Overview
Irago Ocean Resort is a coastal hot spring resort on the tip of the Atsumi Peninsula in Tahara, Aichi. You stay high above the sea at Cape Irago, with wide views across the Pacific Ocean, Ise Bay, Mikawa Bay, and the Irago Strait.
The whole stay centers on the view. From your room, the baths, the restaurants, the rooftop viewpoint, and many shared spaces, you look out toward the water, passing ships, open sky, and changing light. Some rooms face the sunrise side, while others face the sunset side, so each stay can feel different depending on the room you choose.
This resort suits you when you want sea views, natural hot spring bathing, buffet dining, family-friendly facilities, dog-friendly options, and easy access to Cape Irago sightseeing. You can spend your time in the baths, walk along nearby beaches, enjoy the rooftop view, cycle around the coast, or simply watch the horizon from your room.
Accommodation
All rooms at Irago Ocean Resort have ocean views. Some look toward the morning sun, while others face the sunset over Ise Bay. Room types include twin rooms, triple rooms, family rooms, Japanese rooms, Japanese-Western rooms, dog-friendly rooms, and larger layouts for families or groups.
For a simple stay, you can choose Standard Twin, Comfort Twin, Premier Twin, Premier Large Twin, Superior Twin, Deluxe Twin, or similar Western-style rooms. These rooms keep the focus on the sea, with beds, clean layouts, and windows that bring the coastline into your stay.
If you travel with family or friends, you can choose larger rooms such as Superior Fourth, Superior Triple, Comfort Triple, Deluxe Triple, Premier Family Room, Premier Large Family Room, or Panorama Premiere Family Room. The Panorama Premiere Family Room includes playful family features inspired by the Irago sea, including a kids’ tent, hammock, bunk bed layout, and a bright coastal design.
Japanese-Western rooms give you both beds and tatami space. Deluxe Japanese-Western Room B is the largest room type and lets you enjoy the sea from both the bed area and tatami area. Deluxe Japanese-Western Room A and Superior Japanese-Western Room are certified “Welcome Baby Inn” rooms, with flat tatami space that works well when you travel with young children.
If you want a more traditional room, the 8-tatami Japanese room gives you tatami flooring and futon bedding. This room is prepared on the sunset side facing Ise Bay, so it is a good choice when you want a Japanese-style stay with evening sea views.
Dog-Friendly Rooms opened in July 2025 and allow you to stay with your dog. These rooms include dog-friendly flooring, soundproofing, a double-door entry to help prevent sudden run-outs, and pet sheets. You use a dedicated dog cart when moving between the room and dog park. Dogs cannot enter the restaurants, so your dog stays in the room or pet house during meals.
All rooms are non-smoking and include Wi-Fi. Room equipment includes a hair dryer, humidifying air purifier, safe, tea, room sweets, and electric kettle. Amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body soap, face and hand soap, skincare items, toothbrush set, bath towels, face towels, yukata coat and belt, slippers, bath basket, and water bottle. Yukata are available beside the front counter, and small items such as razors, cotton swabs, cotton, and combs are available from the amenity corner.
Dining
Dining at Irago Ocean Resort gives you ocean views and several styles of food. You can choose a buffet, course dining, or a café depending on your plan and mood.
Irago Bold Kitchen is the main buffet restaurant. It has a Mediterranean resort feel and serves Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes in a bright ocean-view space. You can enjoy seafood, Atsumi Peninsula vegetables, beef loin teppanyaki, and live-kitchen dishes prepared in front of you. There is also a kids’ corner, making it easy to dine with children.
Breakfast at Irago Bold Kitchen includes Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes. Freshly baked croissants, made-to-order omelettes, and French toast are among the breakfast highlights. You can start the morning with a full meal while looking out toward the Irago coastline.
For a slower dinner, Seaside Restaurant Tridente offers course dining with an “AQUA” theme inspired by the sea. The menu uses local ingredients such as seafood from Mikawa Bay and vegetables from the Atsumi Peninsula. Course styles may include Japanese, French, Chinese, and fusion dining created by the restaurant’s chefs. Private-room dining is also available for smaller meals or larger gatherings.
