Overview

Noboribetsu Sekisui Tei offers you a retreat in the heart of Hokkaido’s most famous hot spring region. Located in Noboribetsu Onsen, this ryokan surrounds you with dramatic natural beauty, from steaming valleys to forested mountain views. Step into your room, relax in the hot spring baths, and soak up the healing energy of this unique volcanic landscape.

Accommodation

The ryokan offers Japanese-style, Western-style, and Japanese-Western mixed rooms. You can choose a space that suits your travel style. Japanese rooms feature traditional tatami flooring, giving you a quiet, grounded space to relax. Western-style rooms come with beds and modern furnishings, while Japanese-Western rooms offer both futons and beds in a larger layout.

In Icho-Kan, special relaxation rooms include massage chairs to help you unwind further. Each room comes with a refrigerator, electric kettle, TV, slippers, a yukata, towels, and basic toiletries. Air conditioning and heating keep you comfortable in every season. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and the lobby.

Dining

Your stay includes a chance to enjoy Hokkaido’s local flavors through your choice of three dining styles. The buffet restaurant serves dishes made with seasonal seafood, local vegetables, and other specialties. You can enjoy your meal with views of the surrounding nature. Each dish is prepared to highlight the freshness and richness of Hokkaido’s ingredients.

Onsen and Wellness

At Noboribetsu Sekisui Tei, the onsen experience is central. The large indoor bath on the 8th floor of Kobushi-Kan gives you sweeping views of nature in every season. As sunlight pours in through the windows, you can soak and let the scenery shift with the time of day.

On the 7th floor of Icho-Kan, the open-air bath offers views of the nearby mountains. Soak under the stars or enjoy the morning mist. Choose between two tubs—one crafted from smooth cypress and the other from traditional Shigaraki stone. Both provide a different kind of warmth and texture for your relaxation.

For more privacy, head to NAGOMI, the private onsen area on the basement level of Sakura-Kan. Here, you can book a private hot spring bath with an outdoor view, along with a hot stone sauna that gently warms your body and boosts your circulation. These sessions are booked by the hour and offer 50 minutes of deep relaxation.

You can also schedule a massage or aesthetic treatment after your bath. Shiatsu massage focuses on deep pressure points throughout your body, while the aromatic aesthetic course uses gentle oils to stimulate blood flow and soften your skin.

Guests with Tattoos

If you have tattoos, book one of the private onsen or sauna sessions in the NAGOMI area. This ensures you can enjoy the hot springs comfortably and without restrictions.

Facilities

Public bath areas include baby beds in the changing rooms for small children. The sauna is open daily from morning until late evening, and the indoor and outdoor baths are available 24 hours. In your room, you’ll find all the essentials—yukata, slippers, towels, soap, toothbrush, and more.

Some rooms come with built-in hair dryers. If yours doesn’t, the front desk will lend one at no cost. For younger children booked with meal and bedding plans, you can request yukata and slippers sized just for them.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Electric kettles are provided in all rooms for boiling water. While baby beds and chairs are not included in the rooms, you can borrow baby strollers. Keep in mind, however, that strollers are not allowed in tatami rooms.

Activities

While staying at Sekisui Tei, take time to explore the natural history of Noboribetsu. Visit Hell Valley (Jigokudani), where steam and gas rise from volcanic vents in a dramatic rocky gorge. Walk up to Ooyunuma, a large steaming crater lake with a deep gray-black surface. Or get close to Okunoyu, a bubbling sulfur swamp that shows the raw energy beneath Mt. Hiyori. These places tell the story of how the area’s volcanic activity continues to shape its landscape.
