Overview
TAOYA Shima is an oceanfront onsen resort in Toba, Mie, facing Ise Bay. You stay at 1826-1 Shirahama, Uramura-cho, Toba City, with wide sea views, an all-inclusive stay style, buffet dining, and hot spring bathing in one easy resort setting.
This resort works well when you want a stay that feels simple from arrival to departure. Drinks in the lounge, alcohol with dinner, ice treats after bathing, late-night snacks, and many in-house services are included in the all-inclusive concept, so you can focus on the sea, the baths, and your own pace.
Accommodation
You choose from standard rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, Japanese-style rooms with beds, family-friendly layouts, and upgraded top-floor rooms. Some rooms look out toward the sea, while some room categories are listed as no-view rooms, so you should choose your room type carefully when booking.
Standard twin and triple rooms are around 34㎡ and include an indoor bath. These rooms suit you well when you want a simple, comfortable base for bathing, dining, and relaxing around the resort. There are also larger room types, including top-floor and corner deluxe rooms, Japanese-Western rooms with tatami space, and playful room styles such as KATARAI, which includes bunk beds.
If you want a more spacious stay, choose one of the upgraded rooms with a wider layout and stronger view appeal. If you travel with children, Japanese-style or Japanese-Western rooms give you more floor space for sitting, resting, and spending time together after dinner.
Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, and the resort has 123 rooms in total. Pets are not allowed.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are served buffet-style. You eat in a resort-style restaurant with live-kitchen dishes, seasonal ingredients, and local flavors from Mie and Ise-Shima.
At dinner, you can enjoy seafood, hot dishes, meat dishes, and local specialties. Tekone sushi is one of the key regional dishes to try; this Mie specialty uses marinated fish over rice and gives the buffet a clear local touch.
Alcohol is included during dinner as part of the all-inclusive stay, so you can pair your meal with beer, wine, sake, or other drinks without planning each order separately.
Breakfast continues in buffet style, with Japanese and Western dishes. You can begin the day slowly, enjoy the sea-facing resort atmosphere, and then decide whether to head out for sightseeing or stay longer inside the hotel.
Onsen and Wellness
The hot spring area is one of TAOYA Shima’s strongest features. You can soak in an infinity-style open-air bath where the bath, sky, and sea seem to stretch into one view. The indoor bath also faces the water, with large windows and a built-in bench where you can sit and take in the scenery.
The spring source is Sakakibara Onsen, brought to the hotel. The water is an alkaline simple hot spring, listed as a hypotonic, alkaline, low-temperature spring. The baths use heating and circulation filtration.
The listed indications include autonomic nervous system instability, insomnia, and depressive states. You can enjoy the water in the large public baths and open-air baths, with bathing hours listed from early morning until midnight on booking information.
After bathing, you can move to the after-bath lounge for included beer, ice treats, and time in the massage-chair area. This makes the bath experience feel complete: soak, cool down, sit back, and let your body settle.
The Starry Terrace adds another relaxing space, with a footbath where you can warm your feet while looking toward the night sky and sea.
Guests with tattoos
Visible tattoos are generally not allowed in the large communal baths at many Ooedo Onsen Monogatari facilities.