Saras Cafe gives you a more casual place for coffee, alcoholic drinks, sweets, and light meals while looking toward the ocean. You can enjoy seasonal fruit smoothies, coffee, cakes, pizza, sandwiches, and wine in a relaxed lounge-style setting.
Onsen and Wellness
Irago Ocean Resort has natural hot spring baths with wide views of Cape Irago and the sea. The open-air bath sits about 100 meters above sea level and has an infinity-style design, so the bath and horizon feel visually connected.
The hot spring source is Irago Onsen in Aichi. The water is a sodium-calcium chloride spring, described as hypotonic, weakly alkaline, and low temperature. The water is gentle on the skin and is linked with benefits such as chronic muscle or joint stiffness, neuralgia, cold sensitivity, poor circulation, mild high blood pressure, stress-related symptoms, sleep concerns, fatigue recovery, cuts, dry skin, and general health support.
The bath area includes an open-air natural hot spring bath, sleeping bath, ocean-view jacuzzi, indoor natural hot spring bath, seasonal bath, sauna, cold bath, men-only high-concentration carbonated jar bath, women-only mist sauna, and women-only stone sauna. The women’s stone sauna uses two types of natural stone and offers both lying and seated styles.
You can also reserve a private bath. The hotel has a standard private bath and a barrier-free private bath. The barrier-free bath has a deeper tub, so check details in advance if accessibility or bath depth matters to you.
Bathing hours for overnight stays are usually 5:00 to 10:00 and 13:00 to 24:00. The women-only stone sauna is available from 13:00 to 24:00 and is not available in the early morning.
The bath area also includes ReFa shower heads at the washing stations and ReFa dryers. Esthetic Salon Marine offers body and beauty treatments when you want extra care after bathing.
Guests with tattoos
If you have tattoos, you cannot use the public hot spring baths. The hotel’s bathing rules refuse entry to the baths for people with tattoos.
The outdoor pool also restricts visible tattoos, including tattoo stickers, but you may enter the pool area if you wear a rash guard that covers them.
If you have tattoos and want to bathe, contact the hotel directly before booking and ask whether the private bath can be used under the current rules.

The pet house has dog cages and can be used when you need a place for your dog during meals or outings. Vaccination certificates are required. The dog park sits about 100 meters above sea level and overlooks the Pacific Ocean, giving your dog space to run while you enjoy the view.
The specialty shop sells local sweets, alcoholic drinks, pearl accessories, sunglasses, clothing, and travel items. The wine server lets you enjoy wine while looking toward the sea. Table tennis, karaoke, bicycle rental, and the rooftop viewpoint add easy ways to spend time without leaving the resort.
Activities
You can spend the day inside the resort without needing a full sightseeing plan. Start with breakfast by the sea, soak in the hot spring, visit the rooftop viewpoint, rent a bicycle, use the pool in summer, enjoy the kids park with children, or relax in Saras Cafe with ocean views.
The area around the hotel gives you easy access to Cape Irago sightseeing. Irago Cape Lighthouse, Koijigahama Beach, Hii no Sekimon rock formation, and Irago Beach are all within a short drive. You can walk by the coast, watch the waves, visit the lighthouse, or enjoy beach time in summer.
Seasonal activities around the Atsumi Peninsula include strawberry picking from winter to spring, melon picking from late spring through summer, clam digging, birdwatching, and flower events such as the Atsumi Peninsula Nanohana Festival. From the hotel rooftop, you may also see migrating birds in autumn or the illuminated chrysanthemum greenhouses at night.
You can also take boat trips from Irago Port. Ferry and high-speed boat routes connect the area with Toba, Kowa, Shinojima, Himakajima, and other coastal destinations, making the resort useful for a wider Mikawa Bay or Ise-Shima itinerary.
