is 8.1, and the listed flow rate is 60 liters per minute.

The hot spring area has Japanese-style and Western-style bathing zones that switch between men and women on a set schedule. You can enjoy indoor baths, open-air baths, reclining baths, a low-frequency bath, sauna, washing areas, powder spaces, and a rest room. The listed benefits include relief for nerve pain, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, bruises, sprains, chronic digestive concerns, hemorrhoids, sensitivity to cold, fatigue recovery, cuts, burns, chronic skin concerns, and general health support.

Day-use hot spring hours are 11:00 to 21:00, with final entry at 20:30. The bath facility closes every other Tuesday, though it opens when that day falls on a public holiday. If you stay at The Ocean Hills or Sunaba Village, you can use the large bath from check-in until 23:00, with 21:00 to 23:00 reserved for overnight stays. Morning bathing is not available for hotel and cottage stays. If you camp, you can use the bath from 11:00 to 23:00 and again from 10:00 to 12:00 the next day, except when the bath facility is closed.

Guests with Tattoos

Liberty Resort Daito Onsen does not allow you to enter the hot spring bath area with tattoos. If you stay at The Ocean Hills, you can still use your room’s private open-air lava-stone bath, but it is not hot spring water. Sunaba Village cabins have private showers, not private hot spring baths.

Facilities

Liberty Resort Daito Onsen is built for both bathing and outdoor stays. You can move between the natural hot spring area, The Ocean Hills hotel rooms, Sunaba Village cottages, the free-site camp area, the café, and the natural-grass dog run. The resort also supports BBQ stays, with deck BBQ at Sunaba Village and day-use BBQ for a casual meal outdoors.

The dog run gives your dog space to enjoy the grass, with two areas of different sizes. The café terrace can also be used with your dog, making the resort easier when you want to travel with a pet. The camp area has washing areas and toilets, while Sunaba Village lets you park one car beside each cabin for easier luggage handling. Free parking is available across the resort, with space for about 200 vehicles.

Activities

You can enjoy Liberty Resort Daito Onsen in several ways, depending on the pace of your trip. For a simple hot spring stay, spend the afternoon in the bath, return to your room or cottage, and enjoy a quiet evening on the deck. If you want more time outside, choose Sunaba Village for private BBQ or stay at the free-site camp area for open-air cooking, stargazing, and a more natural night.

The camp area sits on a hill with views toward Mount Fuji to the northeast and the sea to the south. You can set up your tent, enjoy the open sky, and use the hot spring during bath operating hours. Pets can stay with you in the free-site camp area, as long as they remain leashed and close to your tent.

On Saturdays, Sunaba Village may hold a campfire when the weather is suitable. Strong wind or rain can cancel it, but when it runs, it adds a warm evening atmosphere to the cottage area.
