Overview
Yukemuri no Yado Yukinohana places you in Echigo-Yuzawa Onsen, only about a 3-minute walk from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. You arrive easily by Joetsu Shinkansen, with Tokyo Station about 1 hour and 20 minutes away and Niigata Station about 50 minutes away. By car, you reach the inn in about 5 minutes from Yuzawa IC, with free on-site parking available.
This ryokan-style hot spring hotel brings you into the atmosphere of Niigata’s snow country through tatami-floored interiors, warm wood details, mountain views, and easy access to the hot spring culture of Yuzawa. You can spend the day skiing, walking around the station area, tasting local sake, or simply slowing down with a soak on the top floor.
Accommodation
Yukinohana has 86 non-smoking rooms designed in a Japanese-Western style, with tatami floors, low Japanese-style beds, seating space, and a calm, uncluttered feel. Each room includes heating and cooling, an empty refrigerator, TV, free Wi-Fi, and a humidifying air purifier. You also have room wear, towels, a hair dryer, toothbrush items, a razor, cotton swabs, a hairbrush, and other basic amenities, though amenity service may follow the hotel’s SDGs approach.
You can choose from Deluxe Suite, Japanese-style Suite, Japanese Triple, Japanese Twin, and Japanese Double rooms. The Deluxe Suite is the most spacious room type and includes a natural hot spring open-air bath, a shower booth, hinoki wood details, and views toward the Yuzawa mountains. The Japanese-style Suite gives you a larger tatami room with four Japanese-style beds and a private bath; some of these baths use natural hot spring water, while others use heated water. The Japanese Triple has three Japanese-style beds, a private bath in some rooms, and a shower booth. The Japanese Twin and Japanese Double offer a compact, comfortable stay with tatami flooring and a shower booth, while one Japanese Twin room is set up as a universal room with a bath.
Dining
Dinner at Yukinohana brings you seasonal Echigo flavors through a Japanese kaiseki meal. You enjoy carefully prepared dishes made with seasonal ingredients, paired with selected Niigata sake. During dinner, you can also enjoy a sake-tasting area featuring local sake from Niigata, a region known for rice, clear snowmelt water, and sake brewing.
Breakfast is a Japanese set meal built around Uonuma Koshihikari rice, cooked in a traditional large kama pot. The meal focuses on side dishes that pair well with rice, giving you a warm and satisfying start before skiing, sightseeing, or traveling onward.
Meals are served at Seppuan, the dining room. Most seats offer a semi-private feel, and counter seating looks out toward the mountains. Dinner usually runs in two seatings, at 17:30 and 20:00, while breakfast is usually served from 7:00 to 9:30 with last order at 9:00. Times may change depending on the date and level of occupancy.
At night, you can enjoy complimentary yonaki soba, a light ramen-style noodle dish served from 22:00 to 22:45 while supplies last. If you need a low-allergen menu, Yukinohana can prepare one based on 28 specified allergens when requested by email or phone at least two days before your stay.
Onsen and Wellness
The hot spring experience sits at the heart of Yukinohana. On the top floor, Hanayama no Yu gives you both indoor and open-air bathing with views of the Yuzawa mountains and changing seasonal scenery. The indoor bath area has a large bath, lie-down bath, sauna, and water bath, with tatami flooring and wood details that make the space feel warm and easy to relax in. The open-air area has a rock bath and lie-down bath, so you can soak while feeling the mountain air.
The large public baths are usually open from 15:00 until 10:00 the next morning, with a simple cleaning period late at night. The sauna usually operates from 15:00 to 24:00 and again from 5:00 to 10:00.
Yukinohana also has three free private baths that do not require advance reservation. You check the lamp at the entrance, and when it shows that the bath is free, you enter and lock the door from the inside. These private baths include Iwa no Yu, a spacious rock-style bath; Hinoki no Yu, an indoor bath with the scent of cypress wood; and To no Yu, a smooth ceramic bath. The private baths are open 24 hours and are free to use, though each use should be kept to around 30 minutes when others are waiting. These private baths have only a changing area and a tub, so you should use the large public bath when you need to wash your hair or body.
The hot spring water comes from Yuzawa Onsen. The water is a simple hot spring, classified as hypotonic, weakly alkaline, and high temperature. The source temperature is listed at 57.9°C, with a pH of 8.1. The water is associated with relief for joint pain, muscle pain, and fatigue recovery.
Guests with Tattoos
Yukinohana does not allow tattoos in the large public bath. If you have tattoos, you can use one of the three free private baths or a room bath instead.
