Dormy Inn Toyama, officially Natural Hot Spring Tsurugi no Yu Dormy Inn Toyama, gives you a practical city stay in central Toyama. You stay in Otemachi, close to the Sogawa shopping and dining area, Toyama Castle Park, the tram network, and several central sightseeing spots.

This is a business hotel with a strong bathing focus rather than a ryokan. You get compact rooms, natural hot spring baths, sauna facilities, breakfast with a Toyama local dish, late-night Yonaki Soba, and easy access to the city by tram, bus, taxi, or on foot.

Toyama Station is about 15 minutes away on foot. You can also take the tram loop line to Otemall stop, then walk about one minute to the hotel. This makes the hotel useful when you want to explore Toyama City, enjoy local seafood, visit museums, and return to a hot spring bath at the end of the day.

The semi-double room measures around 14.6 to 14.7 square metres and accommodates up to two people. The queen room measures 16 square metres and gives you a slightly wider bed setup. The twin room measures around 17 to 17.6 square metres, while the deluxe twin room measures 20 square metres and gives you the most space among the standard twin categories.

The universal smoking semi-double room measures 19.1 square metres and is designed with easier movement in mind. The hotel also has a smoking floor and a smoking lounge, so choose your room category carefully when smoke sensitivity matters.

Rooms use Simmons beds in most categories, with Airweave bedding in selected rooms. At Dormy Inn Toyama, the local dish is hotaruika no okizuke, marinated firefly squid. Firefly squid is one of Toyama Bay’s well-known seafood ingredients, and this dish gives breakfast a local Toyama flavour. You can also enjoy rice, soup, small dishes, warm items, and Western-style options depending on the daily buffet.

Dinner is not served as a full restaurant meal at the hotel. Instead, you can use the central location to explore nearby sushi restaurants, izakaya, cafés, black ramen shops, and local dining spots around Sogawa and central Toyama.

In the evening, the hotel serves Dormy Inn’s Yonaki Soba in the restaurant during the scheduled late-night service time. This light soy-sauce ramen works well after bathing, after sightseeing, or before returning to your room for the night.

Onsen and Wellness

The second-floor public bath, Tsurugi no Yu, uses natural hot spring water pumped from 1,200 metres underground. The water has a brownish colour and a smooth texture, and the hotel describes it as warming the body deeply.

The spring is classified as an alkaline simple hot spring. The listed bathing qualities include support for neuralgia, muscle discomfort, joint discomfort, frozen shoulder, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery.

The men’s bath area includes an indoor bath, Takami no Yu raised bath, semi-open-air bath, tsubo bath, high-temperature dry sauna with television, chilled water bath, and outdoor air-cooling chairs. Takami no Yu is deeper than a normal tub, so you need to watch your step when entering.

The women’s bath area includes an indoor bath, semi-open-air rock bath, tsubo bath, and a mist sauna using the hot spring source. The women’s area does not have a water bath.

The public bath is open from the afternoon until the following morning. The sauna pauses late at night and reopens early in the morning. Laundry corners are also placed near the bath area, which is helpful when you stay for more than one night.

For food, Toyama City is known for sushi, Toyama Bay seafood, masuzushi trout sushi, firefly squid, white shrimp, and Toyama black ramen. You can make meals part of your sightseeing by visiting local restaurants near the station, Sogawa, or the city centre.

You can also travel farther by train or bus. Toyama is a gateway to the Tateyama area, the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, Iwase port town, Kansui Park, and other Hokuriku destinations when your schedule allows.
