Overview
Atami TENSUI is a Japanese-modern auberge in Atami where hot spring bathing, creative Japanese dining, and stylish design come together in an easy, relaxed way. With only 19 rooms, the atmosphere feels personal and calm, making it a good choice when you want a more intimate stay without the formality of a traditional ryokan.
The hotel blends Japanese and Western design through its rooms, restaurant, baths, and shared spaces. You can arrive, enjoy the welcome service before dinner, soak in the hot spring baths, and spend the evening over creative kaiseki cuisine in Restaurant Sui. This stay works well when you want good food, soft hot spring water, and a polished Atami setting that still feels comfortable.
Accommodation
You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, Western-style rooms, and two special rooms with open-air baths. Each room has its own design, with different wallpaper, sofa colours, shoji patterns, and layouts, so the stay feels more personal than a standard hotel room.
For a special stay, the Japanese-style Twin Room with Open-Air Bath gives you a spacious 57㎡ room with two semi-double Simmons beds, a Japanese room layout, a shower booth, and an open-air bath. The Top Floor Japanese-Style Twin Room with Open-Air Bath gives you a 39㎡ room on the highest floor, also with two semi-double Simmons beds, a shower booth, and an open-air bath. These rooms suit you if you want more privacy and a room that feels like the main part of the stay.
The Japanese-Western Style Room with Bath gives you 42–47㎡ of space, with semi-double Simmons beds on the flooring side and a tatami area where you can relax. This room type also includes a shower booth and has a barrier-free design. If you prefer a simple Japanese room with a bed, the Japanese-Style King Room places a king-size Simmons bed in an 8-tatami room on the top floor. There is also an 8-tatami Japanese room prepared with futons, plus Western-style king and twin rooms for a more straightforward bed-based stay.
Room features include a toilet with washlet, TV, refrigerator, hair dryer, bath towels, face towels, yukata, slippers, toothbrush, razor, hairbrush, and shower cap. Wi-Fi is free in the rooms, making it easy to plan your Atami sightseeing or unwind with your own devices after dinner.
Dining
Dining is one of the main reasons to stay at Atami TENSUI. Dinner is creative Japanese kaiseki served at Restaurant Sui, a colourful, stylish dining space inspired by Italian colours. The cuisine keeps a Japanese base while adding playful presentation and creative touches, so the meal feels more like an auberge experience than a standard ryokan dinner.
You can choose from light, standard, and premium kaiseki courses. Seasonal dinner examples include colourful spring appetizers, seafood carpaccio with seasonal citrus, white-wine-steamed Spanish mackerel, Shizuoka beef TENSUI roast beef,潮かつお udon, inari sushi, and dessert. The premium course adds lobster, making it a stronger choice when you want a more indulgent dinner.
Breakfast is a Japanese meal designed to start the day gently. You can enjoy small dishes such as simmered vegetables, spicy konnyaku, spinach ohitashi, ganmodoki, mentaiko, salad, fish, rolled omelet, freshly cooked rice, pork miso soup, yogurt, and blueberry sauce. The menu may change with the season and ingredient availability, but the style stays comforting and balanced.
Vegetarian meals can be arranged with advance request, so please mention this when booking if needed. Meal times can be reserved through the mobile order system.
Onsen and Wellness
The hot spring baths at Atami TENSUI use a calcium-sodium chloride and sulfate spring with a soft feel on the skin. The large public baths and open-air baths draw hot spring water, while the open-air baths use free-flowing source water. The water is clear, gently warm, and suited to slow bathing after travel or sightseeing.
You can enjoy a large public bath, jet bath, and open-air bath in both the men’s and women’s bathing areas. The large bath has an open layout and includes a jet bath, while the open-air bath gives you a view toward Sagami Bay. Bathing hours are from 15:00 to 25:00 and again from 5:30 to 10:00, so you can soak after arrival, before bed, and again in the morning.
For extra relaxation, you can reserve the bedrock bath. There are two rooms, each with two beds, and samue-style wear is prepared for use. The bedrock bath is available from 15:30 to 22:30 and gives you a quiet place to warm the body slowly before or after your hot spring time.
Guests with Tattoos
If you have tattoos, you can use the baths as long as the tattooed area can be fully covered with up to two designated cover stickers. Each sticker is 10cm by 15cm and can be purchased at the front desk. The same rule applies to the open-air bath and sauna-style facilities. If your tattoos cannot be covered with the stickers, you may not be able to use the shared bathing areas.
Facilities
The entrance sets the tone for the stay with a polished Japanese-modern design. Inside, Restaurant Sui becomes the main dining space, with comfortable chairs, creative food presentation, and a relaxed atmosphere for dinner. The restaurant terrace adds a more open-air feeling, with the sound of flowing water and space to sit outside when you want a change of mood.
Before dinner, you can enjoy the welcome service from 15:00 to 17:00. Wine, non-alcoholic drinks, and snacks are available, and the cost is already included in your stay. This makes arrival feel easy, especially if you want to settle in slowly before bathing or dinner.
The hotel also offers a bedrock bath, in-room entertainment, billiards, and aroma esthetic treatments. All rooms include a Bluetooth-compatible mini stereo, and portable games such as Othello and playing cards are prepared in the rooms. Billiards is available free of charge near the reception counter, while aroma treatments can be arranged in your room with advance reservation.
Parking is available for 20 cars, including indoor and outdoor spaces, and EV charging is available for four cars. A free shuttle runs between Kinomiya Station and the hotel by reservation, making arrival easier if you are travelling by train.
Activities
You can spend your stay simply: arrive in the afternoon, enjoy the welcome drinks and snacks, soak in the hot spring, take your time over dinner, and return to the bath again in the morning. Atami TENSUI works well when you want a short break built around food, bathing, and quiet time indoors.
