Overview

At Shosuke no Yado Takinoyu, you stay beside the flowing waters of Aizu Higashiyama Onsen, close to the famous Fushimi-ga-taki waterfall. From the moment you arrive, the sound of the stream, the view of the valley, and the warm ryokan atmosphere help you slow down.

Your is a stay shaped by water, wood, stone, and local Aizu culture. You can soak in baths facing the waterfall, enjoy Aizu regional cuisine, relax in a room along the mountain stream, and spend your time moving gently between bathing, dining, and resting.

Accommodation

Your room faces the stream, so you can enjoy the changing scenery of Aizu from your window. You may hear the water below, see greenery across the valley, and feel close to the natural setting throughout your stay.

You can choose from several room styles. Yumemi-tei Japanese-style rooms offer a simple tatami setting for an easy ryokan stay. Yumemi-tei Japanese-Western rooms suit you if you prefer beds while still keeping a Japanese feel. Mugen-tei gives you a larger Japanese-style room, suited to a more spacious stay. Musou-an offers one of the best views in the building and a higher-grade Japanese-style setting. Shosuke Roman-tei gives you a designed Japanese-Western room with a stylish Aizu feel.

Your room includes yukata, a tea set, toiletries, and comfortable seating so you can settle in without needing anything extra. The layout encourages you to stretch out, rest, and enjoy the quiet charm of Aizu.

Dining

Dinner focuses on Aizu regional kaiseki cuisine, with local ingredients, seasonal produce, and traditional cooking methods. The meal blends local food culture with the rhythm of a multi-course Japanese dinner, so you can taste Aizu through small dishes, carefully prepared plates, and warm seasonal flavors.

Depending on your plan and room type, dinner may include ingredients such as Aizu horse meat, Aizu chicken, Aizu black wagyu, Aizu tofu, Aizu rice, and freshwater fish raised with water from the Bandai area. You may also find optional dishes such as Aizu wagyu shabu-shabu, sukiyaki, steak, beef sushi, soba, and Aizu-style horse meat dishes.

Breakfast brings you a local Aizu-style start to the day. The ryokan highlights regional ingredients and local home-style flavors, with a focus on hearty food that reflects Aizu’s food culture. Current FAQ information notes that breakfast is served as a chef-prepared breakfast set with service items, rather than an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Onsen and Wellness

The onsen is the heart of the stay. Higashiyama Onsen has a history said to go back about 1,300 years, and Shosuke no Yado Takinoyu places you beside the waterfall area connected to that history.

You can bathe in large indoor baths and open-air baths, each with its own setting. Fushimi-no-yu faces the Yukawa stream, bamboo scenery, and the outdoor Noh stage. Shosuke Hinoki-buro uses Japanese cypress and 100% free-flowing hot spring water. Takimi-no-yu sits beside Fushimi-ga-taki waterfall, where you can enjoy the waterfall view by day and illuminated scenery at night.

You can also enjoy Shosuke-buro, with views of Fushimi-ga-taki, Oya stone walls, and a bath containing tourmaline stone. Inishie-no-yu connects to the old story of Higashiyama Onsen’s discovery, while Shosuke Sake-buro uses a sake koji vat from Hanaharu Sake Brewery.

Private baths add more choice to your stay. Options include Izayoi-no-yu, with views of the stream, bamboo, and Noh stage; Tennei Onsen, an indoor private bath with washing space; Shosuke-no-yu, close to the stream; Maboroshi-no-yu, a free-flowing private open-air bath; and rooftop baths such as Hoshizora-no-yu and Tsukimi-no-yu, where you can look toward the city lights or the night sky.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, you cannot use the large public baths or open-air public baths.

Private baths are available by reservation, and some booking sources list indoor and open-air private hot spring baths at the property. Because the public-bath tattoo rule is strict, check directly before booking if you plan to use a private bath with tattoos.
