Overview
Hotel & Onsen 2307 Shigakogen places you in the highland nature of Shiga Kogen, near the foot of Mt. Yokote. You stay in the Hotaru Onsen area, surrounded by mountains, ski slopes, cool summer air, starry skies, and seasonal scenery. The area sits within Shiga Kogen UNESCO Ecopark, where volcanic land, forests, snow, hot springs, and local life come together in a protected mountain environment.
This is a strong base for an active mountain stay. In winter, you can enjoy skiing and snowboarding nearby. From spring to autumn, you can look forward to trekking, alpine plants, cycling, autumn colors, fireflies, ponds, and clear night skies. After time outdoors, you return to natural hot springs and a relaxed hotel atmosphere.
Accommodation
You can choose from Japanese-style rooms, Western-style rooms, and Japanese-Western rooms. The official room list includes the following room types:
Japanese-Style Room 10 Tatami with Bath and Toilet
This corner room looks toward Mt. Yokote and includes its own bath and toilet. It is a good choice when you want a more private bathing option in your room.
Western-Style EX Twin
This Western-style twin room gives you a simple, easy place to rest after skiing, hiking, or driving through Shiga Kogen.
Japanese-Western ST Twin
This room combines Japanese and Western elements, giving you a stay that feels practical and relaxed while still keeping a mountain ryokan-style atmosphere.
Japanese-Style Room 10 Tatami
This classic Japanese-style room gives you tatami flooring and a calm space for a mountain stay. Some rooms may include views, but views are not guaranteed for every booking.
Japanese-Style Room 8 Tatami
This compact Japanese-style room suits you when you want a simple tatami room as your base in Shiga Kogen.
Japanese-Western Triple Room 303

Dining
Meals focus on local ingredients and seasonal flavors. You can enjoy buffet-style dining, and some plans include kaiseki-style meals, so the experience may change depending on the plan you book.
The dining style keeps the mood casual and mountain-focused. After a day outdoors, you can sit down to food that reflects the season and the surrounding region, with breakfast and dinner available through selected stay plans.
Onsen and Wellness
You can enjoy two natural hot spring sources during your stay. The baths include a 4th-floor observation large bath, a basement large bath using Hotaru Onsen water, a 1st-floor open-air bath using Yokoteyama Onsen water, and a foot bath on the 1st floor.
The basement large bath uses Hotaru Onsen, described as a weak alkaline simple hot spring. The open-air bath uses Yokoteyama Onsen, described as a weak acidic sulfur-chloride spring with free-flowing source water. The open-air bath draws cloudy water that can shift in appearance with the weather, adding to the mountain bathing atmosphere.
Bathing is available from 12:00 to 10:00 the next morning, with cleaning from 10:00 to 12:00. The hot spring is natural and free-flowing, with added water used for temperature adjustment.
Guests with Tattoos
Because you can soak in a private onsen inside selected room types, you can enjoy the onsen regardless of tattoos.
For the public bath, if you have tattoos, check with the hotel directly before using the shared bathing areas.
Facilities
The hotel facilities include large hot spring baths, an open-air bath, a foot bath, a lounge, café space, shop, vending machines, parking, and a ski maintenance room for the winter season.
You can use free Wi-Fi throughout the building. The hotel is fully non-smoking, and free parking is available, though you may be guided to another nearby parking area during heavy winter snow.
A shuttle service from Yudanaka Station is listed on the official FAQ as available by reservation, although another booking source says no shuttle service, so you should confirm directly before relying on it.
Activities
In winter, you can ski and snowboard near the hotel, with Yokoteyama Ski Resort close by. The wider Shiga Kogen area is known for powder snow, snowshoeing, and frost-covered trees.
In spring, late snow and fresh green plants create a striking highland scene. In summer, you can enjoy cooler mountain air, trekking, cycling, alpine flowers, and star watching. In autumn, Shiga Kogen becomes a major foliage destination, with rowan and birch trees adding bright color across the mountains.
You can also explore nearby spots such as Shiga Kogen Mountain Station, Jigokudani Monkey Park, and Zenkoji Temple during your trip.
